Did something in particular make you think he might have been otherwise? Do you think he's in any way concerned with Men's Rights? He's not a positive role model for gender egalitarianism in my opinion.

So the scenario you describe could occur in anyone's life regardless of gender. Are women yet again blameless in this scenario? Do you have any actual evidence to back up your assertion? Also, how does your theory relate to unfair alimony? In your world are men doomed to forever repay some imagined debt to womankind? Is that how your mind works?

Meh, I find it a little 'twee'. If you meet someone for the first time and introduce your girlfriend, it doesn't really convey the fact that you've spend 12 years together and share a house, a life, kids/stepkids, cat, dog, car, etc etc. Girlfriend to me conveys something a little more casual or 'new'!

This! this is exactly the problem. You get a confirmation bias because a55h0les that love censorship automatically veer toward positions that give them the power to censor! Many of the people that moderate posts are too inexperienced in life and far too prejudiced to recognise nuance or fairness. They simply warp the terms and conditions to implement their own worldview...

I get the same thing when I say 'partner' too! I'm 50, she's 50. She's not a girlfriend, and we're not married. What else do you call someone that you live with for a long time but aren't married to?!

and hypocritical too! Aren't Google using UK and Ireland as a massive tax dodge? Where are her high-minded principles and blameless female morality now? Every dollar Google doesn't pay in tax directly affects a government's ability to take care of its poor, sick, destitute etc.

In a sense it doesn't matter what she's calling women. Her crime is in encouraging gender apartheid and contention. She also seems to forget that traditionally men have valued sexual intimacy enough that they might pay for it. And to encourage stereotypes in the same way that Ms Zimmerman does, isn't it usually women that place a value on emotional intimacy? So really, shouldn't women be paying for emotional support, with sex of course?

Sorry but I equally believe your sense of entitlement is like some misty oestrogen fog. Your exaggerated requirement for a 'safe space' is ludicrous. Do you imagine women and NB people creeping carefully into the store while bravely avoiding contact with all the creepy, rapey, men leering at you, undressing you with their eyes? I want everyone to enjoy the pleasures of cycling. Your sexist world view is entirely separate. What's next? a safe space for fat people? I'm overweight and don't feel co…

Indeed and if you roll a turd in glitter, it's still a turd. While there may be female employees aggrieved by the behaviour of certain clients, this is not the way to address the issue. If you want male clients to change their behaviour, then TELL THEM! This will just alienate otherwise valuable male clients. I'd take my custom elsewhere, encourage other men to boycott the store and see how many sales they make from Women, Trans & Gender Non-Binary clients. Should be interesting...

She's a well known 'womansplainer'. She has written a string of articles essentially proposing that female on male abuse doesn't count because the guys enjoy it! She also thinks that female soldiers fighting on the front line is a mistake because the 'alpha male fitness levels' are unrealistic, female soldiers might also be seen as trophy targets, and they'd be at risk of rape... She appears to support the 'have your cake and eat it' brand of feminism.

+1 Fool me once etc... It's also important that both parents have equal rights to a decent amount of parental leave and that children's daycare is affordable. Some European countries such as France and Holland provide that from age 3 onward. This allows both parents to work and support their child without one or other of them being forced into a poverty trap. You have to look at the system that creates some of these issues.

The implication is that sperm is cheap. A vasectomy reversal has a roughly 50% chance of success. But hey, from a reproductive point of view, a female can just go elsewhere. Having said that, from a purely medical point of view, a vasectomy is a minor procedure compared to an procedure involving the fallopian tubes - so a conservative medic will always opt for the least invasive procedure.

I'm pretty sure I've never punched/raped anyone, male or female, that's asked me to move. Maybe I'm just a really nice guy eh?! In fact most people regardless of gender will move up without you even asking as soon as you hover in the vicinity. If they don't, they're ignorant. Women don't deserve to be referred to collectively in this case. Perhaps? But find me a false rape accusation made by a male! And men don't deserve to be referred to collectively as Rapists but we get that shit on posters and adverts everywhere. Your goal should be to show the owner how he is being hurt by this behavior... This is the key issue and it's why car sales generally operate on a commission basis. All you need to do is demonstrate to the owner that Tina's salary does not provide a return in terms of sales. No dealership, especially a small one, can afford to to 'carry' an unproductive employee. You simply have to compare what you're both paid with how much you both make for the company in sales margins. Unless the manager can …

Your citations fail to prove that MGM is equally serious or more serious than FGM. As i'm sure you know, a gender comparative study would not be seen favorably from an academic viewpoint. We must therefore infer from the gender specific studies the relative level of damage caused. Here's one study that focuses on Obstetric outcomes - not something western men have to worry about - but valid in proving that FGM is on a different level entirely. http://www.who.int/reproductivehealth/publications/f…

I think you're trolling now. You have the links and you have Google. Try looking up 'El-Dareer' for some background if you're really interested. But you are clearly not. It suits your agenda to equate two different forms of genital mutilation and regardless of how much proof you see that they are different you will refuse to accept basic biological facts. I've read the MG stuff already, which is why I'm against all forms of genital mutilation. I have however retained the ability to think critica…

I assume you also need evidence that shooting yourself in the foot hurts a lot? Removing the clitoris is sexually harmful - it's a simple biological fact. The quantity of research doesn't equal the quantity proof. In the same way that correlation does not imply causation. Are you resorting to that line just to win an argument? If it's so important to you, then fine, take that line. There is a paucity of research into female circumcision and clitorectomy because it doesn't affect white western populations - whereas male circumcision does. But hey, keep clinging to your argument. However, in clinging to this weak argument you still have not once add…

On the contrary, you're the one with the burden of proof. You're trying to equate a clitorectomy with a foreskin removal. I've given you a couple of simple logical and biological arguments that you seem to wish to ignore while clinging to some stats you read somewhere.
/r/MensRights19/11/13 08:23 AM

I've made no assumptions - you haven't even provided a link to medical research in the field. Whether FGC is actually more impacting or not is besides the point This is the revealing statement really - you're so caught up in arguing the stats that you seem unable even consider the actual physical impact of a clitorectomy. You still have not addressed this most basic issue - are you aware that the female orgasm hinges principally on the clitoris? Are you saying that just because you lack data, it…

By all means please do quote me a reliable medical source (as opposed to an activist website) that says the removal of the clitoris is less harmful than the removal of the foreskin. I have not claimed that there is no scientific evidence against MGC. I will also re-iterate that I am against circumcision of any sort. So, I will make my point again. Can a woman have a clitoral orgasm without a clitoris? Some women report that they retain some sensation around the G-spot area but as we know, the ma…

There's no convincing you if you want to believe that. Seriously, count up the number of circumcised men in the world v. the number of fully circumcised females and then per capita look at the medical outcomes. Also read my statements properly. How can you possibly think that a woman whose clitoris has been removed, has not suffered a serious blow to her enjoyment of sex? What do you need here? Photographs?
/r/MensRights18/11/13 08:32 AM
2

Nope, the FGM surgery usually damages or removes the clitoris. Furthermore. the vaginal aperture sewn up and tightened so that the girl is more 'virginal'. Speak to a few medical practitioners that have had to repair the damage. Your complex biological truths sound more like post structuralist deconstruction to me. You want to place FGM and MGM on an equal footing because it suits your agenda, but any western doctor operating in an ethnic arena will outline the difference for you.

Dawkins has spoken out about the religious practices around MGM however as a biologist I assume he is taking the more severe case as his plank for protest.

3

Apart from the word 'False' in your response can you explain how the removal of the clitoris (which is what usually happens in FGM) compares to the removal of the foreskin? When considering MGM or circumcision, a comparable operation on a female would be to remove the hood around the clitoris not the clitoris itself. To perform an operation on a man equivalent to FGM would be to remove the glans and part of the foreskin and sew the remaining foreskin across the shaft of the penis leaving only a …

Richard Dawkins' campaign is clearly motivated from a different viewpoint. He want to use FGM to illustrate one of the horrors perpetrated in the name of religion. Because I'm atheist, I agree to an extent. Let's face it, FGM is far more damaging to a woman's sexuality than MGM is to a man's. A circumcised man can still enjoy an orgasm and have sex without pain. A woman that has had a full female circumcision is pretty well damned to a life without sexual pleasure. However, I think Dawkins needs…

C'mon guys, be fair, women couldn't possibly be cheating for the same base reasons as us men! I mean men cheat because they have a penis, and women don't have a penis, right?! This crap pisses me off. I've known several men that were cheated on by their partners. None of them were cheaters, beaters, or neglectful husbands - their wives simply wanted to fuck someone else. There are better ways to protect yourself in the event of a marriage breakup than a pre-nup. There are many dependencies here such as whether you buy or rent your home, whether your wife to be works outside the home, your relative earnings and so on. Also, if and when you break up, who has custody, whether it's shared etc. The key issue here is how you behave during any breakup process. When you see the writing on the wall, you need to get lawyered up. You need to act carefully and preempt any s…

For your own mental and physical wellbeing you need to leave. Nobody can say it's an easy decision, but it's one you have to make. Frankly, the sort of mentality required to embrace scientology, or any other reilgion for that matter, is in itself a bad sign. You can morally justify pretty much anything if you think 'god' is on your side.

I don't see the issue here. It seems like the sort of article you might equally see in a mens magazine. It says more about general morality than any particular gender bias as far as I can see. Infidelity is common to both sexes and I've been guilty myself. I also pretty much followed the advice to say nothing! Fair point you make and I stand corrected. It's not easy to find such figures when searching in a European context, though I did eventually find a deeply buried study from the UK which supports this. OK, you can be pedantic, and even engage in semantics, but there's a reason that women are rated as a lower risk. That reason may be that they drive more slowly, or may be less likely to engage in risky road manoeuvres, but really who cares? they statistically cause less damage to life and property. That may not fit in with what you want to believe but it's the truth. I trust you understand the difference.

I found this poster hilarious because I aware of the original one. Well, to be fair, there's a reason insurance actuaries rate women as a lower risk. The stats are apparently well established. However, to state this in a children's book reinforces the sterotype of devil-may-care male drivers. It is essentially giving 'permission' to males to perpetuate the role. Note that in Europe (EU Countries), insurance companies are now prevented by law from using gender in determining motor insurance policy prices!

A few things to consider: Pre-nups work both ways. You can protect your interests too. Pre-nups are usually more effective and more necessary in protecting previously held assets that one partner is bringing into the marriage. Remember that within the context of a pre-nup, your fiancee's earning power does not entitle her to anything other than some protection of her income. Shared assets are just that. If she suggests that assets such as your home are split any other way than 50/50, I would pus…

I'm liberal and pro mens rights. I have however noticed (and this is purely my own anecdotal experience) that there seem to be more conservatives involved than liberals. In my opinion, men's rights should have nothing to do with your political/economic/social worldview as it is simply an expression of our need for egalitarian and fair treatment. One gender should not have more rights or preferences than the other.

Actually, I think you missed my point in response to the point of the article. Rather than wishing to deconstruct or devalue the institution of marriage, I believe same sex couples are looking for parity. I don't know why two sisters would want to marry, but when two people wish to marry, there is usually the assumption of an underlying romantic link and/or a practical cohabitation arrangement (whether with or without sex). Even though I am technically circumsized (to cure phimosis) I asked the surgeon to remove as little skin as possible - meaning ai still have enough to cover my glans when flaccid. I love it... "They feed their families healthier diets and send their children to school. They invest in clean water, better schools, education and health care." What a complete crock of shit. Who builds the schools and hospitals? Who digs the wells? Who grows and harvests the healthy food?! Clearly there are entire armies of female construction crews and farmers we haven't noticed, quietly working to provide these services despite the best efforts of us men to ruin it all. Or, perhaps there are…

So it's time to raise the minimum wage because lots of women earn it? I'm not sure I see the justification here. The minimum wage is either fair or unfair, regardless of gender.

Did you check your mother's story? Interesting that you were allowed see him during your childhood. Were the visits supervised? Would you allow a child of yours to stay with a peadophile? Seems like you need to ask some questions here and perhaps verify some of the 'facts' you were given, no?

I used condoms for birth control for 13 years with my ex wife. So leaving aside the occasions when we actively tried to produce children, I got to use about fifty condoms.... Yes, really, we had sex quarterly if I was lucky. I was also quite fertile so even when trying for a baby, it only took maybe 2 or 3 uncovered attempts! However, none of those fifty-ish condoms ever failed because I put the damn things on properly, while relatively sober! When looking at failure rate stats, I think you have…

That's pretty cool, but I'll bet that professor will do nothing about the pamphlet. In my experience, I've only met a small proportion of women who were actually radical feminists, just as I've only met a a small proportion of men who were as misogynist as all men are claimed to be. The issue is that radical feminist literature is seen as ok, but men's rights literature is not seen as ok...

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" said William Congreve. And he was right. She doesn't want you to leave, so you must prepare yourself if you do leave. She'll be angry, and my guess is that if she's angry enough to hit you with a hot metal spatula, she'll be angry enough to use your child as a negotiating tool. I think you've made up your mind and you're probably right, but my advice would be to hire a good lawyer and go legal before she does. Believe me, once she understands that you're …

Typical lightweight nonsense. Looking at the reasons women have affairs, where's the difference? These are not gender specific reasons! In fact, they are all the reasons I had an affair. Lets just swap the genders in that list and have a look shall we? Husbands say their sex lives have dwindled Men are out in the workplace and have the opportunity to meet other women Husbands feel neglected by their wife and their lovers make them feel special Men have access to women through the Internet (old g…

Sounds like the war of attrition has worn you down, but you know what? It looks like you're over the hump. I've been there; the worst eight years of my life, but now have custody. Just some tips that worked for me; Every unfounded allegation, malicious accusation, and frivolous legal action needs to be summed up in a legal affidavit and registered/sworn in by the court. Then each time she starts the crap again you have something to show the cops/CPS to prove she's probably engaging in another ma…

When I was told to man up after revealing to a friend that my ex wife was regularly physically and verbally abusing me. So after 8 years I hit her back. Once. Now I'm the guy who hit his wife. She gets a free pass and I'm the pariah.

You counsellor sounds like an unqualified idiot. Is she affiliated or accredited by any therapist organisation? Where did she study? I'd contact her college/accreditation organisation and ask them to review her appraisal of your 'violence tolerance'. Seriously, my partner is a counsellor and when I ran your story by her she was horrified! The last thing you do when dealing with the trauma of domestic violence is make light of it.

Hmm, I agree that it's misandry, but I feel far from threatened. It's the sort of completely unsubtle crap that is easily recognised for what it is. I'm more afraid of the more sophisticated stuff that slips by unnoticed!

The very first thing he needs to do is get lawyered up and fight back. Take no prisoners, because she definitely won't. He'll get no thanks or sympathy from his mortgage company, or utility provider when he can't pay his bills. Showing compassion or understanding will get your friend nowhere.

I didn't argue that the man should be punished more than the girl. i pointed out that their respective ages meant that he should bear more responsibility for the situation. The girl's age right now is irrelevant. If you do indeed have the degrees you claim, you should know that the the girl's age at the time she committed the crime is the relevant factor. If not I'm assuming you believe that all crimes committed by kids should be 'parked'' until they're old enough to do proper jail time? I agree…

Can you not debate without insult, or 'shouting'? I hear what you are saying, but I can only reiterate that she deserves at least some consideration of context. That doesn't seem to figure in your argument. I'm from a country where we at least consider options before we put children in jail and further criminalize them. Sure, put the kid in jail just to please your notions of crime and punishment, but what about when she emerges from prison, hardened by her experience, and with a new set of skil…

Ok, you clearly inhabit a simple black and white world where subtlety plays no part. You want a 16 year old girl in prison to make you happy, no matter what the lead-up to her crime. All I am trying to say is that she, as a teenager, was not ready for a sexual relationship with an adult, nor for the shitstorm that followed when it was discovered. The ways in which her cycling coach, and subsequently her family reacted, might just have had some part to play in her consequent actions. You solution…

As I have replied previously, I do not absolve the girl from sin. i simply point out the nature of adult responsibility. I gave no analogy, so I don't see where it breaks down. I accepted the general point, and I accept that a teen male might be treated differently, and I also think a teen male in a similar situation would deserve just as much lenience, especially if he was influenced by others to feel victimised and had no previous criminal history. But that wasn't the point I was making! I sim…

You say my views are warped. That's a throwaway response that I could equally apply to your logic, i.e. Older man taking advantage of his position to have sex with a 16 year = consensual sex 16 year old girl = fully grown adult that we can criminalise in the penal system My logic is not warped, it is simply too liberal and European for you perhaps. the situation is not black and white - there are subtleties that require consideration. I did not absolve the girl of sin, i simply pointed out that …

Although I accept the general point here about the imbalance between the treatment of each gender, I do think that the guy needs to take a little bit more responsibility for his actions - not because he's a man, but because he's an adult, and sorry, but she's barely out of childhood. I have a sixteen year old son and two nieces of the same age. I wouldn't consider any of them capable of sound mature judgement, nor would they be capable of a mature relationship with an adult. Frankly, the guy is …
