My anecdotal evidence is alcohol. According to some data points, the majority of rapes occur under it's influence. I agree. And I don't think the author is proposing a comparison and contest between men and women, but between women and women. e.g. between privileged western society feminists and northern african islamic society women.

I think what's being communicated is that there are women who are actually not suffering at all (i.e. radical feminists and the vast majority of women in western society), and there are some women who actually are suffering; as opposed to men aren't really suffering in comparison to women.

I think the logic here is that discrediting feminism, could encourage rape or something of that nature. I think that this is a relatively widely held belief. This idea is based on the notion that there's no reason for someone not to perpetuate violence except empathy with a potential victim. In reality it's pure self interest that governs one actions. From my research only physical harm is required for assault not the application of physical force. Drugging someone is considered assault in most criminal codes.
