It's a shame that the electoral setup in the US doesn't allow for cross-cancellation of votes. In India we see that whenever a leader is fighting alone against everyone, he's almost sure to win by a landslide, because the opposition parties cancel each other out. I agree with a lot of this. Not all of it, but a lot of this. I too used to be a validation-whore on Facebook. I never used it to get dates, just to keep in touch with some friends etc. Nowadays however, I use Facebook only to keep in touch with people who follow my football team and people who run quizzing pages/groups. If you can make the proper distinction, it is not difficult to have a good Facebook presence without getting addicted to constant validation.
