Rape is a very serious accusation, and a criminal burden of proof may not be acceptable for a university. What if there were some evidence which was obtained illegally, which proved the guilt, but could not be used in a court of law. If you had a housekeeper who was accused of raping someone, and charges were filed against him or her, would you just let the person continue to work in your house without looking into the details yourself?
