That's what love is about, man, surrendering for another person. I would surrender for my wife just as she would surrender for me, and she's not attracted to me for my ability to surrender for her. Everyone is attracted to this. Everyone wants to be loved. Everyone likes the idea of being with a person who is willing to give up their time to take care of you. Deep down, everyone's a little scared of the idea of being alone in the world, and love lets you depend on the fact that someone else will…

Men and women are partners of a team, they have differences that compliment one another for mutual benefit. That's an assertion backed up by nothing but tradition, a tradition that tells women that it's okay that they don't get to go out and work to make a living, because their job in the home is 'just as important'. Don't give me that bull, I've been a man around men long enough to know that a large number of men don't have an ounce of respect for homemaking. They just expect it. But women don'…

had no access to contraception Since when is this about sex? This is about life. You can have a life without having sex. We have contraception these days, which means that most people can afford to have sex without having babies. Good for them. Has nothing to do with what you do with your life. That you had to choose. Would you sacrifice your paternity leave for your child's mother? Or would you take it yourself? We'd sort it out with a discussion like any reasonable couple. This is a completely…

It's not unfair if its what they want. It's unfair to prevent the ones who DON'T want it. YUP - says here that a metric shit ton of women would have absolutely no problem staying at home and taking care of kids, if their husbands can afford to make that happen. And why should a man not want the same? Why should a woman not want to make the money happen while the man stays at home? Why is it so hard to understand that other people should be allowed to have personal liberties?

More class warfare! Color me surprised. You keep repeating this in order to not engage with legitimate complains. You seem to just want people to shut up about the fact that women have historically been prevented from following their own dreams and doing what they want with their lives, and that this attitude remains with us in the psyche of society in the form of misogynistic beliefs and stereotypes. Here's a scenario: A garbage-man husband to his dentist wife, is told by his beloved that they …

You can sit here and pretend that you're not gunning for as many women as possible to drop their traditions - but that is exactly what you're doing. I'm arguing that your traditions are not based in reality and are fundamentally unfair. Every BPer here is listing many, many reasons why your traditions are unfair, and you're refusing to respond because you reject "class warfare". "Class warfare" is a dogwhistle term for silencing any outcry against the status quo. ...So long as that's not being a…

I'm just suggesting that our desire for sex is driven by our innate desire to make babies. This is nit picking. But you can't really argue this as a fact. Having sex produces babies. At some point in our evolutionary history, probably fairly early on, a mutation may have caused a neurological reaction giving the feeling of pleasure. This gene was selected for because those who enjoy having sex are more likely to reproduce and pass on their genes. This does not translate into a psychological desi…

Women can make babies, men can't. And what does that say about who should spend time raising the baby? Absolutely nothing. The umbilical cord doesn't hang around for very long. You seem to be unable to make the connection that as humans, intelligent, capable of rational thought, if we can find a way to make something work well for us then we can do it. Our earlier non-human ancestors may have had very good reasons to split roles by gender. Maybe our human ancestors had good reasons as well, mayb…

I found the study. http://psycnet.apa.org/psycinfo/2004-10200-001 This study was properly blinded and no gender differences were seen at the first (newborn) session. A follow up many weeks later showed slight favoring by female children of the face. This can be explained in the context of many other studies as being related to the gendered manner that the baby is treated and regarded until then.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
