That wasn't the main part of my post, but I guess it's the only part you could respond to because I was right about everything else. As a matter of fact, it is in fact a non-sequitur. You don't know every possible assumption, thus you can't possibly know whether there exists any assumption better than it. Non-sequitur. Something doesn't have to be good to be the best, it just has to be better than all the others. If all the others are bad, it can still be the best. The only part I have a problem with is this: "So if 90% of sexually active women use birth control that’s 90% effective, there’s no way that adds up to a 50% unwanted pregnancy rate." Assuming the sexually active women who don't use birth control all get pregnant and all wanted the resulting child, and assuming that 10% of the women who do use birth control get pregnant and it's unwanted (since apparently the birth control is 90% effective), that means there's a 0.1 probability a sexually active…

The answer is obvious. Each vehicle should be designed to protect its passengers first and foremost, and non-passengers next. I would not get in a self-driving car that would kill me to save someone else, and I don't think most people would.
