Stop logging in... that makes sense to me, but help me reconcile this: I read surrendered single, and Laura Doyle advises to keep accepting dates/flirting with other guys, as it's psychologically healthy and it will increase your value in his eyes (knowing other guys are after you). What do you guys think?

Thank you for your input. I'm not at the point of writing him off yet. We share so many other values, and I can see his wheels turning when I discuss my point of view with him. I'll be very wary of the attraction = initial civility though.

Thanks for your thoughts ladies. I really like aspects of this guy, and I can see potential for a great LTR. Just learned yesterday he smokes once or twice a week. I have some thinking to do.

Hang in there. I went through the same thing with my first love (3 years living together, my best friend, my everything). Keep yourself busy, commit to activities that will expose yourself to new people, reconnect with old friends... Do whatever it takes (even if it feels like work) to keep your spirits up. It will be very hard, but with time and new experiences, the pain will fade and you'll appreciate a new perspective on your ex and future relationships. Hugs.

I tend to share your feelings, but I'm having trouble articulating exactly why... I like to have a few glasses of wine every now and then, why should I treat his occasional pot smoking as a greater negative? Can you explain why it is a deal breaker for you?

Upon further thought... it depends on the conversation. Sounds like the texting isn't very exciting. With so much time between actually seeing each other, I think it will be important for her to hold out for higher quality communication (i.e. phone call) vs settling for texting all the time. How this is communicated will have to be done carefully. The "thumbs tired" might not be the best way (I would try in a cute way), it really depends on your rapport with him.

This could very quickly go south if you show him you are bored and waiting around to hang out with him. Keep investing in your hobbies. Ask him to "join" you in activities, so he sees you're living your life with or without him. If you're texing at night, tell him your thumbs are tired and see what he does. If he feels the same excitement about you, he'll make the effort to pick up the phone and call you.

I found the audio book "Get The Guy" by Matthew Hussey extremely helpful. He has a bunch of youtube material you can look at first if you're interested in getting a feel first.
