I'm guessing you're largely making a joke, but that's an example of "spiritual bypass," using spirituality to avoid or get around an issue, instead of confronting it. There shouldn't be a desire to remove ego, rather a recognition that the ego creates suffering, followed by a resting into the space in which that goes away.
