I want to fight Jordan Peterson and Shapiro and cry after. In a hoodie.

I certainly hope this generation undoes centuries of gender bias. I see it in my classroom. A person is always going to blame others before themselves. If you find likeminded people you get a tribe - or subreddit. But again, I’m seeing a massive shift in how students view others; I’ve been teaching a little under two decades.

Most teachers in k-12 are women so girls get more academic representation. Boys also have higher suspension rates. The solution is for more men to become teachers. “Oh, we’ll be looked at as pedos”. Schools will hire a man over a woman. Men just need to assert themselves and act as though they belong - which I think as to why men don’t sign up.

You know how women “friend zone” men? Do we have an appetite that doesn’t match what we should eat as men? Relationships don’t have to be perfect. They just need to be capable of growth.

https://libcom.org/files/images/block09.jpg We need to stop being tribes. Ending the war on drugs begins with city councils. They decide where police money goes, equipment, etc. Give cops six shooters only.

Why can’t we just end the war on drugs already? I’m just tired of the arguments for 50 years of failure. We militarized the police. Criminalized a health issue. If you want to defund the police, change their job description. It’s like we want to do everything but fix the issue.

There were men I was afraid of growing up. I even had a few rapists in the family. I feared a lot of the male “role models” in my family. It wasn’t until I could stand up for myself - like beat my own dad’s ass - that I felt safe. Girls really can’t do that. Some boys can’t either.

Patriarchy. Women only had value if their virtue was intact. If a woman has “looser” morals, then it’s almost as if she deserves it. This is a common theme throughout most civilizations. It’s used today in arguments over victimhood: “what was she wearing”. Reflexively it means there is no room to consider men a victim since so much is dedicated to the consideration of women. Hell, men dominating women is celebrated still. It’s part of culture and religion. There’s no room in the heuristic to con…

I had a kid who would openly hate on trans people. He’d quote Peterson and Shapiro. There probably is a Venn diagram of beliefs between the two above and other right wing people. As a teacher, I have to keep the peace. But I think we can agree that judging people by phenotype and then determining their standard in society as per an artificial hierarchy is not the best way to run a democracy.

That’s not really how it’s done here. Women can get benefits, but they’re not enough to maintain a standard of living. But if the State is forcing women to have a child, then the State pays the child support.

In States that force birth, the State should pay the child support.

I’ve seen it attributed to women opting to be mothers. My wife caught a little bit of bullying by her boss after having our son. “Oh, do you miss your son”. “Should you go to that training if you’re going to quit anyways”. “You can’t do part time”. These were all statements made without my wife even bringing up the topic. Her boss was a woman. This is what is meant by the Patriarchy. Patri in the sense of father, not men. Patronize. Paternalism. Everyone can be a player in the game.

At what point does a man deserve it? 25? 15? 10? 2? Look at a two yr old and say: you deserve abuse in 20 yrs. But this goes for anyone. Men, women, minorities. We were all once children with potential.

The patriarchy is separate from men; human men. We all went through high school. Football, for me, is abusive as fuck. Both men and women cheered hits i made and I made a couple of hits that took IQ points off of the kid. We can’t help that men overtly planned the world. But every man has a woman behind them. I see leftist women wanting to arm themselves for the same reasons conservatives arm themselves. Which is all the reason the Black Panthers and black people have been disarmed. Men are at t…

There are toxic men. As well as women. Incels document themselves online. But I’d work with macho macho men who would brag about their takedowns. Incels just can’t close the deal. But it’s the same toxicity. But I also was in toxic relationships with women. My first girl friend drew blood a few times. But I dated a single mom who was nice and her baby-daddy was a piece of shit. But I was used as a source of income. She wanted to get engaged, but I knew I was being used as a source of steady inco…

Households make choices on a division of labor. The pay gap illustrates this choice and why universal child care is needed. If we have universal childcare, women can maintain their career and never suffer a loss at a divorce; additionally, no childcare bill which can be as much as a mortgage. As long as that division of labor exists in a household, the data will match.

They were “feminist”. But really male dominated. So Europe had feminism that didn’t “go against men”.

That’s my point. It billed itself as feminist, but it was still male dominated. Therefore men weren’t oppressed by feminists.

I mean the general area previously known as. 1989 wasn’t that long ago so feminism might be new to the area. The USSR billed itself as egalitarian.

So if you count a kid as under 18, that’s going to inflate that 40%. Then, if kids are 12 and picking up weapons or whatever, what’s the split by sex.

Should the mother live in close proximity to the husband? What if it’s a case of abuse or the dad doesn’t want anything to do with the kid/ support. My cousin is 65 and still owes $40000 in back child support on his 3 kids, with 2 different women.

It says that girls are more likely to behave and follow class norms. At the end it talks about being marketable in the labor market. Schools are built to supply labor. You have apps like class dojo build specifically to manage behavior. I don’t use it, but I have 37 to a class. I can tell you, I sometimes behave worse than my students:). I think this is important: employers want compliance. But there are probably more boys in leadership positions because there is a “fuck the system” streak. Why …

There a short doc called the Weekly on Hulu where they discuss this. The problem is motherhood. Hillary Clinton attests to this in the doc. Women dropping out of the workforce to have kids. Kids are a liability because the longer you are out of the workforce, the less competitive your skill set. This would be true of any gender; but our society still encourages women to take the brunt of child raising. As much as Reddit is “enlightened” to the issue, the rest of the country operates status quo. …

I get that they are pissed. Society used to not allow women to own property or vote. Women have just recently, historically, gained equal footing in the workplace. But a lot of the mechanics in the workplace are a function of lingering heuristics amongst both sexes. Not every workplace is “white male”. I worked with Mexicans and those guys were some of the most sexist folks you’d meet. I also worked with white guys - same deal. I’ve been out of the private sector for 15 years. I don’t know if it…

I watched something that said the pay gap isn’t women in general, it’s women opting out of the workforce to have kids. This is a societal choice/ cultural norm, not the patriarchy. Women freely choose this. But by the same token, my wife was bullied by her boss after we had our son. Her boss would say some shitty stuff. Thing is, her boss was female.

I think it’s a feedback loop. Go to the toy section of any store and it’s not integrated. You’ll find more “care” and “princess” toys in the girl section and more “build” toys in the boy section. The sports section is also off of the boys section. My in-laws helped raise my daughter until she was 4. She liked bugs, playing ball, getting dirty, etc. At 4 she went to preschool and suddenly liked “girl toys” and wanted to be a princess. The first time I shopped for kid, not baby, toys for her at To…

I see this with my students. I see this with my own young kids. There are sets of societal pressures people succumb to. I can see how people want to change it. But I love that meme where this girl is bitching about gender equality in the sciences and she gets called out for majoring in women’s studies. The dissonance illustrates how pressure shapes choice.
