In Europe sugar taxes are common. While in the US they're deeply unpopular. Because the UK is much fatter than mainland Europe and their healthcare system is much worse than mainland Europe. Same goes for the US compared to mainland Europe obviously. In America corporations want more fat fucks because they can sell them more treatments.
