I am into this because I have skin in the game too Being an "ally" in intersectional/woke contexts almost always means being a punching bag, which you shouldn't be out of self-respect, but I don't think advocating for fairness should only occur if you have skin the game.

(but don't worry, it's men's fault anyway) This is what the concept of internalized misogyny is used for 90% of the time.

All of this applies to the concept of Patriarchy Exactly. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but when you have an ideology that gives carte blanche to any group that is deemed oppressed, that group has every incentive to keep up the facade that they are always being victimized.

At first I just dismissed it as a fun joke. But then I saw that leftist feminists are actually serious about the "men are trash" hill. It is disheartening how many feminists sincerely mean it, especially when they seemingly have no reason to feel that way, having had very privileged upbringings without any real negative relationships with men. But when you spend many hours every single day in online echo chambers that reinforce a certain belief, you yourself start believing it.

People who do not live in a patriarchy honestly believe they do because they are because they are, for a lack of a better term, "gaslit" into believing so. Or they believe in it for the social capital it provides.

Sadly, I think there are people who would legitimately pay for it. People with too much money and not enough sense.

I saw a recent video where he said he charges $3k an hour because that’s how much his time is worth Well, if people are stupid enough to pay him that kind of money, I guess he's right.

He can get away with charging $1000/hr?! And people actually pay him that much? Damn, I need to get in on this grift.

No, I have no interest in doing anal. If I was with a woman who liked it, I'd do it for her sake, but so far that hasn't happened.

In terms of economic attractiveness, you kind of do have to be exceptional, as the middle class gets continually hollowed out. The traditional markers of economic success, like home-ownership, a college degree, some amount of disposable income, etc are becoming further and further out of reach for average men.

A depressing amount of feminists are completely fine with traditional gender roles when those gender roles happen to suck only for men But they'll deny that's the case, or they'll say that it's not their fault because patriarchy. Feminists who are attracted to and want to date men with money, status, and traits that in other circumstances they'd call toxic masculinity contribute quite heavily towards "red pill rage."

but I think it follows similar trends to other societal changes in recent decades: that is the commodification of identity and behaviour. The ideal human in capitalist ideology is a consumer with superficial and transient wants and desires, and every part of them - from their body to their mind - is for sale at some price Yes, exactly. Feminists who are supposedly left wing are mostly completely on board with this too, as long as women are beneficiaries of it at the expense of men. The rhetoric …

Yeah, and the traditional markers of success, like a decent paying job, home ownership, disposable income for travel and some luxuries, etc, are becoming increasingly out of reach for the average men. We should do something about it, and despite feminists' claim that a focus on class is just a way for men to avoid confronting their male privilege, addressing issues related to class and socio-economics would go a long way toward fixing gender-related (and race-related) issues.

wouldn't that also mean a rise of lonely women? Wouldn't (roughly) every lonely man mean a lonely woman? (or rather "wouldn't every man who can't find a relationship mean a woman who can't find a relationship?) That Psychology Today article that came out recently had a subtext that more or less said men need to work on their issues because their increasing loneliness is starting to impact women more and more. I think men's loneliness is more severe right now because loneliness is a function of m…

I've never tried speed dating, but I see it as a step up from Tinder honestly. Tinder is basically speed dating without the advantages that come from talking with the person in real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/22 01:38 AM

The only real fair point made in that Psychology Today article was that men are inherently disadvantaged on dating apps because they outnumber women, the rest of the points being made under the assumption that men's problems would all go away if they were a little less toxic. With that comes the subtext that women's dating issues are also men's fault and the burden to solve that issue falls on men, because our dating issues are obviously related. Men are lonelier right now than women, and probab…

Loneliness is a state of mind, but that doesn't mean it's not related to people's material conditions. Loneliness stems from lacking the connections with people we need to live a full life, and it's not just related to having/not having a romantic relationships, it's also related to the connections you have with family, friends, your community at large, etc, and in addition to it being harder for men to get their intimate needs met, men also have less close relationships with friends these days,…

It's the evolution of old-school adult entertainment, optimised to a razor's edge, to exploit male loneliness, far more insidious and devious than porn ever was. Yup, and the irony of OF being normalized as an empowering career move for women is that it makes it more difficult for both sexes to form healthy relationships. I don't mean to sound like one of those "women most affected" posts, but the reality is that a culture that views relationships more and more as transactional arrangements wher…

I agree, it's complicated, but a big part of men getting these severe porn addictions has a lot to do with how much of an uphill battle dating has become. Those men are going to choose the path of least resistance when it comes to getting their sexual needs satisfied, because the alternative is extremely difficult.

Softcore porn is everywhere in pop culture nowadays, and the amount of sexless men is increasing. Those two things coinciding is probably not a coincidence.

It just took a little longer to get the information out when you had to meet face-to-face Yeah, this is true, but unfortunately, with Instagram and now Tiktok, these things aren't just broadcast to friend groups but the entire world.

The vast majority of women do this Under the age of 30, it seems like it. My ex had no social media, and since then, a woman having one feels like such a turnoff. However, it's something I'm gonna probably have to look past given that social media is so pervasive.

This is just the nature of all heavily censored echo chambers on the internet. They aren't interested in answering legitimate questions, they mostly just want to reinforce what they already believe.

Being a breadwinner has privileges, but those privileges come with the responsibility of providing for others, which is the whole problem when progressives talk about privilege: they assume that all privilege is unearned. Some privileges are earned, some are unearned, and they don't make that distinction because they would prefer to have a more simplistic black and white model of the world.

Meaningful discussions are possible but they're not as "clickbaity," for lack of a better term. Low effort tweets will always get more interaction, and there's really no workaround for this, because most people on Twitter are lazy.

Whoever made those charts is a fucking idiot. 10s "don't exist," and then they put a bunch of actual 10s in the 7 slot. Seriously, in what world are Chris Hemsworth and Emily Ratajkowski not 10s?

The word is left intentionally vague so that the definition can be altered when convenient, but the general definition feminists use is: "a system created by men and ruled by men, for the benefit of men."

And I think part of it comes from the recognition that no one has any sympathy for a grown man who doesn't have his shit together.

They are. It's mind-blowing how vastly different the male vs female experience with online dating is.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/02/22 01:49 AM

Exactly. Look at online dating especially, all the data there shows that women have an OVERWHELMING advantage over men, and to suggest otherwise is just laughable. The advantage is so blatantly obvious, how can it even be denied?

Sounds like common sense to me. Companionship is a psychological need, all things being equal, pretty much everyone is better off with a partner than without one, even if they insist they don't need no man/woman.

I've never been with a girl who didn't make it clear she didn't want to date a player. I don't think my experience is all that unique, and it should be common sense that people who are more interested in having relationships than just having casual sex would view a high body count as a bad sign.

It's not just meaningless, I don't understand the expectation it carries. I mean, do people honestly believe that listening to someone vent to you, as an example, is something that should be monetarily compensated? What an absurd expectation to enter a relationship with.

They're not a simple equation to be solve, they're dynamic, they can change, and with a few exceptions very similar to me (and other women) Once, people approached relationships in this way, they treated the other person like an individual who they'd get to know and grow together with. Dating was a whole lot more fun in those days, it sure as hell beats the culture we're dealing with today.

The majority of women I've heard complaining about "weaponized incompetence" refuse to cook or clean for their male partners at all There seems to be this idea among a lot of feminists that women should never have to clean, cook, or do any household chores because that is what women who were housewives did. Of course, those are all skills that one needs to learn to live independently as well, and many who live independently don't bother to keep their place clean, and order takeout for every meal…

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but "It's not my job to educate you" and anything related to "emotional labor" are merely tactics to weasel out of ever having to defend your position. And if you never have to defend your position, that means you also never have to actually examine it, and see if it holds under scrutiny.

Yeah, although she had a nice body (though she had a lot of bad tattoos and scars from self-inflicted cuts). She was a bit of a butter face though, and she had acne and generally bad skin, and her hair was a knotted up mess, but she was smart, funny, and the way she carried herself made me incredibly attracted to her. She was cute, charming, and she just carried herself with confidence, and she was a lot of fun to talk to. Does anyone know why we feel this way towards certain people? Attraction …

My ex and I broke up right before Covid happened. She was an amazing woman, and it has been tough, but what makes it worse is how bleak the dating world looks now. I know that it won't be impossible to meet someone else, and it's not like it was fun prior to covid, but it looks like hell right now. I'm not in a position where I can actually date anyone right now, so it's not that big a deal, but I do want to be in a relationship, and I honestly dread reentering the dating world.

10 years from now the radical feminists will have a lot of explaining to do in regards to their brazen & unapologetic sexism towards men. Their future prosperity depends on a sincere apology in order to be re-accepted back in to society. Maybe. The culture will be different in ten years time for sure, and I think that the irony of the "call out"/"accountability" culture is that its biggest advocates are gonna find themselves in hot water when there is a cultural shift that puts them in the wrong…

Some of the traditions can have sexist origins, but that doesn't mean they're still sexist, you can participate in them simply for the sake of following traditions. It's like atheists celebrating Christmas.

It is hard to do alone but I can see why many prefer it as men often become just another child to care for If that's the case, then it's irresponsible to have a child with that kind of man. You also discount gay and lesbian couples that can successfully raise happy and healthy children Substitute father for two parents then, in any case, two parents caring for a child is virtually always better than one. Sure, there are cases where it's not, and it's a better situation for the child if the paren…

Many women also have maternal instincts and would like a kid, without the annoying baggage of a man attached First off, how is raising a kid without a partner ever preferable to raising one with a partner? Raising kids is so much work and costs a lot of money, doing it alone is damn near impossible. Second, and more importantly, kids fare far better in life if they have a father figure. It sounds selfish just to have a kid to satisfy a maternal instinct without doing what's in the child's best i…
