Well if they claim to be qualified because they are female that's pretty outrageous and I would have to call them out - did they specifically put it that way? I don't know anything about it, specifically; I actively ignored anything I saw about it for the most part and remained intentionally ignorant. If it had something to do with social justice for women I'm peripherally aware of some backlash because there were people who thought it was a convenient bandwagon for minor or manufactured complaints. Other than that, it was another meaningless Twitter hash tag to me.

That is definitely true. There's no accounting for taste, and even if you have the best of intentions it's all too easy to be misheard and then drowned out. If she was being stupid then she deserved it, but I think there's a good chance it was just the "shoot the messenger" effect with bad tidings and worse timing.

Still not ppd - first there were no "charges" I'm aware of, and second as I and others have pointed out repeatedly she wasn't in the wrong to discuss something newsworthy.
