Judges have judicial immunity. They cannot be sued. That's not to say that you can't do so just for embarrassment purposes but it will likely be dismissed and you may have to pay sanctions. You can file a compliant with the judicial review and post your reviews on the robingroom dot com. I believe you can petition to have them removed from being a judge if you get a certain amount of petition signatures. That's if they were an elected official.

I would say go to the court (family law hearings are/were open to public) and watch the judge and attorneys in session, however with Covid-19 they may be closed in that respect. If you can go in, talk to attorneys as they leave the courtroom and ask them how often they are in front of this judge and how comfortable they feel about him/her. Chances are good if you play your cards right. Get a seasoned attorney to represent you. Preferably one that regularly goes before the judge that has been assigned to hear your custody issues and is liked by that Judge.
