Red Queen is excellent -- Ridley is a zoologist and makes the fundamental arguments without resorting to anecdotes, hearsay, whatever. Throughout the animal kingdom males and females are symbiotic -- not equal!

Women would simply say they were coerced to sign the form. Does she agree to sex in front of witnesses? Well, she changed her mind later -- marital rape.

It seems so incredibly obvious that a woman can have massive power over her man by having sex with him on a constant basis. Yet so many women foolishly think they have power by not having sex. A man will put up with a lot of flaws if a woman has sex with him as much as he can possibly handle.

Yes. Source - forty-something father of four. My wife is much happier when I act like an alpha. Simple as that. She's a smart lady - master's degree, well-off family, etc.

I live in a nice midwest neighborhood; three car garages, five bedrooms, aggressive home owners association. The ladies here (my wife is one) are pretty stable. They have a good thing and they know it. They're kind of chatty on the surface, but guarded underneath. In many cases they are stay-at-home moms. But these ladies don't show up in the singles social scene. A single guy would never know that such women exist. They are busy with kids and with advancing their place within the female social …

So what did the evil TRP poster actually say? I would like to judge its awfulness for myself.

I think everybody in this thread is taking her too literally. Her profile is public, and in western society there are certain things a woman is supposed to say -- like she's in charge etc. She obviously says she's looking for a traditional arrangement, so she might just be looking for someone alpha enough to bring her into his life and let her cook for him. She wants a man to bring her into line and make her serve him.

Maybe she's just rational: she knows that violent domination turns her on, but she's smart enough not to be with an asshole. So she indicates her preference to her current, "normal" guy. Lots of women are turned on by rape fantasies, so long as they consent to the overall arrangement -- they can choose who rapes them.

TRP is for guys who are not born alpha. Why would an alpha study how to get women? Women just show up for him. This place is for guys who are driven to succeed and be happy but they need to get rid of society's woman-on-a-pedestal bullshit. They study techniques to influence women. It is obviously a good thing to study how people work, and how to be successful. Would you go to school to learn chemistry? Yes of course. Then you go to school to learn to influence women as well.

I used to unintentionally creep women out when I would hit on them, now they seem flattered, even when they reject me This is obviously better for women in every way. But the social justice warriors just can't deal with it. Neither can they accept that a woman losing weight is better for that woman.

breaking up is not an option It still is an option, but is strongly avoided if kids are involved. Breaking up is definitely a valuable threat to have available. If you decide you will never break up with a woman, do not ever let her know you have decided this. She needs to believe that you can and will, and then she is more likely to relax and cooperate.

Scarcity works the same in marriage: a woman is more focused in the marriage when she feels that other women want her husband, and he is the best she could get. There are two ways to make this work: the pimp approach which is to devalue the woman, and the alpha approach which is to lead a full and admirable life. I think the pimp approach is less likely to be effective with a smart, adult woman.

I think that leading a family is a natural state for a man, including the long-term mate attraction strategy that is needed to keep your children's mother in a calm and helpful state, which makes the children's lives better. Every movement has flaws and I think one flaw of TRP is too much focus on the short game and taking the easy out of breaking up. A true master of women can "tame the shrew" that he has no matter how bitchy she wants to be.

We married men play a dangerous game: we want to create a legacy through our children and have a long-term-relationship kind of lifestyle. And speaking for myself I'm a little bit of a control freak. I want to possess a woman, impregnate her, keep her in my sphere of influence, then destroy her ass every night. I want to fuck a friend, while looking her in the eye.

In primal evolutionary terms it could be useful to commit your time to a woman who is proven to be fertile. If making babies is your goal - conscious or unconscious - then why waste your life with an unproven mate? It's not cuckolding because the man knows the child isn't his. Of course he may not want to deal with a kid, but it might be fine if the woman is valuable and the child's father is out of the picture.

I think that a lot of feminists are happy hypocrites. They talk equality and symmetry in public, but they live traditionally in their private lives, because they reason that they should do whatever makes them happy.

I'm always surprised when I hear about married guys going "years" without sex. Of course they're exaggerating but even then, my wife wants sex more than I do; I can only handle it once a day, and I have to skip days from time to time. The older they get, the more women like sex, and men's desire diminishes a little bit (but not much). So it's just weird to hear case after case of sexless marriage. I think it must be really stressful on the women not to get any.

The lesson is that anything that can be misused will be misused. Feminism helped to fix some genuine offenses that were occurring in the work and public/legal spaces, but then a bunch of people began to use it as a vehicle to oppress, shame and indoctrinate. I could be in favor of something that made women happier, more confident, and more productive, but instead feminism is used to degrade men, excuse laziness, encourage victimhood and corrupt romance.

The most important lesson here is that an extremely short guy -- Mickey Rooney -- could bed so many women. Damn, we should focus on Mickey Rooney; anybody know more about him? Any info on how he approached women? Dude was a genius.

Old married guy here. Was a religious nice guy in my first marriage, which ended after a few years with all the usual mistakes. Got wise the second time; figured out that women are mostly attracted to non-verbal cues. I became arrogant in a light-hearted sort of way, teased women when there was opportunity, and hit the gym. Found a shy introvert who was sexually inexperienced, but really liked sex, and is a damn fine cook. Married her because she was so much better than other women I encountered…

I was thinking of the many things in a relationship that just "click" and you feel right about it and your partner naturally feels the same. If you deliberately cut a new groove and break old interaction patterns your partner will not naturally agree and it will require a lot of mental discipline. Turning the ship is dangerous because your partner might want to jump off. But the ship must be turned.

There are some valid short-term reasons (pregnancy, illness, etc). But no acceptable reason for the long haul. If one partner loses respect or desire for the other, then they are willing to play "chicken" with the relationship, and the time for confrontation has come. The real skill, the true test of leadership and responsibility, is to provoke the right kind of instability and crisis in a relationship, then use that moment to have a direct talk about what has to change. This has worked for me, …

So I grew up in a stifling religion (Mormonism) where masturbation was a sin, so I did it as often as I could after I left. I never could see a benefit to not masturbating. But clearly you and several others think there is one, so can you explain that better? How does not masturbating do anything good?

"Money" is a general term that covers any sort of resource -- could be short-term or long (smart women go for long-term) and could be cash, housing, parenting, companionship, or sex. Women (and men) should expect to pay for what they want.

So if "having sex for money" is not the definition of whore, then what is? The only other definition I can think of is "a woman that is rejected by society."

Doctors have immense social status and are exempt, as are "astro-physics" majors. Nobody knows what that is, but after Kelly Mcgillis, nobody cared. Probably my perception relates to males in school, not after. But I am wondering if I am wrong, and if it is a case of group think or confirmation bias or women just not showing up in engineering programs, so men get the perception that women are scarce. Wish I could find some solid research; not much use in anecdotes.

Yeah I'm sure there is some self-serving perception mixed in. I spent a lot of time with a lot of people who probably weren't very good at the romance game, and shared a lot of religious nice-guy attitudes. Plus there are few women in STEM majors, so a male could feel a lack of contact simply from lack of exposure, not lack of desirability. I think I read published surveys on this stuff back in the day, but can't put my finger on it now.
/r/TheRedPill11/06/13 12:46 AM

My hypothesis is that if you sort college males by their major, all other things being equal (height, salary, etc) that women will purposefully avoid the STEMs. Not that I have solid statistics for that; it's only a perception of mine, and several others I have talked to.

My own personal experience suggests this, but that is just an anecdote. Here are a few broader points: Consider how nerds and geeks are viewed in popular media -- people who are "smart" are best left in basements; they have greasy hair, wear lab coats, and look at their feet when talking to women. They never touch a gun, except to kill themselves. Seriously, can anybody name an exception to this? On Reddit try searching for the old saw "the odds are good but the goods are odd" and see what it re…

As a guy with a lot of degrees I would like to suggest that there is a minor flaw in the OP's remarks, which are otherwise correct. It turns out that the vast majority of American women look down on people with STEM degrees as geeks, nerds, etc. Women only appear to value degrees that are often awarded to women. It does not seem to me that men with STEM degrees have any better luck in the dating scene than men with no degrees at all. My advice to STEM degree holders is to not mention your major …

My perception of Russian women is that they are cynical and opportunistic, because Russian men are such drunken losers. Yes, the women want to get out, but they are not likely to trust a man and might just use him. No personal experience with this at all, so maybe it's just my shitty interpretation of Russian society. So when women "run wild" would you advocate cutting off their clitoris without anesthetic? That seems to be a common practice in a number of countries. Really, this subreddit should not get involved in this kind of discussion. You definitely do not want to be associated in any way with the barbaric treatment of people that occurs in those bad places around the world. There is no need to give up on relationships. The idea is to get what you want, to be successful, and you have to choose what that is for you. A big part of that is realizing that women are not special. They are about as good, evil, clever, stupid, honest or deceptive as men. They want sex about as much as men. The one asymmetry is that a majority of women want a man to dominate them sexually, and in the current public mind this is unacceptable. Of course women are attracted to men who are confi…

Don't fall for simplistic indicators that look like a checkbox on a form. Talk to the woman and find out what she's like. Would you automatically trust someone who came from a two-parent home? No. So why discard somebody from a broken home? Maybe her dad was an ass. Maybe her mom was an ass and she always liked her dad. Find out the details.

First, if you want to succeed in life you need to think about what everybody else cares about. Second, we are born with several biological imperatives, and long-term relationships is one of them. If you want to be successful and happy in life, a "one metric" approach is probably not going to work. Yes the objections of feminists are irrelevant. But you seem to take an approach that is unrealistically narrow -- as though you've given up on big picture issues like living a long and happy life.

Old man engineer here; this is not usually where I post. It looks to me like your rational and primal brains (the new vs old) are in conflict. This happens to a lot of people. It will not do any good to wish that you could be less interested in men, or wish that you could be sexual without men or women or whatever. That is built into you; it is not a choice; it is millions of years of evolution. This subreddit is a little too cynical when it comes to relationships; there are in fact a great many…

Ayn was more alpha than most of us will ever be. She was also, from all appearances, a failure as far as relationships are concerned. Sad really, because reading Atlas Shrugged is such a powerful mental experience. But Galt was a stupid character. The real star of the show is Rearden, and it always pisses me off that he gets sidelined later in the book. Rearden is the non-hero character who steals the show. Like Han Solo or Huck Finn.

There has been a recent trend in psychology to study happiness (rather than just studying abnormality, mental illness, etc). And one of the things they study is happy marriages. From memory I think they grouped marriages by type into "traditional", "modern equality", and probably some other categories. The traditional ones, where man works and wife stays home, seem to have the most reliable benefits. The man is typically four to ten years older than the wife in "traditional" marriages and plays …

It would be convenient from an internal psychology point of view if one could be a Johannes the Seducer for a decade or so of one's life in order to find a mate, then go through a pair-bonding with the mate and move to the Atlas Shrugged state so that there is no desire to go out hunting for other women. There are a fair number of women out there who make good life partners and are smart enough to not fall for Johannes the Seducer. But they appear to be very rare because they find a partner and …

You are moving past momentary pleasure and asking about the big picture, and this is something that happens to people naturally as they age. I am forty-something with several kids and a wife (and an ex-wife in my distant past). Was raised mormon, am now atheist. You are correct that there is no cosmic meaning. My experience, and that of many others, is that the meaning of life is love -- the love of family, children, wives, best friends, etc. There is an old book (Man's Search for Meaning) that …
