Why would I send that? Because that’s what people in relationships do (especially in lockdown) - it wasn’t some trashy nude - just my legs in the bath. Instead of making some nice comment/compliment about me his default was to observe the wine glass at the end of the bath. I don’t think his comment is gross, but he chose not to say anything nice or complimentary, which based on other comments is a form of negging in this scenario it seems

Yeah he did ruin it and deflated is a really good way to describe it. I got out almost immediately cos I felt rubbish, and no longer sexy. Sigh...

You’re in your early 20s!? Geez I wish I had that emotional maturity at your age. I’m 36 and I still haven’t got this stuff figured out.

I’m so sorry for hijackjng your post!!!! Huge credit to you for calling this stuff out. I’m often not that “brave” - feel like relationships with men are fragile and I don’t want to break them. I’ve got a lot to learn when it comes to FDS.

Thank you - you’re totally right. It made me feel shit. What I thought he would say was something about me in the bath - it was intended to be sexy (and was a pretty sexy photo, even if I say so myself!)... instead I get nothing but weird comments about wine and toys. Seeing him tomorrow so will bring it up... why do we put up with this shit?

I find it tricky to know when a guy is negging. Can I give an example... sent a pick of me in the bath last night - G rated, just my legs with bubbles... but enough I would have thought to be a bit interesting and sexy, which was the point ... he sends this: “Your wine is awfully far Away. Did you get all the kids toys out first 😂” (Context: I have a 4 year old, and apparently he can’t even use her name either.. just “kid”) He sends nothing else... 😔 Edit for typos

I’m a lawyer. There are definitely too many sandwiches in the pool.

As it happens, the anniversary falls on my birthday, so is always a celebration!

This used to be my life. And I used to get in trouble for “nagging” him about picking up his shit and not being a slob.

What if you don’t want to get married? I’ve been there done that - don’t want to do it again. What would “commitment” look like in the absence of marriage?

I prefer to be hairless. That is 100% something I do for me and no one else ... but this thread makes me feel like I’m buying into some porn industry ideal and I should be ashamed of that. Can’t win....

Help. I’m in this right now. And the red flags aren’t winning. I’m so angry at myself. I allowed myself to develop feelings, when the red flags have been there all along. Why do we do this to ourselves?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
