I don't really understand what some people have against expressing enthusiastic agreement either lol

We should be focusing more on stopping rape as an action rather than teaching women not to wear revealing clothes or drink in public or whatever else. [...] And I do think it's important to teach women in particular how to avoid certain situations that might lead to rape. Yep, There should definitely be a healthy balance between self-defense but also stopping potential rape itself. There at the very least shouldn't be a stigma (aka victimblaming) against someone "failing" to defend themselves. H…

that's a fair point. But maybe "teaching consent and effective communication" might be a better sell or approach. Positive rather than a negative. Tho that's just semantics. People might feel like its being implied they're innate would-be rapists, if they have to be taught how not to, considering that it's also being taught to children. idk. Also these efforts usually target boys exclusively. If 'teach not to rape' should be a thing, then it should be gender-neutral, just like there are rapists …

Well damnit, I looked and I regret it. Still don't get how they're so in denial about biology and pretending guys can all sit easily with their legs pressed together. They also never address the physical harassment some men got. They can only retort with 'what about the menz'. That's their whole argument: "who cares about boys". That's it. The end of their joke. So dumb.

yeah that seemed like an overreaction on the teacher's part. Didn't seem like her intentions for that statement were all that positive when she couldn't defend it properly and instead used her authority to silence dissent, than actually addressing the criticism.

Edit: read the question wrong the first time Pro-men theme sounds great. I'm all for learning from feminism's successes, not just its mistakes. I don't know if this would interest some people? (Note: don't agree with some things in it) But there are classes that teach what went into feminist activism behind the scenes. A few of the reading material in the syllabus might be of interest to sift through? Here's a list of some organizations; it might do good to research how they were created, establ…

Gay people, like everyone else, can do as they please. Feminists have no duty to save the world. Of course. I don't think people are asking feminism to save everyone, just that others need to stop claiming it will. and actually accomplish something that helps men [...] These people can't even manage to hold a damn conference. In fairness there have been two MRM "accomplishments" to speak of, that i know of at least: During Christmas/New Years 2014 on the honey badger radio, they hosted silent ca…

Oh I definitely agree. Maybe should have rephrased that line. But as a whole, gay men do make up most victims of homophobic violence. Tho that's partially because there are fewer transwoman than gay men population-wise I'd guess. Percentagely taking that into account might be a different case. I do believe transwoman have an even higher risk of being targeted if I remember correctly. I'd have to look into it again. I just find it weird that where women make up majority of victims "gender matters…

First, What's your take on gay people not identifying with feminism? Do you agree with any of the tweets? Second. Granted, tweets aren't the best references (I'm surprised these didn't make the list), but it's still a look-see into thoughts of movement's members mentalities, and what ideologies it's hosting. In feminist groups I used to participate in (both offline and online), "radical feminist theory" (on the subject of gay men) was cited sporadically but nonetheless consistently. Or maybe I j…

True, it's moreso patients' rights. But I can see partial relevance to men in the sexual verbal abuse, or her weirdly expressing anger that he attended what used to be an all female-school, calling him gay. Or even her comments telling him to 'man up', and that she would like to assault him so he would. :"to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit" Do you think that her supporting negative gender roles for boys and shaming him for not being masculine enough is really completely off-top…

yep, this is pretty much a non-issue. I understand that people saying sexist or hypocritical shit should be pointed out and criticized at times, but this isn't really one of those moments. On CC, men and women get relatively equal shit. And anyway why take comedians so damn seriously. Legal rights and discrimination should be the primary focus, rather than nitpicking every little friggin thing or statement, yet the latter threads get more upvotes... =_=

I'm not that great with words but: don't give up. Even if you're in a minority, you aren't alone friend. The going is slow for positive change but it is better than nothing. There's more to life than falling love and getting married. You can still have friends and meaningful relationships and other enjoyable hobbies. Life can still be fun. Cause I mean, it's one thing if you're saying you're giving up on men's cause because the outlook looks bleak and I will not blame you. But do not give up on …

Glad you ask. Okay interested folks, prepare for history recap. (Edit: mispelling) Essentially Rosie the Riveter is a character first mentioned in a 1942 hit song Rosie the Riveter written by John Jacob Loeb and Redd Evans, that was performed by several artists and went on to became a national icon. I agree for some of what you're saying. In your opinion, if i'm getting it right, both the dudes and girl got light punishments for their respective actions technically ultimately. The semantics of revenge porn is a bit debatable- to me regardless of how you received the porn, if it's distribution of pornographic material of someone without their permission to the general public as 'punishment', then it fits the bill, even if they were in the wrong too. I'm fine with the dudes being banned- they…

Honestly this feels more like people who subconsciously have issues with absent father figures (note: not all single parent kids are like that), and feel like they're missing out because they can't celebrate anyone for father's day, so they're trying to substitute their mother for it. "she was also my father". There's something weirdly 'compensating' and self-consoling about it. Even if this was supposed to be gratitude toward mothers, it sounds too much like subtle grief.

Gay men who like / choose / identify with typically "masculine" concepts and activities and do not identify with effeminate behaviour are viewed with suspicion and ostracised. Yeah I've seen gay men get shit for that before. Occasionally even feminine lesbians as well. You'd think the only requirement for being 'genuinely' gay would be being attracted to the same gender- not masculinity/femininity levels. Yet some idiots believe being feminine is the only 'valid' representation of male homosexua…

Does feminism really own the LGBT movement that you can't support it without subscribing to feminism? I mean, the only reason I didn't think the MRM should coopt homosexual discrimination as a cause is because there is already a movement covering it and it's not just men who are gay/bi/ect. So just like it's a bit disingenuous for a female-focused movement to claim ownership of advocacy of LGBT (that has members of both genders), it would be in poor taste for the mrm to do similarly. I figured t…

redpill isn't mra. There's a lot of angry clashes/rivalry between mrm and redpill. Gamergate isn't the mrm either. Gamergate's goal has shit to do with advocacy for men's rights. And majority of gamergate members don't give a damn about the Mrm or boys' situation, just their gaming hobby being threatened or whatever drama there is to do with it. Not gonna even start with anti-gg also being doxxers, yet their "association" with feminism doesn't get feminism's posts deleted for whatever reason.

Ineffective, because chauvinists and false accusers can simply find mixed-gender jobs where they can take advantage of people. -"other people". Except the people that avoided them in a segregated space in the first place that they can't bother them in won't be among their victims? That IS the ultimate protection. Thanks for the clarification. If you're saying there's no exact 'right way' for a victim of molestation or rape to respond and it should be up to them what course they take to address it (within reason?), I guess I understand that. That and because it's a lot more nuanced than mainstream dictates? I think you have a point. Certainly persons that do not feel they were raped or victimized shouldn't be shamed for it, and their voice should be listened to. But that said, do you think there should be…

I disagree. Someone (that isn't your partner and never got the okay) touching you in your sleep really isn't okay. If they're a single man they'll react to it in a healthy manner I guess we obviously have different opinions on what a healthy reaction is. if it increases productivity, I think gender segregation might be better actually. So long as it is elective. As in there could be male and female only branches but also mixed ones. Well they sound like they're well-meaning and their views are overall cool, minus first yes. (but that's usually not malice, just lack of fact-checking). Rather than debatable numbers, I think a bigger question is who holds the reigns. I didn't do anything to anyone because they were feminist... 0.o Did i at any point say that i agreed with the standards? No. If people who are drunk initiate sex, regardless of their gender, they consented in my book. I don't consider her a rapist. To be honest, as an egalitarian, egalitarianism as an official movement might be harder to achieve, since people seem to be hardwired for specialization... in so far as- they will probably have a 'focused' interest of some sort that they will prioritize/ be passionate about, in a way that they won't find a 'larger melting pot' as appealing. Feminism having mentally-ill members doesn't seem all that relevant, and I'd say a fair share of mras also suffer from depression or other mental disorders. I don't think that means either are 'rooted' in mental illness for that. Course, depression and mental afflictions are a 'human' thing, not a 'feminist' thing or 'mrm' thing for that matter. Why one gay person in particular? Is there something unique about the gay person, when you are objectifying the ideal he is supposed to represent- as a gay man? That he is replaceable for? You don't have to hate all men to be sexist against men in certain demographics. If you treat both gay women and men the same, then you're neither a misogynist or a misandrist. no one in politics cares about men's rights, it's not a right or left issue. Yup, No disagreement there. The right versus left shtick won't work when men's rights is a topic because neither side offers positives. You don't "win" by showing the opposite side's bad points, when you don't have any good points for your side on the same topic yourself, and even have similar stances. So there's no 'coming out on top' here. But I still consider YOUR OWN representatives and officials to be your responsi…

Yeah but she's not right wing. So they're not the ones obligated to police her. Like neither party are great about this when it comes to men, right-side has their traditionalist shit which fucks over men still. (I'm personally independent) But we're talking about 'controlling your own' here. It's not wrong to point out who's doing a bad job of it, which is their responsibility? I'll give you that the generalization though is shitty and right wing does not have a spec of valid moral superiority w…

Nah, because I was a shy fuck and didn't confront anyone about it, naively hoping it would dissipate on it's own. There's this sorta strange helplessness and paralyzing confusion when you're bullied for something you not even are. And I just didn't want to bring more attention to it than there already was. The little bit of defensiveness I exhibited they twisted around into being my "trying too hard to be straight" anyway, so it was cyclical. Felt like a no-win situation. Anything more I said wo…

I'm not sure if we're using the same ideas of 'experiment' here. I believe in children just getting to do whatever they want with encouragement and support whatever it is they are into- irregardless of what is or isn't reinforcing the gender status quo, and subduing gender roles that way. Not being 'systematically exposed to _____' with an agenda (of parents or anyone else's) or guideline of any sort (being as 'normative' as possible, or viceversa as 'different' as possible) either way- in order…

I don't think anyone's arguing women shouldn't get awareness either? Only that both men and woman's stats be as factual as possible. Misrepresentations of issues don't aid the issues themselves, nor act informatively. And also it's lacking credibility can make it subject to criticism- therein (unhelpfully) invalidating its point, and being detrimental to i…

it is progress in so much as men are being acknowledged as victims, and awareness as much in of itself. But what none of us realized was how each sex was the other's slave in different ways and therefore neither sex was the other's "nigger" ("nigger" implies a one-sided oppressiveness). If i'm reading this correctly, I think i can get behind what it's saying. But in summation, while it does make a comparison on gender and racial demographics of who make the majority of prison populations/labor/homelessness/shorter life-longevity/ect, there are similarities, which i can readily acknowledge as well;…

Then why use a slur against black people and try to make it about men. It would be one thing if you were just comparing hate groups and how they target people and looking for similarities, but you are taking a specific insult used against black people to be redirected and in reference to men. To call men the 'new nigger' is a whole nother shindig. From the getgo. You mention 'nigger = misogynist' earlier? Downvoted because. I don't think it's good to co-opt black people's racial struggles in the mrm, to be about gender. About how yes: in all likelihood 'abuse of children' isn't a gendered thing; But since women are the majority in charge of children in how society works right now, it makes sense they would "appear" more violent statistically. But "they are more violent" is Not a valid conclusion. It's more so that they have 'more opportunity'. If that makes sense. I also think the leniency of consequences for abusive women contributes to their 'cap…

but does nothing to prove that women are more likely to kill children than men if time spent with children is controlled for. This is a valid point though. Still it doesn't change that, as the situation stands currently, one of children's higher-expectant threats are actually women and not men, because the former are the adults/caretakers they are most exposed to and therefore vulnerable to should they snap.
