Yeah, I've been doing that, reading too much, but I really had to, because I had some issues to work out within myself. For example, No More Mr. Nice Guy! really helped me a lot in figuring why I acted in certain ways! Also, I had to improve my voice and other stuff, so the books really did help. But really, this is a very good tip, because there was a period when I just wanted to read everything, and I realized that it was just a stalling tactic, so that I wouldn't go out and really practice. A…

Hey man, it's cool! Trust me, I've been telling myself that for three hours on Saturday, that, "It's just a club, just go in," and I felt so stupid that I couldn't. Luckily I'm learning a whole lot about myself from all these self-help books that I've read and will continue to read (I'll be able to teach people after this is done :)) ), and I slowly realize that I care too damn much about what other people think, and that simply is not attractive. Thanks for the tips, I'll take baby steps and sl…

Well, it would be technically bummed in! :P EDIT: I'm not depressed, I was just using that as an example :)

Real helpful man, thanks! Sorry that some things aren't as easy to me as they are to you! You think I didn't want to go? You think I don't know that it's not a big deal? Jeez... Sorry to break it to you, but people are different, and sometimes telling a depressed person to stop being sad or something like that won't work. Sure, you know some people have it worse than you, but things aren't that simple. The mind is a strange beast. Are you Shia LaBeouf? It would've been funnier if you would've ju…

Okay, thanks for the tips! I already gave up drinking before going out, it truly is a crutch!! Thanks!

I checked just now, but there are no RSD meetings in my town. I would have tried a coach or something before, but unfortunately I couldn't find none near me. Well, I could have had bigger obstacles, I guess. I understand what you're trying to say, I should trick my mind somehow. I wish my mind would cooperate, we're supposed to be on the same team. :D No matter, with meditation I'll conquer the beast. Thank you again for the tips and the encouragement! It's just what I need, to know that I'm not…

Unfortunately my friends don't like clubs and stuff. Thanks for the advice, though!

Okay, I'll check out the books you mentioned! Thanks for explaining this stuff to me and having faith in me! I really needed that!

What I hate is that I didn't tame my mind yet, because deep down I know that nothing bad can happen. I really think it's great that I found this helpful community, because now I feel like someone is actually rooting for me!

Hey man, thank you so much for responding!! I thought I was crazy. I really thought that something was wrong with me, and there was no use in trying anymore!! I'm usually very persistent about stuff, even today I walked for about 4 hours to calm myself, but I just couldn't do anything. I'll go out more and try to engage more, in general. Thank you very much for the link, I'll definitely check it out!

I'm trying to get into meditation, been reading lots of books lately. I might even try NLP, words are powerful things! Thank you very much for your help!

Okay, thanks for the input! The thing is that I've been rejected before and I kind of know that it's not personal, sometimes people like different things, it's nothing personal. Oh my god, did you have this much trouble at the beginning? Thanks again!

Wow, that's a really cool opener, thanks for that! It's really good because I bet she can also relate to similar experiences from her life, chances she couldn't take but didn't. OMG, you're a genius, Fez!! Trust me, I know what you're saying, I've been drunk in clubs and on the street too, it's part of the process for some people. :) Thank you!

(for some strange reason, your reply only shows up in my inbox, and not in the thread.) thanks for the tip, I'm day gaming. I never thought of alcohol. I understand though, that it's just for the beginning of my journey. I hate it that I understand, on an intellectual level, that nothing bad can happen, and I'm sure that, after I finally get the courage to do it, I'll be like, "Was it really that easy?" Did you have a similar journey? Thanks again for responding!

Hey, thanks for responding! I just finished reading Mark Manson's book and it opened my eyes, but I still had issues with approaching girls in the street. I realize that Vulnerability is huge, and I wasn't that scared for me or how embarrassing it might be for me, it was just that I didn't want to freak random girls out. (though that part that Mr. Manson said about "girls secretly root for you whenever you approach" really helped me!) Thanks again for responding!

Hey, thanks for responding! The thing is that I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect, that I wouldn't even leave the house! Thank you for confirming what I suspected to be true, sometimes I really just need to talk to someone else and get out of my head! I'm slowly realizing that I was just stalling. I'll go outside more now, thank you and have a great day!!

Thanks for responding and for your insight! I work out and dress better and groom myself better, so I won't have to worry about these things anymore. I even got a book about how jokes work and such. Thank you for putting things in perspective! EDIT : lol, I just realized that I used the word "insight" and you gave me the eyes analogy! It was totally not on purpose! :)

Ok, thank you for your responding. I always saw advice about getting my life in order first, but it's been almost two years now and I feel like I'm just stalling at this point. It's a vicious cycle, because it would really help me to have someone in my life, but I feel that I'm not good enough, and I can't get at 100% without having someone with me. People are social beings, after all.

Thank you for responding! This is a great community, I thought people would laugh at me, thank you very much to everyone here who took the time to respond! (and to everyone on this subreddit, they really give out good advice and not laugh at people or judge)

Hmmm, I think I see what you're trying to say. I always suspected that I'm self-sabotaging myself because I was scared or something! I think waaaay too much sometimes, and it's usually very bad. Btw, sorry if this question was answered before, I just really wanted someone to tell me directly, feels like I'm talking to someone and I think that that holds me accountable in a way. Can you please answer something for me: how can I stop caring less and accept that losing contact with people is normal…

Hello, thanks for your response! I've read most of the stuff on the sidebar and some AMAs from the sidebar and some books on the subject, it's just that I can't imagine stopping someone and having a conversation without seeming so damn creepy. In my heart, I know I'm not a pervert or clingy or needy, it just seems so strange to me. Though if others have done it, I might do it also, if you guys say it's not as creepy as I imagine it to be. Is there any method you would recommend?

Wow, thank you guys so much for responding!! I have another question: is it okay to pursue a woman, even if my life isn't 100% in order? I mean, I would really like to have girls in my life, but I'm not 100% with myself. Though I'm improving everyday, I work out, I take care of myself, I like my job, it's just that I'm lacking in some fields (very few friends). Can I improve, but at the same time go after girls? Or, first improve, then girls? I feel that I'll never reach 100% life order, and I'm…

Also, read No More Mr. Nice Guy!, by Robert Glover. It's really, really good!
