On one hand, I don't want to compromise values that have been a big part of nearly half my life. This is the problem. If this is a value you hold and you feel like you're helping him do something you consider wrong, then it's going to inherently be a problem. To be clear, you're not pushing anything on him just by not participating in what he chooses to do. If this isn't a compromise to your values and it's just your perception of what being vegetarian is supposed to look like/what you're expect…

My advice is that you shouldn't let yourself be held to a different standard within the marriage. I don't mean that you should cheat, although there are some people who could argue that and maybe have some legitimate points. I just mean that if you don't get an opinion on his behavior, he doesn't get an opinion on yours. The male grocery manager texts you to tell you every time your favorite cuts are in, and your actively cheating husband is uncomfortable with it? He shouldn't go looking, then. …

Do you like him enough to freeze your eggs and be a mother 5 years later than you planned? (Assuming you want children.) If the answer is yes, then I think the biggest issue here is dealt with. Yes, there is a real chance this goes south, so you need to be really sure on your answer. Do you want to risk that scenario? If so, then nobody here will know your connection the way you do. Is this about him not liking how stressed you are at the moment, or not liking your actual personality? Because it sounds like the latter. If he is asking you to change who you are, you deserve more respect than that. I don't think this is necessarily a good fit.

There are some people you can develop attraction to over time, and some you can't. If you can't, then it won't work. You should be able to see some potential there, and you should develop the spark within the first month or two. If it's not happening, that's okay. And to be clear, when I say "potential," I do not mean potential to change. I mean the potential to appreciate what they're like as they already are.

There is a free 12-step program called SLAA (sex and love addicts anonymous). Maybe it's right for you, and maybe not, but it's easy to try a few meetings and see. Group settings can actually statistically help more than individual therapy with some things, and addiction is one of those. If you don't want to be identifiable to your local community, I believe there are zoom options.

After doing some self reflection I’ve become disgusted with myself. You probably need to reflect a little bit more. In order to forgive yourself, you need to know why you did it and how you're going to keep it from happening again/ what other behavior you will use to meet the need that you were meeting with those men. People don't hurt themselves like this for no reason. My guess is that you did it because you believe you deserve poor treatment, evidenced by how you're speaking of yourself here.…

I grew up in the age of romanticized awkwardness, so I'm a fan of just saying, "I need to say something, but I don't know how to bring it up organically. Do you have a minute to hear me out on a few things?" And I'd bring it up in a private place when you don't have anything important you need to rush off to. And if you're worried about forgetting to say something that is important to you, there's nothing wrong with taking a post-it along for the ride. Wishing you a very happy future regardless,…

A few things matter here: Time has helped heal you. He has shown you what a healthy relationship can feel like, and you're grateful for that. Your idea of when and how you want to marry has changed, and he deserves to know that. You are happy to give him a few weeks to process this and share how he feels about it after it's settled in, if he needs that time. You will understand if this means he wants to go separate ways, and you know he will respect you enough not to continue the relationship un…

It sounds like you do have ambitions, but they may not be his idea of what an ambitious woman looks like. Do you share these values, or are you expecting him to grow into them? Additionally, I am concerned that if you really do not have passion about other things, you could lack passion for what you dream of once you're in the trenches of it. The reason that concerns me is that having zero interests whatsoever sounds like possible untreated depression and/or possibly something in that vein. It's…

"Unfortunately, I'm not available. I hope you can find someone to watch them while you're at book club this week, though. It sounds really fun!" The way you avoid explaining why is by switching the focus back to them right after you decline. If they still switch the con ersation back by asking why you're unavailable, I would just say it's a personal issue and, politely (and, if necessary, repeatedly) refuse to answer. If this means they leave the friendship, then you weren't a friend. You were j…
