She pathologized her fear and anxiety into a media-directed conception of Trump and broke herself, and remains so self-unaware that she can't even figure that much out. She needs psychiatric help.

I've been through this scenario half a dozen times. At this point I expect it as an eventuality that will always repeat itself as my life goes on. I've become much more selective with people I make friends with now though, so hopefully good times last longer.

It pains me to see that some of reddit is taking this like a joke. This is serious. It's another bad sign about the ideological divide in America.

Meanwhile, Rupert Grint (who seems to be the smart one) seems to have steered clear of making any political statements whatsoever to my knowledge. He's just out there living and enjoying life, instead of being a moral busybody.

Discord and Skype are both pretty decent but lack forum functions. Not familiar with google hangouts, probably easy to set up too. I figured not everyone would have steam so it seemed wise to propose multiple platforms. At this point could get it going already, but with such a small group expressing interest so far I'd figure it might be best we all go our own way. We'll still all see each other around in the various existing open circles of the 'manosphere', I hope. Give it a few days to a week…

Here's the thing. I've thought this over and I think I have a good idea of why the group fell apart, and it's not just because of the person who ran the site, but I think rather more to do with the nature of the group itself. It was closed. Invite-only. You could even call it 'secret'. This aligns well with the intentions of anyone who might desire to create a group with a sense of elitism to it, you've got yourself a men-only club (that part I still agree with) with something akin to an ideolog…

I haven't heard from the moderators about it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone for good. I sent a dozen or so people my contact info to keep in touch just in case days before it went down, only a couple responses back so far. I propose the following to anyone interested: We could make a new group to stay in touch in or across the platforms of skype, discord, and steam if it appeals to anyone. I personally think we should only start a new group if 10+ people express interest, though. …

You're not wrong. But many men are still new to the red pill that is MGTOW philosophy, and it typically results in a lot of anger and they deal with it in different ways. As long as men keep discovering they've been being lied to and manipulated by society from the very start, it's a good thing they have somewhere to vent/complain about it and be understood and given good advice from people who've already gotten through it instead of being left to take it out on people out in the real world.

It's been forever since I made a post on this particular subreddit even though I still consider myself a 'man going his own way, but your post was so insightful that it brought me out the woodwork because I had to applaud your little essay. I like your theory of knowledge, it reminds me of how I construct my own and it gives me hope for the future to see that kind of thinking expressed by others.

I adore classical music, which has been allowed to reach new heights thanks to modern genres and technology enabling certain wonderful combinations of sound. For example, the Metallica S&M concert of 1999 is one of my all time favorites combining classical and metal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2Hgy_L3eXc

I'm not trying to recruit anyone. You can vote for whomever you wish, or not. If you're not American, you're free to talk about the issues in your own country too. If I've stated here a couple times my intent to vote for Trump, it's because I thought it was relevant to MGTOW interests. Perhaps not yours, but I never expected everyone to agree. It would be boring if everyone thought the same thing. As an American, I think Trump would be a step in the right direction to counter the insanity of the…

You sound a lot like me in what I've done. No cable, recently quit facebook, never had a twitter to begin with, ad block and noscript on constantly, I'm irreligious, I hold onto my money and try to save up, don't care for sports, want practical clothes, I'm driving a 15 year old car I keep repaired myself, and I'm also registered independent planning on voting for Trump. One of my friend's girlfriends (who is also a self-proclaimed feminist, surprise surprise) used to do this shit to me all the time by asking for rides and such constantly, and I eventually got so sick of it and her I stopped hanging out with them altogether. There were other reasons but her basically ruining my enjoyment of hanging out with that old group of friends was most of it. Now, the friends I have are a small circle of people I play videogames with, and while I would like a good IRL frie…

Are you really sure you can respect yourself putting on a mask like that for more than a couple of years? I would say screw all that and try to strike out on your own as an entrepreneur. This may sound odd, but I haven't had that happen to me despite pretty much not talking to my old friends at all anymore. I am invisible even though my job has me working in public, and in some ways that bothers me. Makes me feel like nobody cares and that I'm probably perceived as a loser. Whatever, I guess, right? This might sound a bit silly, but I was watching an episode of Star Trek last night that broached upon the issue of 'trust' that I thought was very insightful. Long story short, in the end, the characters decided that the outcome of the future would most likely be alright, as long as there was still trust in society. It led me to think, how much trust is there in our societies right now? Not much, probably the complete opposite. Things have gotten bad enough that basic trust of just about anyone…

It's become more and more apparent to me over the past few months too. Here I am, doing my damnedest not to commit acts of confirmation bias towards a perspective I was already inclined to agree with (AWALT and other facets of MGTOW claims) for the sake of intellectual honesty and to keep and open mind, and the result? Reality repeatedly confirming concretely what I was willing to give a huge benefit of a doubt to in order to remain objective. I see it everywhere. It's crazy man. I feel like I'm…

I'd rather not encourage that as an intended goal, in principle. If it happens, so be it. If we stay fringe, that's fine too. I thought this was about each one of us choosing how we go forward as individuals independent of the trap that is the modern relationship game and various societal traps in general, a loose collective of disparate men who group together in places like this merely for the exchange of information, ideas, and support. That's why I won't advocate treating it like a cult to be…

Usually I don't have anything to say about these sorts of stories, but observation of the general public's reaction to them spurs my response this time. This story and the one about Martin Shkreli run along a very similar tangent in terms of what people are jumping to conclusions about. I once got into a debate a few years ago with a woman who described herself 'intersectional feminist' on a post from an old friend's page. This was before I found MGTOW and TRP. I saw an exchange going on between some people laughing it up about Gamergate who I thought didn't know what they were talking about, figured I'd present them a different perspective, the precise perspective they were acting so dismissively of that they had only ever learned about from politically-correct media and hears…

Well, what I linked is from a pretty innocent source honestly. It's just a random meme page that tries to play up a sort of counter-culture position by making fun of just about everybody. It's just meant for laughs, I don't think the page owner has any active goal as far as I can tell. Just a (new) dumb meme-esque post post I ran across today that I thought was a relevant demonstration of why it's best not to go around proselytizing MGTOW, as this is the likely general reaction. The comments on the post I capped were all quite disappointing too, but that's to be expected. I am surprised to see MGTOW getting noticed more and more though. Best not to take it too seriously, but keep in mind this is what people think if you tell them you're 'going your own way'. What do you think?

All it really takes is just once having the thought cross one's mind 'wait, what's the point of this other than following natural reproductive instincts?' If one follows that line of thought to it's logical conclusion it becomes apparent that there is nothing special about 'love', that romance is nothing more than an illusion. After that what you choose to do with that realization is up to you, but it's unlikely you'll find yourself swept up in such an illusion again without at least having seco…

I've spent so much time reflecting and yet, I'm still not sure how it is I want to create what I want to create as a record of my life's discoveries. I have this sense that it's something very valuable I could contribute, if only I could acquire more knowledge and wisdom. But I'm never quite there. Just because you can't think of any doesn't mean they don't exist. My own parents are still happily married and likely will be until death by my best estimation. You know what I find interesting about the matter of maternity leave? I noticed a long time back when Bernie Sanders was still a candidate that it was part of his platform of issues. He brought it up numerous times, this and that about 'the United States is the only country where women aren't guaranteed paid maternity leave, and we're gonna fix that'. This is an interesting topic in terms of economics. Something similar is going on large scale in the UK to a degree of serious economic detriment. I'm not British myself but due to following a few British youtubers I know a bit about some things going on in their country. What might you recommend reading in terms of that research? Would an introductory book on evolutionary psychology generally be a good place to start or would you have something more specific to recommend? As I hope is obvious in my desire for empirical grounds to hoist my perspective upon, I have genuine interest about the scientific basis of this matter and how it was formed.

I'll gladly agree with the point lower in the thread by JackJohnsonJohnMayor in response to my larger post explaining what I meant where he made clear the purpose of the statement 'AWALT'. Now, in response to your post, that is part of the problem with evaluating this, and why I responded bringing up my concerns about it. My guess might be too high, or too low. My guess is based on knowing there are a few women historically I've heard of who followed intellectual pursuits (women scientists and w…

Very well said. I did not know AWALT was meant as a cautious reminder to men who think they've found 'the anomaly'. I just thought it was being used as a generalized statement as though it was an empirical fact, and that didn't sit well with me. Of course I'm not looking for a unicorn myself, my personality isn't even conducive to romance because it bores me. I don't want to 'beleive' NAWALT, I just thought it was probable that some outliers that don't fit on the spectrum exist considering a hyp…

Since it seems relevant, why don't we examine the terms 'AWALT' and 'NAWALT'? As is known, these terms stand for 'all women are like that' and 'not all women are like that'. Key descriptors being that women are the subject of the the term and 'like that' is an implication towards how they are, with each term stating the opposite of the other. One is a generalization and the other is an antigeneralization. But what do we mean by 'like that'? I think the consensus tends to be that when used these …

'Scare' may not be the right word but for the purposes of the point of the phrasing what really 'scares' me (rather, concerns me) is that MGTOW is continuously proving itself to me to be the logical response to the current state of society. I really want someone to come along and prove me wrong about women, and in my mind I'm really not making it hard to do so. I try really hard to keep my perspective in a falsifiable state such as that counterevidence and counterargument can change it. Hell, I'…

I personally have no such fear because I'm fairly confident of my ability to defend myself in a hypothetical court situation. I'm not absolutely sure what would be enough but I surmise that, given enough of a display of articulation, courteous behavior, and consistent logic before a judge, I could win against a false accusation. The funny thing about the concept of selfishness is that none of us ever originally chose to be brought into existence. By that basis alone is seems perfectly reasonable to act primarily in one's own interest instead of solely that of others. We owe the world nothing, and the world in turn owes us nothing. In a society that holds its highest virtues to be the pursuit of the truth and facing and accepting the facts as they are, perhaps such a thing could happen. As far as I know all we can really do is try to make sure good ideas and important information are heard and hope that defending free speech in an absolute manner makes the future better for everyone. What you do with your life is yours to decide. Life is effectively an emergent property of the universe. Looking back to find a greater meaning has only shown us where we came from, but not of any greater purpose. To look forward you're just going to have to make your own purpose. I've had to deal with this dilemma too. It's something you just have to live with. Truth is, there most likely is no point to anything in the universe, at least not in the context of how we humans try to wrap emotions into it. Our logic, ethics, our ideas, hopes, and dreams, probably all completely pointless in the strictest sense of an objective view of reality. But we exist, there's much to learn and to do, and everyone has a survival instinct that I would say is best not to try to break. (I'v…

Not surprising. A person who used to be a close friend of mine once told me that he would spend a couple hundred dollars on every date (IE thousands of dollars), and had gone on a few dozen of them all with different women over the course of a year with nothing to show for it. I wouldn't say I agree with Simone Weil on everything I see about her in the article, but she did seem to be on point about a few things. An exception to the generality, it seems. I'd hate to go into a conversation with a person studied in philosophy and make claims based on my own confirmation bias. What makes me very curious is the thought to wonder - precisely what conditions would lead to a woman possessing menta…

I grew up with TV shows like Star Trek: TNG, where Whoopi Goldberg played that 'wise/mysterious' bartender character, 'Guinan'. I quite liked that character, and it's since been rather disappointing knowing that the actress went down the feminist route. Same thing with Tom Cruise and scientology. It just doesn't seem to fit, but I guess actors/actresses are sometimes a lot different (more gullible and simple-minded) than the characters they play.

Well, I've seen a few posts here recently where people stated along the lines of 'If you're a trump supporter I assume you have low intelligence/are bluepill'. So maybe not entirely. Seems there's people on both sides of the discussion. I've come to the reluctant decision that I'll probably vote for him too as a matter of pragmatism on a few key matters, but not without numerous reservations about the rest of it.

In casual conversation among friends not too long ago one of my friends who was single and had never had a girlfriend decided to bring up the topic jokingly, but it was obvious to me in his voice that his lack of success was causing him a lot of emotional pain. Oneitis and all of that. I figured it was a good opportunity to give him a small bit of advice, try to help him pick himself up. 'If you do what makes you happy, all you really need is yourself. I've never had a girlfriend and I'm perfect…

I figured that out about him after a few weeks of watching his videos. Didn't even have to do with the interview you mentioned. Look up 'Stefan Molyneux defooing' and you'll find him saying some really strange stuff, should be a lot more obvious. I can't really stand listening to the guy anymore. Now, I don't have anything personal against the guy, but he definitely seems to me a textbook example of a fake intellectual. It's interesting seeing the slight overlap of alt-right and TRP. I guess it makes sense. See, I don't think I can fully agree on 'level 5', unless if I'm misinterpreting how you meant 'little internal conflict'. I don't know if I'm there and I'd rather not arrogantly presume so even if I might be, but a truth I've found is that the conflict is a necessity that I must live with. To stir conflict in my mind is an act in exercising it and keeping it sharp. A balance of being necessarily uncertain about everything but confident enough to take action and live with the consequences. To me…

The universe is indifferent, and does not care. Why should the results of it (sentient life that inhabits it) be much different? Some find this depressing, others find it liberating. For me it's mostly the second reason. I've always been highly individualistic for various reasons, so the single life appeals to me. I think most people bury the past after awhile. For me, some of it reminds me of when I was a weaker, less capable individual. But that only applies to the occasions when I made a mistake I regretted. But really, if you're stronger now, why should you even need to bury the past? If you can master your emotions, then accepting the facts of all that's happened to you shouldn't have any bearing on the present. All that matters is who you are now, what you do with that. Got depressed a couple of times and strongly desired physical affection. Surprisingly, I guess the only change needed to overcome that was a change in mindset. Took some time but honestly I don't get those feelings anymore. Whether that becomes the case for you or not, I couldn't say, it probably depends on whether or not you can master your emotions to s…

I had good parents who cared about me and did their best to raise me as well as they could, but something I always felt odd about at a young age was constantly getting words of encouragement. Well, its not that simple, though. There are serious dangers to attempting something drastic like that. Thus I propose a mix of both approaches (selection and engineering) at a very slow timescale. I'll be the first to admit I do get a bit too hopeful about humanity's technological capabilities and scientific potential. One or more parties involved may use the situation to their financial or emotional advantage. I figure that sort of abuse could go both ways for either gender, though I'm not going to make any assumptions about which would be more likely to overtly exploit the situation for their own benefit. That depends of the character of the individuals involved and the exact structure of the unit (ratio of men to women). In humans? Not a great idea due to our social structures and basic psychology. As a concept it's interesting, though. Doesn't much matter how the species perpetuates itself when at the cellular level gestation is identical regardless of monogamy or polygamy. Oh, I wasn't. I just found myself questioning how Hitchens seemed to view the liberation of women as entirely good, with no mention of the potential consequences, which we now seem to be observing as men react to society strongly enabling female nature by doing things like going their own way.

I never thought I'd be questioning liberty on this matter in regards to the the best course of action vs right course of action, but I suppose now I am. I would intuitively be inclined to agree on ethical grounds myself, though it comes to my mind at least with voting that one must determine if emotional reasoning is more strongly pronounced towards the selection of leaders and the passing of laws when women have the right to vote. I guess men aren't an exception, but it would be nice if we coul…

Too Long, Didn't View version: About halfway through the video, Hitchens uses an argument about the liberation of women as support his position against religion. Thought this might spur some interesting discussion, since I've always held Hitchens in high regard but was surprised to find myself disagreeing with him for once. Ethically I would have been naturally inclined to agree with the man on this point before coming upon the ideas provided on TRP and its related subs, but now, perhaps not.

I was genuinely wondering why something I thought most here would agree with in a thread about TBP got downvoted after awhile. Was I inarticulate? Was my opinion not well-thought out? Guess I'll never know. Happens to everybody it seems. I've always found it a bit irritating to be downvoted on reddit, but not for an reasons of lost validation/hurt ego (after all what would I be doing in a MGTOW sub if those were personal issues for me anymore, I'm only here because the discussions interest me), …

I visited it to see if they could find any flaws in the reasoning of people posting here and in TheRedPill just for the sake of considering perspectives I myself might not be inclined towards taking into consideration otherwise. I got what I expected, disappointment. TBP sub basically amounts to trying to be some kind of hipster anti-anti-feminism peanut galley as far as I can tell, and that was after giving them the benefit of the doubt - me trying to have intellectual integrity by honestly con…

It's surprising, I never could understand before why a large number of people I've run across in life sincerely wanted to 'watch the world burn' until recently, and now that I get just how screwed everything is I'm not sure what to make of it all. I used to be an optimist, then I shifted more and more towards being a realist/pragmatist. And the result? I have what are effectively misanthropic thoughts all the time now, but not because that's how I want to see the world. I keep up on current even…

Maybe I just don't take it seriously because it's just a movie? This isn't something that needs to be read that far into. The only criticism I would fairly levy at TFA was that it was rather derivative of A New Hope, Kylo Ren was a stupid character, and Rey seemed like a bit of a Mary Sue. I still enjoyed it anyway. As for anything else... I don't care what gender or race they are, I'm concerned solely with a character's personality and place in the story. It's a work of fiction, not real life. …

So you didn't enjoy it, that's fine. I couldn't really say I know if the casting of these movies is some kind of propaganda move or not, I'm not inclined to think so, but I don't really give a flying fuck. They're actors playing roles in something that's more than anything else meant to be entertaining and until the lead actress herself starts preaching feminism itself right in the middle of the movie I don't have any issue with it.

I told a close friend of mine I was 'going my own way' once when we drifted onto the topic of relationships and dating awhile back. I explained that I've never had much if any desire for romantic relationships, how in my experience being 'in love' compromised my ability to reason so much that I found it antithetical to who I am, how I've observed throughout my life many men manipulated to disaster, how I've never wanted children, how I've rarely ever met a woman who was logic-oriented like me, a…

As with most movies, you will probably enjoy it anyway if you apply a suspension of disbelief.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
