I'm sorry, what? What quotas? Affirmative action maybe, but I believe that only applies to race.

On the whole, yes. I wouldn't want to discount the fact that both groups face discrimination, though. By all means point out these specific societal issues and expectations about how men are supposed to be that leads to these problems (higher suicide rates, for example), but please don't forget that the 'other side' isn't walking on easy street, either. As a gay woman I've faced discrimination before, and there are certain places I just don't talk about it.

Intersectionality is a thing. Being a man didn't help him in that (outrageous) case, and being black certainly didn't either. I actually didn't know that about gay suicide rates; thanks for pointing it out. It would help if things were framed that way, rather than just saying that men as a group have it worse than various minorities as a group. That's where I get angry.

Sex is actually chromosomal, and more! Androgen insensitive women, for example. It's also a moving goalpost that is used to dehumanise trans people, but this is /r/MensRights and not /r/transgender. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for not being an ignorant asshole like that guy!

I try to take mens rights seriously. You guys have plenty of legitimate claims. But when I see shit like this that pokes fun at other groups that have it much worse off (several of which I'm a part of), it makes it really hard. You think you have it harder than gay people? Black people? Trans people? You think men are hated more than them? You think privillege doesn't exist? It's pretty aggravating to be invalidated like that, especially by a group that I'd like to support!

It actually gets turned inside out. The dick.

This accurately describes the type of man that I want.

As a (trans) woman who had to sign up just to be able to drive and go to college, I think the draft is stupid and should just go away altogether. I sympathise with you guys. :/

I do identify as part of the gender binary, though? :/ And yeah, my school was absolutely amazing. I wish my guidance counsellor would write a book about how to deal with situations like that. Uhm, I'm just going to throw out there that I didn't 'always know' that I was a girl or anything. It was just that everyone told me that I was a boy, and it wasn't until puberty combined with awareness of other ways to be (y'know, wow, trans people exist!) that I realised that's who I am. I know the media …

Hey, MtF trans person here. I'd just like to point out that I never identified as a 'man' in the first place (I transitioned before I was old enough to be a 'man' or a 'woman' if that counts for anything). I did 'want' to be a girl, but then what girl doesn't want to be a girl? That's cis privilege at work; my motives are questioned for 'wanting' to be a gender not matching my body, but it isn't for cis people. Even though gender isn't something one changes at will. In any case, I just wanted to…

Merci, monsieur. Tumblr's interface has never been particularly appealing to me.

Can't tell if good or bad reaction because tumblr. Do the reposts mean that others are just sharing it, or can they add their own comments, or what?

If this was on 4chan, why is it censored?

I'd hope that someday everyone would realise they want the same thing (or at least claim to want the same thing), and they'd quit dividing themselves into groups to fight against each other because beating the other team means they're making progress. Not likely, sadly. But I can dream.

You'd think so, but we can't have people feeling uncomfortable now, can we?

Hey look, another area where trans people and MRAs (and feminists, too) are working towards the same thing (except they won't admit it when talking to each other)! ~Yay! The first day I ever wore a skirt to school (over jeans, might I add), I was taken to the principals office, asked if it had any religious or deeply personal significance, asked to remove it because it was disturbing the learning process, and also had both of my parents called. I had put it on during lunch break (I ate lunch in …

If you look at what those degrees offer in terms of learning instead of money (I know - god forbid I suggest one goes to college solely to learn), they aren't worthless. I'd love to minor in gender studies, but I'm too busy with my major at the moment.

It used to be that they were confused women wanting the power that men had. I think it's still basically the same thing - misguided women (trans men) and double-agent men spying on women for the Patriarchy (trans women).

But, who are you to say someone cannot be who they are? It's funnier (and true) that way, too.

I think you might be surprised at some of the intersections between trans rights and men's rights. For example, the courts generally favour the partner of a trans woman getting a divorce, especially when it comes to children. On some level that is a men's rights issue (sadly) because the trans woman is being viewed as a man who isn't 'man enough'. As for the radfems (who are pretty crazy and kind of a minority within the greater feminist movement), they really hate trans people; they refuse to a…

My mum had this problem a lot, since my parents got equal custody of my sister and I, but my dad kept the house and that was listed as our address and phone number. It really sucks for either parent to get left behind like that. Good job OP.

Gay people are allowed to serve. Openly trans people, on the whole, are not.

Mine came with my real name. I wonder how many other Alices are signed up with selective services.... But yeah, if something like that happened, there'd be no way I couldn't mess with them.

I'm a trans woman and I had to do this, too. (To get a licence and go to college and all that stuff.) Although, if I actually was called in to serve, I'd be dismissed due to mental incapacity or basically being 'too gay'. Funfunfun.

I believe when the question was phrased with "forced to enjoy it" rather than "rape", the positive responses shot up quite a bit.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
