Personally, I don't really care for social media or actively use it. I'll absolutely post pictures once in a while from a recent trip or comment on a friend's photo, but I certainly don't live on it. I've deleted my accounts before but came back to stay in touch. Admittedly I did feel somewhat out of the loop, but more importantly these days even important invitations may only be sent out through social media as home addresses are changing more often now than they used to, due to renting vs buyi…

Thank you! Yes it feels amazing especially considering my two relationships in the last 5-6 years were with emotionally unstable, fragile men. So this is a real treat for me haha. Funny enough, we reconnected through online dating. I had never online dated before and have always been hesitant to do it, but as a fairly introverted and busy person I have a tough time meeting people otherwise, so I finally caved and did it. He was literally the FIRST guy that came up on it for me, and I reached out…

Hi StepfordGal, love your website and always love seeing your posts! I'll give this a go... I'm dating someone new who I feel like has a ton of potential to be a life partner. Does the Tarot say that this is looking like a good prospect or just another relationship journey, and/or when will I know the answer? That's the best I can do :P

I agree, especially with the "set of rules" concept. I used to have this "why bother?" approach with so many things and people picked up on it. Now that I make an effort to be happier, more gracious, etc. people have definitely noticed and it makes them feel good too.

Absolutely! Especially one that has consumed nearly a third of my life.

Yes I totally understand how that could be a pet peeve! To be honest, even just this thread alone and the video recommended to me by the-capitan in the comments below has pretty much helped me realize what I want, which I realize was my problem in the first place. I want a family. Any job will pay my bills in the meantime. I don't need to continue to EXCEL in my career because that's societal conditioning; the feeling of never getting "far enough ahead" at work. But the best thing I can do now i…

Thank you very much! You guys have been SO HELPFUL by the way. Mind is appropriately blown.

That's a big reason why I left the hospital - it was hard on my body/mind. And I honestly think a lot of nurses "self-medicate" with food/alcohol; especially those working in higher stress areas like ICU. When I worked night shift, I gained 30lbs (which is gone now thank god) and EVERYONE I worked with was obese and miserable. It's a different environment to be sure. Now I actually have time to take care of myself; just got back from the gym as we speak! :)

I've been in self-care mode for awhile. As much as I'd love to date right now, I'm taking a LITTLE more time to make sure everything is a little more balanced out. But you (and everyone else here) are right - at this point going back to school is not the answer. I'm just going to keep taking it one day at a time, and I should find some hobbies...sometimes it's hard to find when I'm working full-time, but I suppose there's millions of people in this country who do it :) thank you for your input!

Thank you! I actually have the Practicing Mind but haven't had a chance to get into it deeply - I'll be sure to start that. I haven't read Dan Harris's book and will look into it. I really appreciate the reply and recommendations.

I understand and I apologize if it came off that way. What I meant was that long-term, if I had a choice in the matter, that's the "pipe dream" for me. Not that I am convinced that's RPW philosophy; I apologize if I wasn't clear on that. I also understand you guys can't solve all my life problems, but frankly I appreciate all of your wisdom and thus thought I would just throw it out there to get any thoughts or recommendations. I'm doing everything I can to figure things out. Thanks for the repl…

I appreciate your response. I understand they pay you for work because it's work. My problem is not that my job is too hard, but I've been questioning if I should pursue MORE in terms of challenging myself while I'm young to get the most out of my career. Ironically, sometimes I fantasize about farming or living on a ranch in the boondocks instead of working full time. Sounds busy but dreamy to me :D And no haven't moved yet, but that's looking like my next step, on top of ensuring I make the mo…

Thank you! This is what I've been doing. I am a big fan of the personal finance subreddit and have since been going ovaries to the wall paying off debt ;) I really like the idea of doing whatever I want once the debt is gone...that's a lot more motivation for me and shows there's an end in site. I'd honestly be happy just doing this (or any job!) part time so I'll work toward that.

I'd like to emphasize that someone erroneously referred to me as an alpha widow, and once I clarified my situation for him he understood and retracted the comment. I fully understand what it means (trust me I researched it) and it's not the position I'm in. But I appreciate the response. And thank you for the video!
