So here's me: Phase 0: Start working at a family business when I'm 12, manage a high school diploma and a year of college. Phase 1: Join the Army at 19, get married at 21, have my first kid at 22 and my second kid at 23. Achieve birth control with my partner to permanently not have more than the two kids we have. Finish up my contract with the Army after 11 years at the ripe old age of 30. Phase 2: Buy a house, get divorced, continue my career in the private sector, make six figures, and sell th…

Millions in a population of millions is a different ballgame than tens of thousands in a population of millions. My problem was that I was taking you at your exact word when you meant something else.

Allow me to contextualize myself then. Tens of thousands of people agreeing with something you believe in on social media platforms whose algorithms are geared and benefit from showing you things that you're most likely to agree with is not only a niche, but a technologically-reinforced niche that exists for the purpose of creating a positive feedback loop for itself.

Tens of thousands is still a niche in a population of millions.

Yeah, Disney is working on repenting for their contributions to that fantasy. Last decade has been a lot of self-therapy disguised as kids movies. I'm more of a princess who saved herself sort of story.

I already get companionship and relationships with others around me. I can find sex if I want it. Why would I want to bring a child into this world? Why would I want to do that with a man who has no responsibility to any child I would have with him?

An audience for what? This is a discussion thread. I've stated my part. I also see that you decided to edit your previous response. Why wouldn't they just have major surgery that is usually denied by a significant number of doctors if you're under a certain age if not outright refused? Probably the cost and the recovery. Probably convincing that I'd have to do to be able to get that surgery. No it's easier to just not sleep with people who are going to get me pregnant.

I don't think I made that decision for other women. It kind of sounds like I made that decision for myself, yeah? Shocker, a woman making decisions for herself, I know. I know I'm not the only woman making that decision but their decisions are none of my business. Not my body, not my choice.

You'd think with all of the irresponsible women you say are out there, the whole RP argument would be subverted by them? I am using birth control, just one they can't take away, by only sleeping with individuals who have a verifiable zero sperm count.

It will make a difference to me and it will make a difference to the dating pool around me. It will also make a difference if I'm not the only woman who sees this line of reasoning and I can promise you I'm not.

I don't have sex for money either. I'm a self established lady, but I don't have the time to deal with a pregnancy and the lack of maternal leave would make me less self established. But hey, men with a verified Zero Count can still apply.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/22 05:33 PM

I can't speak for other women, but this ruling just significantly increased the cost of having sex with anyone who doesn't have a sperm count of zero. Time to start swiping left on anyone who fits that criteria.

If a man calls you a horse, you slap him upside the head. If a second man calls you a horse, you slap him upside the head. If a third man walks up to you and calls you a horse, you might want to start to consider buying a saddle. Just because the advice is generic and you've read it multiple times doesn't mean it's wrong. It's generic and gets said multiple times because, surprise surprise, people aren't following it.

Take a shower because anyone over the age of ten smells when they don't. Shave so you look like you care about yourself or trim your beard for the same reason. The traditional family has failed us. Making a better world for your children stopped being a primary value in society a few generations ago and the family became a place of toxicity, of hiding abuses and protecting abusers, of forcing ignorance and stifling growth. The land, sea, and sky are poisoned and neither the individualistic societies of the west nor the collectivist societies of the east care enough to fix it. All for the sake of power. Why should we want to bring children into this wor…

If you don't know the difference by the time you can make a decision between the two, then do everyone a favor and pay because you're not going to value a woman, her time, her effort, or respect her emotions and reality if you're spending the time thinking about how you could just pay for sex and not have to deal with the rest. Not that the rest isn't still there, but it's not expected to be on the table when someone is willingly selling access to their body as part of the social contract.

Science changes constantly as we reevaluate data and come to more nuanced understanding. Dating trends change over time as well so timeliness of the data is relevant. At the least, the data used to publish that report is stale. As a woman, my results are indeed "very few women are going to be interested in you" but this isn't exactly unexpected. I'm not in an area with a high concentration of the LGBTQIA community.

My family and distant blood relations were toxic, narcissist, and abusive. No support came from there. Considering my career makes low six figures, I'd love to have stayed at home but my partner's skillset didn't come close to that earning potential to be able to replace mine. Anyways, that relationship is over and dead so there is no value in constructing What Ifs unless you think we can sell it to Disney for a pretty profit.

No we moved with each other, just so often we didn't make connections outside our relationship. The whole you and me against the world situation. Funny thing is, we were a single household income. My income. My career provided for us. My partner stayed home and homeschooled our kids.

My upbringing and environment is responsible for pushing me so far from it that I'm unrecognizable as I was when I was younger? Nah. I entirely reject your perspective on psychology and don't find a common ground we can continue to discuss on.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the blood being the most important thing. I don't share a lot of traits and features with my blood relatives. We exist on opposite sides of the political spectrum, we have a different religion, we have a different view on relationships, we have different life values, and we barely talk to each other. I live hundreds of miles away from them. Interdependence and codependence are at two different levels. Interdependence can be healthy. Codependence is acknowledged…

The internet, in its many facets, is a parallel of human nature. Sex is important to humanity so it shows up frequently on the internet. Social media is probably the most human example of communication at scale. Social media isn't terrible or overly focused on anything that the humans behind it aren't also focused on.

I settled down when I was 19, was married by 21 and married for 10 years, then I got divorced. Neither me or my former partner is interested in ever getting married again. My partner is in a somewhat committed monoamorous relationship and I'm happy for them. I'm in a polyamorous relationship with my boyfriend and my girlfriend. When I got divorced, we both went through our promiscuous phase. Not arguing the OP's statement, but pointing out that not everyone follows it.

Came here to say this. I think Puritan or Religious (since it extends beyond Christianity) would fit best. Overall I think this is a dramatic oversimplification. It's very narrow in its time and culture scopes. Various cultures throughout history have had different courting and mating rituals, some more sophisticated than others, some more violent than others, and some both sophisticated and violent. What is the point here, if any, of attempting to categorize the approaches?

I know this doesn't feed the narrative you've got going on your head, but no, I'm not being contrary. I'm generally content with the fitness levels of both myself and my boyfriend. I reiterate that if he suddenly showed up with a highly fit body I'd be very concerned about his mental health. Fitness as an obsession is still an obsession. I'm not passionate about fitness so fitness as a passion isn't compatible with my lifestyle. It's not something I value beyond a certain minimum self-standard. …

I would assume you'd need a bit more than 1/hr a day 3 days a week to get what I'm thinking of when I think "shredded" but I'll admit that may be where we are having a bit of miscommunication. When I see shredded I think bodybuilding not merely staying fit. I am a woman and I do forgo the working out part myself aside from a mile and a half walk each day, running after kids, and occasionally having to do my own yardwork when my work schedule allows.

Pretty sure God granted Solomon wisdom and he had thousands of wives. I believe his error was to allow them to twist his belief and fidelity to God to the worship of lesser gods. He also allowed them to drag him into the politics of whose son would inherit the throne, but it's been a hot minute since I was a pastor's disciple. There was Abraham who had Sarah and her maid. I did save myself for marriage and I wasn't happier. Happiness doesn't come from other people and the pursuit of happiness is empty. Happiness is found in hindsight. Happiness I find for myself. People bring me joy, but that is merely a fleeting emotion and wonderful and irrational as any other emotion. My partners bring me joy on a consistent basis. Given neuroplasticity, I'd say that young men are probably the only ones who can do something about their personalities before it sets in for good. By young I mean under 25 ish. Yes, absolutely. Why would I put the fulfillment of all of the needs that I cannot fulfill for myself on one person? How cruel would that be to that person? How cruel would that be to myself to then devote my every day to being everything that the other person needs? No, the self-sufficient family unit of husband, wife, and children is a lie. It was always meant to be a village and I don't see any issue with being intimate with the people I care about who are around me.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/22 06:29 AM

No, if my boyfriend got shredded, I'd probably leave him. Not because of the attention he'd be getting but because that wouldn't be the person I would want to be with. If his vanity and insecurities were that big, I'd tell him to see a therapist. As far as financially, I'm self-sufficient in that aspect. He doesn't need to out gross me, he just needs to not weigh me down financially (which he doesn't). He doesn't need to be strong enough to pick me up. That's what the rope is for.

You sound like a Southern Baptist youth pastor and there is no point in debating someone's religion on the internet. No one peer pressured me into having sex or not having sex. I didn't have peers around me when I started having sex and the people who were around me didn't know a damn thing because it's none of their business. I chose to have sex with multiple partners. I cringed at both. I wouldn't even want tame versions of those two. Both exhibit a single minded approach to things that I just...no. Hard pass. Free storage and the ability to delete the ten pictures off my phone that it took to get one that I liked well enough. Why does anyone post pictures of themselves anywhere? We all like to be told we look good and that our perception of reality is not entirely flawed. A check and balance with our own egos. If I have a shit picture, I expect people to tell me. We had become woefully co-dependent on each other after several years of moving to different places and not being able to build support networks outside of each other. Once we got divorced, we both became the person the other wanted for each other all along. My partner became more emotionally independent, less stressed, and more focused on their passion and I was free to be myself outside of the contract we had made with each other at an undiscerning young age.

There were some fights but we weren't constantly contentious. We syncd up every night in the shower so things didn't tend to get too bad unless someone was dealing with a trauma response. As a woman who was in a 10-year marriage, sex drive incompatibility was never the issue and there was no slow down over a 13-year relationship.
