Practically speaking, that threshold is low for women. I'm assuming you've seen the "likes distribution" graphs, right? It's like 80%+ of women meet it for most men.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/25 06:39 AM
1

That's not important. With most guys I know, as long as a woman meets a "threshold" which I'd say like 70-80% of women meet, it's all the other stuff (a personality match, shared hobbies and interests, etc) that matters--this is the case at least with the guys I know.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/25 07:42 AM

You don't see guys obsessing over their personality or talent. This is insanely wrong. Almost every guy I know (including myself) cares more about personality (and the interests/hobbies) of women than looks. Maybe you only know shallow guys.

FYI, a decent VR headset can be had for $250, and games can easily be pirated. People even in mid/lower-income countries can afford it. PC gaming is even cheaper when old/used computers being dumped/shipped to poorer countries (and piracy is a lot easier with PC games). An old used GPU from 8 years ago (like a GTX 970) can play nearly every single modern game well.

Exactly, the people of SK get credit, not megacorps. They put a lot of effort into educating themselves, and building and engineering great things. In addition, a merit-based free-market economy (which is not an endorsement of megacorps) was also crucial. NK’s communism is squarely to blame for its abject failure, but that doesn’t mean oligopolies and megacorps are good either. A free-market economic system with strong anti-trust (i.e., competition) laws is ideal.

You’re completely off. There’s a massive massive Asian undocumented immigrant population in Flushing, New York (mostly Chinese). Most of these first-generation undocumented Asian immigrants / the parents don’t speak English, are extremely poor, and yet their children end up becoming upper middle class at an overwhelming rate. I personally knew some of these kids at Stony Brook University. I’m sure u/Sigma1979 can back me up here. Your point about visas is correct for Indian folks, whose rate of …

Such a response would be so antisocial and unjust that it could only possibly come from the social justice movement. What is he saying here? The response he’s referring to would only come from conservatives / right-wing people. The social justice movement / socialists afaik would respond in an opposite manner (and talk about redistributing wealth). Nvm, I didn’t read far enough — I understand the point he’s making now.

It’s honestly. I have friend who married out of love, and my friend has recently effectively been unemployed (out of choice), and his wife supports the family. So your attempt to paint the whole world / all women with a broad brush is patently and totally wrong.

2 Cor. 5:9-10 says that even the believer will be judged by what we've done I have a question, but it's a bit off-topic to this thread. How does this 2 Cor. 5:9-10 work in relation to assured salvation through Christ? If we are saved by faith and destined for heaven, how/when/where does Christ punish us (believers) for the bad deeds we did while on earth?

You probably hurt him a lot more than you imagine. One of my friends was in the exact situation as the guy who was your BFF, and I first-hand witnessed the level of mental pain he went through — and I actually counseled him several times to end the friendship with this woman (but he didn’t listen & continued being friends with her & continued getting his heart broken).

I’ve been at over 6 figures since I was 25 years old (except when unemployed of course), and I would say that one’s purchasing power is obviously a lot higher (but not as much as people think, due to taxes). What you buy or don’t buy is a choice — in 2017, I bought a Prius Prime Advanced/Limited. This year, I bought a Tesla Model Y.

The Prius Prime is a lot better in every way. If you’re in the US, you get a $4,502 federal tax credit for buying it (plus incentives in many states). It accelerates from zero a lot quicker than the regular Prius, due to the more powerful electric motors in it (even though the official HP rating is the same on both).

I do have a question for you: what happens to the vast majority of average men — how come they pair up? Also, what happens to the vast majority of women in general? There’s a limit to how many women the small number of Chad men can service simultaneously. And after some time even Chad gets tired of the virtual polygamy / unlimited rotation of free plates (well Leonardo DiCaprio might be an exception — but even he sticks to one under-25 at a time, and so is a serial monogamist). You might want to try enumerating exactly what culture is, very specifically and thoroughly. That word is used to mean a hundred different things. It's one of the most poorly defined words; or at least a word with worst broad consensus among people on the definition. The idea of culture is very amorphous, and whatever people make it up to be. And once you've enumerated exactly what culture is, you then might want to try to explain what exactly you wish to protect or retain in some specific 'cult…

The Bible is neither egalitarian nor complementarian So I agree with what you're saying in the general sense of that term. Christian girls on reddit Isn’t Reddit pretty male-dominated? How many Christian girls really are there, who’re lurking on Reddit (and who’d be open to meeting a guy on it)? I’d love to read your post on it, regardless.

In this day and age, there isn’t even an expectation to “stick around”. In fact, if you do “stick around”, you’ll likely be cursed out. The LJBF is just a polite way of them saying goodbye forever.

That’s because you (a guy) were the one that said it. If the woman says it, it’s essentially a polite GTFO.

I have a scriptural question—something I’ve always wondered about Malachi 2:16. How does “divorce” result in covering one’s garment “in violence”? I never understood this part—there’s a causative link going from divorce -> violence apparently?

This is the real reason. Why toil away at some depressing office 9 to 5 when you come home to an empty house and have nothing to live for? ... I dropped out of the professional workforce 2 years after college even though i was earning good money for this exact reason. Most work is mundane and irrelevant providing close to zero satisfaction and valuable recognition. I can relate to this deeply. As time passes on, I’m realizing that finding meaningful is deeply critical to life satisfaction and ha…

This is a good point-by-point summary of the root issues. But, what are some solutions? The only viable and practical solutions I can think of would be putting into effect two major laws: first, a law prohibiting sex outside marriage, and a second law making divorce more difficult. In addition, some minor laws (like banning pornography, banning abortion, limiting access to contraceptives to married people) would be helpful as well. But the two major laws I think would go 80% of the way towards s…

I’m not a Calvinist or Presbyterian, but I went to Tim Keller’s church (Redeemer) and affiliated churches for a long time, so I have some thoughts. (I’d say I’m pretty non-denominational at the moment, maybe leaning slightly pentecostal, but that’s it.) I feel like TULIP is a bit of dangerous theology, if someone internalizes it completely. I think the T and L are on point, and 100% correct. But: Some people that believe in the P concept could use it as a license to sin. Or at least, not be as o…

feel like there isn't any girls that are worth committing too There definitely are, but to be honest, outside of Christian circles, they’re quite difficult to find. Even within Christian/church circles, you’d be surprised by the number of shallow women. Speaking as a Christian, I would say a far healthier and sane alternative to the main TRP subreddit would be r/RPChristians — you’ll find that the folks there are serious about, are seeking, or are committed to the sort of life-long, loving, deep…

How is there such a disparity? It is almost as though there is massive oversupply of men. Based on dating situation data, an alien 👾 from space would assume that were 4x to 5x as many men as women. (Especially considering 80% of men get left-swiped by women.) Wtf is going on. The actual gender ratio is 51% women to 49% men, not 80% men to 20% women. 🤷‍♂️

Lol are you kidding? Writing and drawing are snoozefests? I know a lot of women who are into that stuff. You’d be super attractive to them. There are many many who love this stuff. You know what would be a very obscure and outlying hobby? A computer scientist whose passion is designing operating system. A person who takes passion in solving hard math problems. To be clear: Writing and drawing are emphatically highly accessible hobbies — they’re stuff that a non-expert can look at, and enjoy / ap…

I don’t have a direct answer, but I just wanted to say that’s a great list of books that you’ve been reading. In general, while reading, it might be helpful to make notes, or journal to help retain and better integrate (into your mind) the stuff you learn.

Just curious: how did you come to learn so much about your wife’s past? The stuff you mentioned sounds crazy, and quite out there. Typically, Christian women will rarely reveal any specific details about their past (if it all anything), and definitely not sordid specifics like the swallowing, or giving head to 10 guys in a single year. How true is this stuff? Did she tell this to you herself? Or were they things you heard from her friends, and others? (If she didn’t tell your herself, then how w…

Ah, okay, makes sense. It’s the same with Christ and the body (Christians). The Holy Spirit can speak to you, and counsel way in the ways in which you need to change, but many believers don’t end up following through (ie obeying the Holy Spirit’s direction). I mean I’m guilty of that myself. But, yea, true love doesn’t mean you just do whatever makes the other person “happy”. To truly love someone means you act in a manner that would be best for them (both on earth and in eternity).

Excellent analysis. And, yes, that article is truly a pile of crap. That article reeks of a blue-pilled man who submits to and borderline worships his wife (ugh, so gross and debasing). Covert contract. What do you mean here? I’m guessing you mean that it is wrong to treat marriage as a transactional relationship where you trade “treating the other person well” in exchange for a “happy marriage” (whatever the construction of that is)? In developing countries, women work as hard as men do, and often side-by-side with men. For example, I personally know that among poor farmers in India, the women always work the fields side-by-side with men. I’ve never heard of or seen a poorer / farming family where girls are given a free pass to lay back and do nothing, while men do all the work. These families are literally too poor to be able to afford women not working. In fact, it’s always seemed like women actually work more than men. Wo…

This is bullshit reasoning. Your hypothesis (the 80/20 rule) only holds (that too partially) true for certain dating apps that are centered around hooking up, and are dominated by shallow low-quality women. Try LTR focused dating apps & websites, and also get better photos taken of you by a professional photographer (plus get a stylist if you don’t what to wear + a hair stylist for your hair). Then you’ll probably get a lot more interest.

Looks are a filter. After you pass that filter, then personality and other traits become important/ come into play. And, if you don’t look good, you don’t make it across the initial filter. Which is unfortunate, but that’s how things are. Maybe in the far future, humans will just be brains plugged into a matrix-like virtual reality, and so your looks aren’t fixed — and you’d be free to look however you’d like — and in that world what’ll be important would indeed be your personality first and for…

Quality is relevant here. Men too have unlimited access to low-quality women. Finding a high-quality woman you can build a deep connection with is a different story. Yea, for a woman who isn’t looking for a LTR, who doesn’t care about the depth of the emotional connection, quality becomes nearly irrelevant, and so they effectively have access to virtually unlimited amounts of men. But that’s not the sort of woman any one serious should be seeing. Also, ghosting shows both a lack of emotional mat…

Forget handing on to a "word" -- why would you (or anyone for that matter) destroy something completely, and rebuild it identically? That's pointless. Obviously, the new creation will be completely new in a literal sense. Also, see Luke 20:27–38 about being like angels, or Paul writing about being raised imperishable (1 Cor 15:40-44). I'm not sure what point you're getting at here.... That the new creation will be as broken/terrible as the current one?...

They live on earth forever? Can you elaborate? That’s definitely a bit strange, and not in agreement with the Bible. In the Bible, the old Earth is destroyed (c.f. Revelation chapter 21) — and a new universe is created of sorts. This new universe is where the chosen / saved people live. Everyone else goes to hell / “the outer darkness”. So the current Earth is destined for destruction. So where do these people actually live? Or do jehova’s witnesses reject (or differently interpret) Revelation 2…
