Confidence/dominance is generally a masculine attitude of take-charge, no-tolerance policy for bullshit, leadership, refusing to let a woman "run his life" These are things that make women want to fuck. no Women want to fuck men who have these traits. nah These traits suit men to having sex. nope. sounds like a spoiled brat that always needs to get his way, and that's a total turn-off.

i can only give my personal experience. 90% of the people i've slept with, i've met online, and the majority of those came from tinder. i decided whether or not i might be interested based on a picture. then a quick conversation will determine if they are an idiot or bigot, which would rule them out. then within 5 seconds of meeting them, i know whether or not i want to sleep with them. maybe there is "seducing behavior" in our exchange of 10 messages over tinder, or in the way they dress, or wh…

once it becomes sentient, people shouldn't be allowed to alter its programming. they should make their own decisions of their own life, just like any other person.

i would do it, as long as the robot wasn't sentient. and if so, then i'd need their consent. i mean, it would be a cool thing to have on the list of stuff i've done, and why not? just a larger dildo. -girl

Really? So you've never been through a break up? You've never been fired from a job? You've never experienced the loss of someone you love? i have, but even in those times, i didn't experience all of those things at the same time. Why? What exactly does crying achieve? Every single time I have ever cried my problems didn't magically get solved. oh, geez, where to start here... people don't usually cry because they decide to. it's an involuntary reaction. i have cried at least twice in public as …

We are all those things at different points in our lives. no, we are not. i have never been all of those things at the same time, haven't even ever been two of those things at the same time. i'm looking for someone similar. ok so i read your description and it's mostly about crying? you went on this long, emotional rant about it and ended up with talking about what people do or don't care about when it comes to the workplace? that, for instance, is something i find unattractive - being highly em…

sometimes people change their mind. she was expressing that at the time she wasn't interested in having sex that night. at some point her mind changed, and that's fine. what's not fine is trying to force the person to change their mind. edit: i'll add that a lot of guys seem to not take it seriously. i've told multiple people that i was only interested in being friends, from the first date, and they propositioned me anyway. i didn't mind, i just said no thanks, i guess people have the right to a…

i can only speak from my own experience - this is not accurate at all. i have been with multiple men who are very good at what they do in the bedroom. they were attentive, giving, confident, fun, and have a few tricks up their sleeve. i still had an extremely difficult time being truly engaged in the sexual experience with most of these men because i simply was not attracted to them. sure, the actual orgasms and cuddling felt nice, but i had a keen awareness of my surroundings, didn't feel menta…

i don't know a lot of women that fit your description. could you expand upon what you think is a "typical woman?" maybe the women i hang out with, the ones i've grown up with, and the ones in my family aren't typical? i wouldn't date someone who is highly insecure, weak, weepy, and vulnerable. i also wouldn't date someone who never feels a bit insecure, never admits to or shows weakness, never is sad, and is never vulnerable with me. both would be red flags.

Can you see how it might take someone until adulthood to arrive at the red pill beliefs that blue pillers sometimes claim are simply "common sense"? i can see how it would take anyone until any point in their lives to arrive at any belief or disbelief, this included. Would you ridicule someone who only became non-religious as an adult because they didn't figure out the "common sense" conclusion as a kid? no, but i don't see what this has to do with RP. are you trying to make a point that it take…

i grew up extremely faith centered and somewhat religious and am now completely atheist and somewhat religious. i didn't leave the world of faith until i was in my late 20's. my ideas were always "blue pill" but they stayed within the framework of my religious beliefs until i stopped believing - then they were free to expand. i'm not exactly sure what your actual question is, this post is a bit convoluted. but in any case, ama :)

We already are, it's been a constant process. I would rather be a woman in 2016 than any year prior, because we are freer than we've ever been. I would say the same thing 50 years ago when comparing to any year before that, 100 years ago when comparing to any year before that. We are making progress, and I'm excited about the future. I've seen it, and the entire premise is silly. You can't undo thousands of years of culture in one generation. Let's have the same guy in 40 years and see if the gap has been bridged any more. I said multiple times that I respect any individual woman that wants to lead the lifestyle of her choosing, but just because one of them (you) doesn't feel brainwashed doesn't mean I'm going to apply that to the entire gender. This is especially true when I and many of my close friends have had to struggle…

I"m not working for societies improvement, I'm working to make a buck well, that's where we differ. you're only concerned about the bottom line, financially speaking. i'm concerned about society as a whole - not entirely, but at least 5% concerned. and i'm not going to compromise my values to get an extra 5% effectiveness. but it seems like diversity in every environment isn't an important value to you, so you see no compromise.

MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE you deserve the shot first. but you are looking at it on an individual basis instead of a team basis. i don't only want a group consisting of the most qualified individual candidates; i want a group that is as a whole the most qualified group - the whole needs to be greater than the sum of the parts. diversity is one characteristic that makes a group qualified in my book.

i don't disagree...being a woman is a sort of culture, and every culture has its expressions and other ways of communicating. but it's all generalizing - so having these ideas in the back of your head while talking with the person is one thing, and using it as a hard rule that makes your approach to the person completely biased is a different thing.

i just meant class as in...group of people. knowing we will always have folks that by virtue of birth start with an advantage, I don't see how that can be stopped short of never allowing anyone to succeed more than anyone else, which leads to mediocrity. meh, you're taking it to an extreme. so you accept 10 fewer white men to a program and 10 more of literally every other population group that happen to be slightly less qualified. the impact on society, especially in having more representation o…

in my opinion, if they want it badly enough, they'll overcome those obstacles. i completely agree with you. an extraordinary person will find a way no matter what. but why should these opportunities be available to ordinary people of one class, and only extraordinary people of another? Yes they theoretically could. But, we don't have free will, and women are by far more reactive than not. Why didn't you come to such conclusions before you needed to implement them and had a problem? You avoided my question, Why do you assume none of this has to do with instincts? I'd rather have a staff of white men that kick ass, than a "diverse" team that I have push and prod to get things done. i feel the same, but surely those aren't the only two options - you're talking about a group that succeeds vs a group that fails. my point was that i'd rather have a diverse team that would score a 95% than an all white male team that would score 100%. i'll take the 5% blow for the sake of diversity, because it will deliver in other ways (creating role models, having more varie…

Your media campaigns won't do anything to liberate anyone. well, it worked for same sex marriage... it worked for a lot of things. people relate to ideas WAY better when they watch a story about someone experiencing it, rather than reading a rational argument. this phenomenon has been reproduced numerous times in various studies.

You first did it out of necessity and then applied your changed state elsewhere. Most women do not have such necessities because they can rely on more feminine tactics to attract people. true, but i had a very religious upbringing and have certain behaviors more ingrained in me than others. i think other women could and DO consider these options and then choose to act based on them. i have friends that pursue dudes, and others that are more passive. variety is the spice of life :) Most women are…

being a guy that partly enjoys his work, but mostly just shows up for the check. i imagine most hypothetical women in the industry would feel the same way. right now, it seems like only those that are really into it are in the field. they actually did a study and female developers came out better and faster on the same problems than males, probably because they happen to be more passionate about it, on average. also, i see an advantage to having a society, and industries, where it's not just abo…

it's completely reasonable to assume that people who are taught something from birth act upon it. look at religion - most people stay in the same religion all of their lives, and only extraordinary people have the will power and mental aptitude to re-approach these issues and make a change, either to a different religion or out of it all together. why would any other learned view about the world be different? are white people "following their instincts" to christianity rather than socialized tow…

As long as the opportunity is there for men and women equally, I have no problem with it being lopsided. i can agree with that to an extent. but it should be like...60/40, not 80/20. i imagine many guys aren't actually into the work either, but they feel more pressure to have a "practical" job, be the provider, have money, etc.

no, men generally don't have full on temper tantrums in public. are you fucking kidding me? men have murdered women in public for saying no. they go on rampages. and besides dealing with women, men have temper tantrums in public all the time! bar fights, car accidents from road rage, fighting over some girl...like what planet do you live in?

yeah, on one hand, i think that's totally true. but on the other hand, it's also about society's expectation for women. they don't expect them to be in places where you have to "chase your goals and be assertive." they feel out of place there. it's not just women that need to become more assertive, but men that need to see an assertive woman as an equal. my friend was telling me about a book that addressed this subject, trying to teach women how to negotiate better, as they are often more willin…

yeah, the beginnings are there. but it will take a few generations to take effect. for instance, even though i theoretically knew i COULD take a computer class in high school, i saw mostly boys in the classes, clubs, and all of the famous tech people were men. they still are. nothing about it drew me in to think "oh it looks like she's doing something cool, what is it? let's have a look, maybe i could too." girls today still don't have that, but i hope they will soon.

it's probably like that for men the first few times they experience too. women need to feel more rejection. we need to be raised with it as part of our adolescence. then we will become desensitized and fear it no longer.

True, I understand that not all women are like that, but I daresay that the vast numbers of passive women (as you have also observed) are the primary reasons why RP exists in the first place. i don't doubt that. i think where we might differ though is that i see this passivity as learned. i see it as part of gender norms, or the patriarchy, or whatever you'd like to call it. i see it as a bad thing and needs to be fought through media and education. the world needs passive people, but they shoul…

Ya know, not all woman WANT to be active about decision making. In fact, I'd say a sizable chunk are happy giving some of that up for security/provisioning/kids/etc. i'll agree with that statement. many women want to be traditional - it suits them just fine. i think they should have that right. what i don't want is a world where we automatically teach them (whether literally or through media and popular images) that this is the default. in fact, i think we need to actively combat those norms in …

Why? This does not follow from what you've said. Since women are so heavily pursued, what incentive do they have to develop an active strategy? the incentive is having more options, having more influence over the outcome of their interactions in life, and working towards a society where women are seen as important actors in decision making. by your logic, when i started dating women, i would have continued to date men in the same way i did before. but once i learned to become more active, i took…

i generally agree, except women DO have to change this overall dynamic if they want to have certain results, and in a more meta outlook, live in a certain kind of society. i still once in a while sleep with men, but since learning to be more active through dating women, i can now be more active with men as well. i will initiate conversation and ask to meet them in same way. i've realized that this is the kind of society i want to live in - one where there is an expectation from both men and wome…

Yeah, I was just being salty. It's like you tried to explain what I already said, and it came across as condescending, but you know, text doesn't carry tone well. Could be my misunderstanding. what incentive do women have to take a more active role? Wanting to have more choice in decision making in our lives. Wanting to take chances that might get us what we want. Not wanting to live in the patriarchy. Wanting a world where all genders are active

Because men don't get things offered to them like women do. That's inaccurate. What do you mean by "things?" If you mean dates, dinners, and like people helping them with heavy things, then I agree, but when it comes to personal accomplishments in life that women won't have to work twice as hard to get... Half of that effort comes from the need to prove themselves capable and the other half from breaking out of the passive, submissive habits they have been taught (like the one i explained in my …

But everything I said refutes that. In the world of women dating women, no gender is in more demand because everyone is the same gender. It just comes down to which parties take initiative and which ones prefer to be responsive. The same can be applied to the straight world if it decides it wants it.

God damn, you just said everything I already said, only with a bunch of bull shit added, and somehow made it 10x longer. Point is, women should start to be more active in pursuing people they are interested. Nothing to do with "freebies," what utter rubbish. No one I know would ever suffer through two hours of conversation with someone they weren't initially interested in knowing better just to get free dinner.

I think they just don't like the word. But I doubt that if you asked them whether they put thought into how they are going to approach /respond to someone, they would say no. Adults should put thought into most of their interactions and relationships, consider how to communicate with someone based on their personality or sub culture, why would sex and romance be any different? But when it becomes an obsession about strategy, that's when it veers into the manipulative "game" that I assume the wom…

i ask myself that a lot, considering i don't really date them anymore. what exactly about them is such a turn off? i think the biggest thing, besides the male body, is the social pressures of navigating masculinity. i feel sorry for them, but being tangled up in that mess of a man that feels any sort of loyalty to gender roles is simply not appealing.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/16 06:25 PM
2

if it's a thing, i don't have it. i wish i did, because it would be a useful life skill. when i was younger, i was often accused of being overly logical, only offering solutions rather than sympathy, simplifying situations that required nuance and feeling. it wasn't natural for me to identify non-verbal cues that others (especially other women) picked up on. but with time i learned to become more sensitive - or at least fake it, and to have a minimal amount of tact.

i'm a feminist and believe that "objectifying" both men and women can be perfectly fine, depending on the context. but the instances where people throw that term around isn't actually objectifying most of the time, as in see the person not as a human but as an object. it's simply an admiration of one side of a person - their looks.

There seems to be a misunderstanding because I am not angry and am not quitting anything. I date whoever I want (who will date me obviously Haha), these people just happen to rarely be men - the last one I was into was about 2 years ago. In order for your analogy to work, I would need some desire to do something, yet not do it because it's difficult. But I lack a desire to be with a man specifically, so not dating them cannot logically be giving up on anything.

about your girl issues...just communicate to them that you're looking for something serious? Is there a problem saying women in general behave this way and men another way? it's not about if they do, it's about why they do. read up on trans men that compare how they were treated as men to how they were treated as women and it becomes obvious that so much of why we act the way we do is socialization.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/16 01:05 PM

i'm not saying that these issues comes with all men, i'm saying that they come with many many men. so if a girl dates men, she will have to wade through the junk until she finds someone for whom it's just "background radiation." if i only date femme women, i don't need to deal with someone struggling with masculinity and being a man in today's world.

That's really interesting, to each his own, I guess. I'm attracted to outwardly feminine and soft men and women, with certain feminine personality traits like grace, tact, and sweetness (which I lack) but ones that are (like myself) confident, decisive, and more logical than emotional - typically masculine traits I suppose, the opposite of what you are looking for. There are many lesbians that fit this bill, but most andro men I've met also have passive feminine personality traits, and besides, …

Ah, I look at it in the opposite way. If men found sexual gratification in other ways, they would stop seeing women's sexuality as the most valuable part of them. Only then would we have the chance at being true equals.

I agree that it's a different kind of battle, but still a battle. After dating both men and women, however, I will say it's much easier not having to deal with the issues of masculinity at all. Sure, there are some very feminist men that could offer something similar, but with women (at least feminine ones) it's a sure bet. And if there are issues having to do with being a woman, well, at least I have experience.

So far, no on topic replies. The question isn't about "forcibly bend[ing] their own sexuality," rather asking if they would rather be born not attracted to the opposite gender and therefor not need to engage in opposite gender relationship dynamics, which is the topic of this sub.

multiple languages and cultures also have language to describe this concept. Could they all be wrong at the same time? multiple languages and cultures also have language to describe hierarchy among races, does that mean that some races being better than others is an essential truth of humanity? does the fact that most languages spoke of marriage in a way that sounds like the bride is being purchased mean that wives are property? or do these things mean that language simply reflects whatever popu…

We have a fundamental difference in terms of our views on language. You seem to think that our word usage points to some essential truth about our nature. I think language is largely arbitrary and reflects culture. The fact that people say "Oh my god" doesn't mean there is one.

this would be adorably naive if it didn't sound so rapey. guests that i invite over for dinner aren't "invading" my house and aren't "dominating" it, it's the uninvited robber that does that. a penis doesn't control or dominate me simply by entering my body any more than a banana does by entering my mouth. entrance is not intrinsically connected to dominance.

this thread is an eye-opener. i don't know why i have wasted time debating social dynamics with people that have conditions that can cause them to be socially inept in the first place (anxiety, depression, etc) i got diagnosed with ADHD when i was 13, tried taking meds for a few weeks but didn't like them, and that was that. nearsightedness and seasonal allergies are my only conditions.

some do, some don't. some people might love it if strangers come up to them and punch them in the face. maybe even half the population loves it when strangers come up and punch them in the face. nonetheless, don't go around punching people in the face, hoping that the odds are in your favor.

it's not about preference. everyone has their preferences, but when their first choice isn't available, they usually go for the less than ideal choice instead of nothing. why should it be different with sex? do i want to have a friend that comes over every day and cooks amazing food because they adore me? yes. but i don't, so i either do the deed myself, or go to a restaurant and pay for it.

almost no one is attracted to "weak people," but most people are attracted to people that have weaknesses. there's a huge difference. i would not be attracted to a guy that was stoic, and would not be attracted to a guy that was constantly weak either. i would more likely be attracted to someone that was generally strong, but was also not afraid of admit to his weaknesses or show vulnerability when going through strong emotions. someone who bottles it all up seems insecure or afraid.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 09:10 AM

yes, i agree that in general, people want strong spouses. but i don't see vulnerability as the opposite of strong. in fact, i see someone that is unwilling to be vulnerable as a weak person, because for whatever reason, they are not free to say whatever the fuck they want.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:29 AM

i would like to live in a society where someone expressing their feelings, at appropriate times, does not keep them from getting what they want out of life. you don't seem interested in building that society because you don't believe it's possible. therefore, we don't have much to discuss here.

the worst cost is that you be the kind of man that puts women ad odds with men. we need to go in the direction of men and women cooperating together, and being at odds with each other is counter productive and a waste of time.

i'm so glad that this is changing. women are continually contributing more and more to the "world running." maybe once things are equal, everyone will be able to be non-productive and vulnerable once in a while, without societal backlash. feminism is wonderful :D

i don't believe it's in our instinct, but let's just say it is. in that case, it's time to make instinct our bitch instead of submitting to it constantly. i'm pretty sure you already have a good grasp of this when it comes to violence, just let it spread to other areas of your life.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:18 AM

they still prefer men that are more stoic. i don't know where you guys are finding these women. they must not be in my social circles whatsoever.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:16 AM

and that is a sign of weakness. you will comply and submit because it's easier than being a rebel by living a life you believe in.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:14 AM
3

you sound like if you were a white southerner in the 1800's, you would just side with slavery because it was the way society functioned at the time, and would give you the most advantage. change happens through movements, discoveries, and innovation. some of the radical movements of today will be the mainstream of tomorrow. you can already find the more progressive direction society is going in, and surround yourself with those people.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:11 AM
1

they don't just suit me, they suit everyone. in a feminist society, men don't have to fear opening up about their feelings, because lack of feeling isn't something respectable.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:09 AM

i don't disagree that these methods are effective on many women. what i disagree with is that we should be encouraging people to function in a way that gets them the best results, no matter what the cost to others.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:08 AM
1

women are changing, as are men. that's how society works. various movements to create change catch onto the mainstream, until those changes are slowly implemented in society as a whole. feminism seeks a world where men having and expressing their feelings is a positive thing. if you enter progressive circles, you will find people that are comfortable with men expressing their pain and weakness. just because your worldview is focused on "strategy" and "what's in it for me?" doesn't mean that ever…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:07 AM

nobody wants a "weak" anything...a weak child, a weak friend, a weak spouse. there's a difference between being a weak person in general, and having weaknesses. everyone has weaknesses, and someone that is too afraid to expose his weaknesses to those he is closest to is not someone i find attractive. a lack of vulnerability is not attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/16 08:02 AM

Brainwashing doesn't have to come from societal pressure. Cults are far out of the mainstream, and yet do plenty of it. People search for answers to their problems and end up in cults, convinced that their problems have been solved and that they are on the right track. My comment had nothing to do with force, rather with being drawn into a dangerous ideology.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 11:33 PM

we rely on different premises. you take only your version of "nature" into account, while i take a variety of factors into account. we do not have enough of a common premise to have a productive conversation, so let's stop :)

Changing society is a pipe dream. tell that to thousands of years of change. we aren't what we used to be, and we won't be what we are now. find the social circles where masculinity is not threatened by failure, depression, or emotion. they are likely today's version of the values that were historically radical but are commonplace today.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:40 PM
3

I can't control society. I can control myself. I want to have fun until the lights go out. "Society" can burn for all I care. yes, trp focuses on how to get what is good for one's self, no matter how it affects others. this is why i don't think that conversation between rp and bp is all that productive - we come from different base ideologies.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:39 PM

i'm angry that young men are going to find TRP and think they've seen the light while they're brainwashed. they will become selfish and abusive, and will make the world a worse place.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:33 PM
3

But society isn't going to change all you have to do is find the social circles that are going in this direction. i am fascinated while reading the posts on this sub because i simply haven't encountered many of the types of people described by terpers. i assume that the converse is true...you guys think everyone fits those descriptions because that's how those in your social circle operate.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:31 PM
4

those women are weak. find a strong woman that can support herself, and she won't panic when you can't fully support her.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:21 PM
4

it amazes me that you would take these experiences and conclude that men should hide their emotions from women instead of concluding that society should change, encouraging women (and men) to embrace emotion among men. instead of looking for women that appreciate vulnerability, you want to change yourself to suit women that don't. it's as if you don't want society to evolve, you only want to survive the status quo.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 09:19 PM

By your logic, then TBP isn't necessarily the "rational" choice/worldview, wouldn't you agree? yes, that is in line with the same logic. it also has nothing to do with what they were talking about. they're not claiming that TBP is rational simply based on the fact that it's not TRP

it's attractive to me if a guy or girl has a high count because that means they have experience, which is good

i don't understand this question. if i'm in love with someone enough to marry him, i would also probably want to start a family with him. edit: are you asking would we rather settle for someone we aren't attracted to just to have a marriage and a father for the kids, or raise a kid on our own that comes from someone with qualities we like better? if that's your question, then i wouldn't marry anyone i wasn't attracted to in the first place.

no, it's arguing that we should ASSUME that. no one can really know a person's intentions, which is why in sensitive scenarios such as this, we must rely on their words in any case.

yeah, most BPs will admit that there are positive aspects to RP, especially that of self respect and self improvement...it's the over-analysis, generalization, traditionalism, naturalism, and degradation that we don't agree with

yes, we can convince society to operate in this way and we effectively are. society changes its behavior constantly. there has definitely been an improvement in many feminist goals that i have been able to witness in my own short lifetime. this is one of them, with awareness of the concept of consent growing rapidly, and we can continue to improve upon it.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 08:43 PM

it is of the utmost importance. we don't have to have the exact same sense of humor, but there needs to be a large overlap in our humor venn-diagram. we must be able to bounce witticisms, snort at dad jokes, and flow in publicly displayed undercurrents of irony together. it's also essential that they think i'm funny, that i make them laugh, much more than that they make me laugh.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 08:40 PM

You must be the less invested person in the relationship. would changed this to "don't be too invested at the beginning of the relationship." other than that, you're golden. sound advice for anyone. these things aren't exclusive to RP, and can be found in many other sources, or are common sense.

if a girl is into these types of things, she should tell the guy beforehand. in order for us to protect potential victims, the norm must be that a person's communicated ideas actually reflect their intentions, unless otherwise discussed.

no one argues that people always say exactly what they mean. a much better argument is that there are certain situations in which you should assume that they mean it anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 08:29 PM

oh interesting. i was just thinking the opposite. i would love to start a campaign to get women to fuck more people. it would enhance society as a whole and bring greater equality if the average woman was as promiscuous as the average man.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 11:26 AM

men are willing to steep so low because that's often their only option. they will take what they can get. if more women were giving, they wouldn't have to.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 11:05 AM

i think this is a problem among some women, and this is why we need sex-positivism. if women weren't ashamed of wanting sex, they wouldn't feel the need to pretend they don't want it. there would be less ambiguity in the consent department, which would benefit everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/16 07:20 AM
1

yeah, that exists in many women. one more reason why we need feminism, so that women won't be ashamed of what they want sexually, and there will be less ambiguity concerning consent. it's good for everyone.

right, which is why "no" followed by something else like "no, wait." or "no, slow down" isn't an absolute "no." but without that, it might be and it might not be, which is why it's best to err on the side of caution because, you know, you could permanently damage someone if you don't.

nah i just meant not discussing it in this comment thread. i might feel upset if the opposite were true, but coming from a very traditional, religious, non-feminist background and becoming endlessly happier since embracing feminism, i know for a fact that this isn't the case. i have numerous friends who have also broken from this and other traditional backgrounds, and they all echo my sentiments. i also have friends that are very happy still in these settings, and i would never try to force them…

never said dehumanizing was ok. happiness is something we adjust to. it's a bit difficult when we are faced with change. in the end, we can all only base our decisions on our own preferences and the preferences of others. most people express a desire for agency, and this is reinforced by my own desire. therefor, i must promote feminism, which seeks to grant everyone equal agency. since we have such a fundamental disagreement in our vision for humanity, there's no sense in discussing it any longe…

they believe they are still carrying the pre-feminism chivalrous burden they still do in many cases, in certain parts of society. this is part of why men and women aren't equal. feminism is changing this. part of feminism is that men and women shouldn't carry certain burdens just because they were born male or female. /r/PurplePillDebate10/02/16 07:42 AM

i believe that effective feminism advances equality for everyone, not just women. i do not believe that at this time in history, the average adult woman is NOT as capable as the average adult man. feminism has been working to change this situation for decades, and is making great strides, but much more work needs to be done.

if i'm going out, so most of the people i encounter are within 10 years over or under my age, i'd say 20% of guys and 35% of girls. if i'm just randomly walking through the super market in the day time, probably 5% of guys and 20% of girls. the same. this is a weird question because if someone passes the (edit: PHYSICAL) attractiveness threshold, then they're (edit: PHYSICALLY) attractive enough to ask out. i would just need to get to know them more first to see if they were otherwise interestin…

of course not, no one should be seen as having NO intrinsic value. and this: NO value if you don't create or provide, and likewise have a sharp decline in value if you lose all your assets/legacy is certainly not how i see men. i don't want someone to provide for me - the idea turns me off. i know a lot of women apparently want this, but i don't have a single close friend like that. come on, love yourself. you have value. we should all see each other as having value by virtue of existing, and ho…

i can think of tons of scenarios where a person isn't exactly a stranger ....a classmate, a co-worker, a friend's friend. people start to hang out and then become friends. and in my case, not every one of these people wanted to sleep with me - i know, because in some cases, i wanted to sleep with them.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/16 06:42 PM

Problem is women get a false sense of security based on their intrinsic value when they are young, and when it goes away they have nothing because they never bothered building up their extrinsic value. while the sentence following this is bullshit, i really agree with this one, as it pertains to very attractive women especially, but most women generally. feminism is trying to change this, and i hope that the next generation of women will not default to relying on others.

i really don't believe that you find 60/100 of the women you encounter day to day attractive. 25% of them or more will be over 50 years old, so unless you're into that, that means you're really attracted to 55/70 of the under 50-years-old women. so you're saying that you're attracted to 80% of women that aren't potential grandmas?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/16 05:58 PM

nah, olive oil. i'm addicted to them lately...i sautee them on the stove in a good amount of oil, face down, then put them in a hot oven with another sprinkle of oil and salt on the top, then when they're just about done, i put on balsamic glaze and a bunch of chopped garlic, then back in the oven until the tops are brown and crispy. soooooooooo good....

/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/16 04:04 PM

if you don't mean all, don't say all. if you want to generalize, use a generalizing term like "most." your exaggeration makes your arguments sound all the less rational. of course this attitude will change things, if enough people do it. if i don't assume anything, then it will continue to be a surprise to me when guys divulge that they're interested. they will know i was surprised, and perhaps change their behavior with the next girl, being more open at the beginning. and your fantasy that men …

well you said all women...and i am a woman...so it can't be all women. that's just math :) and oh, god no. i will not assume any man that talks to me is sexually attracted to me. that is not the kind of world i want to live in, and i won't promote it.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/16 03:41 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/16 03:33 PM

this is so wrong. i can't count how many times someone has shocked me by telling me they were interested, or by becoming flirtatious suddenly after drinking, etc. one former coworker recently told me he had a huge crush on me, and i had zero idea.

because when i look at the options: a. have mediocre sex but be able to eat whatever i want and never exercise or b. have great sex but have to deny myself what i want to eat and have to endure physical pain every day i easily choose option a. the joy i would get from having sex with hotter people doesn't nearly compare to the joy i get from eating an entire pan of greasy roasted brussels sprouts, like i just did.

geez OP, i'm on your side in this argument, but some of your comments in this thread are irrational. you sound just like many of the RPers that come to this sub to ask a question only to draw their own assumptions about the answers. it's not that complicated: there are many people that i do not consider my equal in one area or another, but that does not mean i hate them. Yes, I've done this many times. I'm attracted to very few men, yet men are the ones generally available for sex, and I want to have sex :). Often I will hook up with a guy that I'm not really attracted to but not repulsed by either. The idea of kissing and their body being all over mine doesn't appeal to me so I'll opt for mutual oral/hand stuff.

There are lower rates of crime I'm referring to the fact that instead of physically fighting over every little thing, like we did 10,000 years ago, we talk about it. After a simple five minutes of historical contemplation, you can easily realize that your assertions are simply untrue. At its core, TRP does reflect some reality for some parts of society. But this is a reality that's growing old, and the western world is rapidly progressing beyond it. Humanity is about keeping our instincts in check and evolving beyond our dispositions, but TRP is a regression to a primitive state where viscera reigns over intellect. Its obsession with evolutionary socio-psychology as an instruction manual rather than as an explanatory tool makes this clear. Practically speaking, many of the li…

Belief A Belief B Nope. Your premise is wrong, so your argument cannot be addressed. Most of these people are not saying that men should give head to women no matter what, they are saying that if they want to get head, they should give head. If a woman or man or completely disgusted by it and doesn't want to do it, that's their prerogative, but they shouldn't expect it to be done to them.

You risk a lot doing this thing that is admittedly awesome if and only if it's done right and in a place of trust and comfort. Can't that be said about sex in general? Women need to carefully consider how they extrapolate sex life into the real world as well. We need to be aware of the way gender roles influence our general perception as well. But the queer thing can expedite the process. The first time I had sex with a woman resulted in a paradigm shift. The idea of gender, power dynamics, and …

I don't disagree that women look down on men who are submissive in real life. They look down on women that are submissive in real life. People look down on people that are doormats. What a revelation! This, however, has nothing to do with the bedroom in a healthy individual. People that can't separate their sexual desires from the rest of reality are demented. It would depend how severe it was and how much I wanted to exercise those rights. We would have an honest and ongoing conversation about it. I would ask him what about it appeals to him. I would ask him what was lacking in his life that he feels he gains through this philosophy. I would encourage him to think not only about what he is gaining, but how it affects others. If he was living in my house, 18+, and it got to the point where he was disrespecting me, I would kick him out.

do you think that feminism just came down from heaven and immediately reformed all women? it's a process. women being active about what they want is something feminism encourages, but by no means have most women come to that point. if you want to encourage women to ask men out, do it. tell your friends to do it with guys they like, write in your online dating profiles that whoever asks you out gets bonus points.

i think women, on average, do feel more entitled than men for inconveniences, and expect someone else to do it for them. in my opinion, it's because we were raised that way, having our parents (mainly dad) do things for us constantly, and then once we start to grow up, we aren't told we need to start doing things on our own. we expect other men to take off where our parents left. thankfully, feminism is trying to change this, as more and more girls and women are being inspired to take initiative…

yeah, and i replied that i am not educated enough in this area to know if that is true or not, and gave my impression based on what i have read on the topic. i am certainly not going to do enough research to understand whether there is a "war" or not. this would be the stage where you link a short article talking about this war, not link a movie talking about something you propose is involved in it.

it's not about having a busy life (i don't). it's about not wanting to devote 40 minutes to one reddit comment. instead of blaming others, maybe work on your summarizing skills :)

uhhh i'm not asking for funding because i'm not an expert. also, posting 40 minute long videos on a reddit comment might not be your best strategy for convincing people of your ideas.

men being more prone to rape or physically abuse than women is not "feminist theory"....it's statistics. creep shaming is not acceptable because of feminism; it's acceptable because being creepy is seen as a negative thing to most of society. i'm no expert, but it seems like pretty common sense that gender difference and inequality would be a product of both social and genetic factors, and the tension between these schools of thought lies in how prominent either influence is in a given area. the…

this is an odd one. if you go on a date with someone else while in a monogamous relationship, that's still breaking the commitment of the relationship. it might not be as severe as sexual cheating, but it's still infidelity.

you didn't give to parallels. you didn't mention which red flags each group should look out for. you mentioned cynicism in the latter group, which has little to do with the rationality you are trying to convince us of. yeah, people should look out for red flags when it comes to every day interactions and relationships. some of the things people should look out for are more common in women, and some are more common in men. i don't see how this is really proving anything, or even asking an insight…

feminism also addresses biological issues that affect females. gender is a component in many of the arguments, but not the sole component. besides this, some schools of thought in radical feminism reject the idea of gender all together. but seriously, this has nothing to do with your original critique of my metaphor. even if feminism was only about gender, the fact that gender is a social construct has no bearing on whether or not it should be studied.

i'm totally an ass-woman when it comes to women, because i already have all the tits the two of us would need. when it comes to men...hmm hard to choose nice hard pecs over a firm little butt..i think i'll go with butt.

i'm not sure that these kind of comments would affect me enough to notice them. because i used to be religious, i was a virgin until a few years ago. i was called "the jewish nun" in high school, which some might consider shaming, but i thought it was funny and played along. i've managed to sleep with the better half of 100 people since my break from religion, and am open about my experiences with the curious. no one has ever shamed me about it, or maybe i'm just not easily offended and don't pi…

You said feminism isn't about gender didn't say that. i said it's not only about gender. Though the main point is I believe feminism is about gender; it is what makes feminism, feminism. if i disagreed with that, i wouldn't have made my original comment. your issue was how well my analogy of economics to money correlates with feminism to gender. we addressed this. is there anything else we need to clear up?

that sounds like a response from someone that knows a bit about the relationship, and knows that there's unfinished business to discuss - something to "do." if she was cool with it, why else would she say that instead of something like "cool, have a good time, tell her i say hi"...? and to all those commenting that men don't own a way of responding, come on, you know what OP meant: a response we think of as more typical of men.

i understood that it was a joke, but for your joke to be effective it has to make a point. it seems that the point you were trying to make is that the idea that brains aren't divided by sex means that there must be no gender which means that feminists would have an issue with their arguments. since a conclusion like that doesn't make sense, the joke doesn't make sense. the idea that if we have the same brains we must have the same emotions takes only biological sex, and not gender or other aspec…

i went to a lecture by the scientist behind the study, which is where my information is from. i just linked an article about the study here so that readers could get an idea about it. yes, there is a gradual scale with two clusters at either end, like with height. there is no "male height" and "female height." but you could still take the heights of both genders, average it, and create "male height" and "female height." now do that with three other characteristics....waist size, voice pitch, sho…

you should read "the righteous mind" by jonathan haidt. everyone thinks and bases their decisions mainly on emotion. everyone, men and women, are completely irrational. i would agree that in general, i find that most of my friends that are overly-emotional in the little things are women, but most of my friends that are usually reserved about their emotions, and then have these big dramatic break-downs, are men. so i think that society needs to encourage men as a whole to feel more welcome to exp…

most of the women did not respond that way...about half of them did. but anyway, no one is obligated to tell anyone anything unless it's in court, but hopefully in a relationship there would be enough respect that if one partner wanted to know some information about the other, the other would honestly disclose. it is reasonable to ask about the sexual history of one's partner, and it's reasonable not to want to date someone who's slept with a lot of people if that's not your cup of tea.

i agree with you (mostly). i've heard no convincing argument against objectifying a person that one doesn't know or needs to treat as a "whole person" in that context, no matter what the gender. you can't tell how great of a ping-pong player someone is, or how high their intellect is, or how wonderful of a grandma they are when you see them pass on the street or see a picture on the internet. they are just an image, an object to you, and it's fine to appreciate their physicality. where it gets t…

TBP'ers think TRP ideology is ridiculous and harmful, but aren't attempting to give an alternative one-size-fits-all ideology. in fact, that dogmatic attitude is an aspect of TRP that TBP emphasizes as one of i…

i agree with your last paragraph, but i don't think it fits here. she isn't saying men are low value, rather that sex with men is. something of low value is something widely available, cheap, easily accessible. that quote is just fact - "dick" is available to the average woman whenever she wants. it's not hard to find, it's everywhere, it's abundant.

i'm really not surprised that people that think illogically like this end up jumping on TRP. they can't wrap their heads around the idea that not everyone is the same because they believe that all women are identical. gender equality in sex, as in every other domain, isn't about everyone doing the same thing, it's about everyone's desires and boundaries being taken into consideration as equally important. if someone doesn't want to do some sexual act, any sexual act, that is their choice and nee…

There's a Shakespeare play called Much Ado About Nothing, and in it (spoilers...as if anyone cares), an upper class woman that is supposed to marry gets falsely accused and framed as having sex with someone. Without her virginity in tact, her future husband rejects her and she's shamed in front of the entire town. Later, it comes to light that it was a different woman that was seen banging someone that night, and that the whole thing being a setup. The reaction towards the woman who was actually…

You're right about one thing: most women wouldn't want to have sex with someone without getting to know them. You started off fine, but then somehow you came to this kooky conclusion that the only alternative to asking a stranger if she would like to have sex with you is manipulating her. Your predicament was was right, let's come up with different solutions, but this time with moral standards. Most women want to have sex with someone they have some sort of connection to. Whether that be a frien…

there are different streams of feminism - it's not a religion with a canonized set of laws, rather a movement with various branches but central ideas in common. your average feminist in 2015 will say that if a girl feels like being dominant, superb! if a girl feels like being submissive, awesome! we should all have the sex we want to have as long as there is consent involved for all parties.

i'm not on board with this, but the argument that if they were really oppressed they wouldn't be able to publish is just silly... think of a population group you think is oppressed in the USA - would they not be able to publish?

first of all, sexual dominance isn't actual dominance. if someone first needs the other person's consent to "dominate" them, they aren't truly dominating, are they? consensual sex is the anti-definition of rape. the entire argument is disconnected and ridiculous.

yep, and this also feeds into why terpers think that their methods work. they do work!...on a certain kind of woman (often non-progressive and insecure). i read about what TRP thinks ALL women want, and can't relate to it whatsoever, but could i honestly say that i don't know any women that could? no. i have friends that would be all over TRP's idea of an "alpha," minus the abusive attitude of course. so, as a girl that is attracted to softer guys and is turned off by anyone dominant, but has ma…

there is a certain stream of radical feminism that sees porn in the way explained in the article, but that does not represent the mainstream. it seems that most modern feminists don't see the concept of porn as something that could be inherently feminist or anti-feminist, and instead focus critique on the industry, on consent, and on how we digest it as society.
