Yes, I experienced that too with my LVX, he was so full of fakeness and acting like he was the best boyfriend, caring, loving, attentive, etc., in public around others but like you said when I expressed anything when it was us two, he couldn't muster up enough energy to pretend to listen. He'd get jealous of what I was doing, no one was stopping him. Of course this didn't happen in the beginning, he was on his best behavior or I would've gotten rid of him a lot sooner.

Yes, my ex did that. I blocked him on everything and anything. Blocked his whole damn family and friends too. Changed my phone number, lived in another state (not because of him but because of a job) and the only thing left was my email that I had since forever and he popped up on there. I can't even be civil or nice and just say hi and how's it going because it escalates to come see me, let's meet up BS so the last time I got an email I ignored it, deleted it, well called it spam and then delet…

Instead of just saying what a great job she did and admire how nice it looks, it's back on him and how it makes a man feel insecure or unneeded. But I bet if she asked him to help her out before it happened, he would've been full of excuses of why he couldn't find the time to help out or "too busy" for it right now.
