So I found this discussion when a Buzzfeed post came on my wall since several of my friends liked it. I'm not entirely sure where else I can post this, but I do find it very ironic when pro-choice women ends up throwing the "but if you didnt want consequences, then you shouldnt have done it!". BTW all of those are women. I do commend the OP for at least having a logical sense to try to balance the choices.

that's interesting, but the article didnt really bring much evidence pointing at the gender roles, but rather data correlating the suicide rates with heavy industry/recession. iirc many if not most suicides point to career/financial crisis, and seeing these are the men who were hit by major economic changes the most, i doubt it's the 'not wanting to leave the gender roles' are the main reasons they've done it.

i'm a bit skeptic about this. in my college alone, a lot of kids(mostly girls) took computer science not because they're in to programming, but because they feel like it's the new fad in career. in the end, most of them that remained in the field became designers, QA, and analysts. i'm not saying those positions are not important for the field, but i feel like this is only going to be a waste of investment if you're going to force kids into fields that they are not really passionate about.
