I see your point here. It's often the most radical who are the most vocal. I've noticed men getting completely shut down on feminist forums before in ways that I thought was rude and unnecessary. I haven't looked in to humanism but maybe it's something I should check out.

You know, I wish it was possible to have a conversation on this sub without people getting so aggressive and defensive. It really takes away from the dialogue. We are talking about two different things. You are obviously talking about a woman who gets drunk and regrets her decision to have sex the next morning. Those are all definitely areas that need more attention that I wouldn't have necessarily thought about if I hadn't run into r/mensrights. I don't think it's right the way so many people dismiss the movement. But then I get comments from some people like u/EatsTinyBaldBabies and I see how easy it is for a few hate spewing petty people to dilute your efforts at seeming like a normal group fighting for legitimate equality issues.

I think that is mostly a taught behavior though. Men also can recognize when another man is empirically attractive, but our current social norms discourage men from commenting on the attractiveness of other men (homophobia, etc.), whereas pretty much everybody is encouraged to assess and comment on the attractiveness of women.

Men are being objectified more and more now adays and advertisers try to create new markets based off of the insecurities they create. Not a good thing, it would be better if neither sex were objectified to sell things.

I agree there needs to be more awareness about female on male sexual assault as well as male on male sexual assault. The current language is centered around male on female sexual assault. There also needs to be more awareness about female on male domestic violence. These are all real issues that are currently underserved. That said, how do we reduce rape rates?

wow you're really comparing feminism to neo-nazis? I don't think I can have a rational conversation with you then. But using your example, non-whites worked with progressive whites during the Civil Rights Movement against the bigots in power. They didn't say "all white people hate us and are trying to subjugate us." In the same vein, most feminists (who are NOT radical mysandrists) would support equal rights for men and women.

I'm sure that there are female predators out there too. Men also rape men. There are a lot of problems with our current treatment of rape, its perpetrators and victims. Regardless of whatever the real statistics are on women rapists, I'm not sure that what you're suggesting would have any measurable impact on rape rates either though.

There are dangers in positive stereotypes as well, as you have pointed out, the positive stereotype that women are naturally nurturing caregivers can lead to undeserved trust by parents and potentially put children in harm's way. Focus groups are so helpful for things like this. Is there any information on the development process of that controversial campaign? It would be silly if they didn't consult males during the concept development, but definitely not uncommon when it comes to public education. Bystander effect is a huge one. I think they should do more on that. Women are definitely taught from an early age to keep an eye on their friends, make sure they're ok at the end of the night when they're wasted talking to a guy or something. Do men get the same kind of training?

I can see how that campaign would be offensive to guys. I can't imagine what it must be like to know that you have to act carefully around other people's children because people might think you're a pedo. It's definitely a privilege of being a woman (as well as a positive stereotype that's not always true). I wouldn't call not being allowed to register for the draft "getting something for free". No. I'd call that gender discriminatory. The direct ground combat exclusion rule wasn't even eliminated until January 2013. Now that men and women are both eligible for ground battle, they should both be required to register for the draft.
