we actually have all sorts of stats in marriage and romantic cohabitation. the majority of men are not completely single. the majority of people are getting married later, so it makes sense that younger men are less likely to be paired off. the singleness gap narrows pretty dramatically after age 30, which also lines up with later marriage. so i don’t think there’s any reason to be worried about dating. people will adapt. majority of people are still dating and cohabitating and getting married.

the advice doesn’t say “never make a mess” if you don’t make a mess to begin with, you don’t have to clean it up. ie, if you take your shoes off before you walk through the house, you won’t have to clean up tracked in dirt. if you put clothes directly into a hamper, you don’t have to pick them up off the floor later. if you pick meals to cook that only take one pan versus three, you have less dishes to do. it’s basically the clean home version of “work smarter, not harder.”

one of my favorite things in old writing (and linguistics as a whole) is seeing the pejoration and amelioration of words; ie words with positive or neutral connotations becoming negative and vice versa. so like you read an old book and they say wench but it just means girl in that time period or awful is a positive word, terrific being used to mean causing terror, etc

he just isn’t great at meal planning. like i take inventory of everything we have and then by only a couple ingredients. he picked seven random meals and bought each individual ingredient. he also buys convenience things, ie he bought shredded carrots whereas i just buy whole carrots and shred them…. we literally still had whole carrots in the fridge
