No need to be this snarky about it. You misunderstood me. I thought I was clear enough but apparently not. I read plenty, but thanks for your concern.

Yes, this!! Partly my bad for not phrasing it as well as I could have, oops!

Sorry, I didn't phrase that as well as i should have - I was agreeing with you and just rephrasing it with a different drink/analogy. Macallan 25 is an extremely nice whiskey. Jack and coke is obviously cheap/low quality. I was saying you could be a high-quality item and a LV man will have LV taste, and that we shouldn't confuse his poor taste for us not being high quality. This is what I get for trying to make reddit comments after 3 glasses of wine LOL

No space for LVM/NVM men in my life, platonically or romantically.

You could be a glass of Macallan 25 and that man prefers a Jack and Coke. Don’t mistake his lack of taste for your lack of quality.

This is the best advice in this thread so far, OP. You’re still single - keep dating. How your first date with Guy1 went should have NO impact on whether you go on a date with Guy2, because you don’t know either of them well enough to let them be considerations in your decisions.

I love sex. I’d consider myself hyper-sexual. I’ve had MOST men I’ve dated unable to keep up with my sex drive. And I want nothing more than for most men to NOT WANT TO FUCK ME

Yep! Even an intimate partner doesn’t get unfettered access to every aspect of my life. I’m the ONLY one who gets that. Boundaries are important and healthy! So is trust! If I feel that I don’t trust you, I’m getting out of there, because it’s irrelevant if my suspicions are true or not - I don’t want to be with someone I don’t trust, and at the same time, no one should want to be with someone who doesn’t trust them.

The stoic philosopher Seneca said “I shall never be ashamed of citing a bad author if the line is good” Or, in other words, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Honestly all power to women who want to go through their man's phone, I'm not trying to pull some "not-like-other-girls" shit, but I never go thru men's phones purely because I don't want them going through mine. I don't have anything to hide but that's my private business and it's just a boundary with me. Like, I don't want you reading my mail, digging thru my bathroom cabinet, or going thru my phone. I do, however, watch carefully how twitchy a man gets when I use his phone to change the music…

You didn’t ask for advice so I’m sorry that this is unsolicited, and feel free to ignore me - but something that has really, really helped me in building my self-esteem was 1. Deleting Instagram (and other social media, but this was the biggest culprit) and 2. Finding beautiful women to admire who LOOK LIKE ME. If you find a celebrity with similar features to you - especially features you’re insecure about - and practise admiring them on that person, it becomes a lot easier to admire them on you…

Sometimes I remember the trash quality of living my exes ALL existed in, no matter how much money they made, and it makes me wonder if there is just something chemically different with men’s brains that they don’t realize how disgusting their homes are.

Not going to go into the details bc I respect his privacy but it was true, the situation (and extensive details he SHOULDNT have been telling me) was too specific and convoluted to be a lie... but then, why are you still trying to go out with a girl the same day you’re dealing with all of this?? Obviously you’re still going to be upset by our date, are you expecting me to provide free therapy on a first date?? If we were in a long term relationship then I understand leaning on me for support but…

Good for you. Years ago, I cancelled a date last minute too because the guy kept pushing back our meeting time because he was "busy" and "running late". 5 turned to 5:30 turned to 6 turned to me telling him I was going out with friends instead. Never explained why or gave me any sort of legitimate reason until I ended up cancelling on him - then it comes out that he was dealing with a family emergency, which he proceeded to give me all of the extensive details about. I simply responded "You didn…

Fucking MOOD My LV ex has been on my mind a lot lately and every time I get nostalgic for the good times I’ve been reminding myself of how happy he was to stagnate in his life and career and how that could NEVER be me.

haha ohhh trust me, I've been doing tons of readings on codependency and my anxious attachment style over the past few months, I got out of a TEXTBOOK codependent relationship in March and it was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through, but now I almost want to thank him for dumping me! I've learned and grown so much in the past few months, and I'm only going to get better

Yes, I love the feminist frame that so many posts on this sub use! And a lot of posts are related to female empowerment and growth as well! My theory is a lot of us realize we have growth to do once we go through shitty relationships that bring our own shortcomings to light (pick-me habits, codependency, "fix him" mindset, scarcity mindset to name a few). It just feels so good to have a female-centred safe space to acknowledge my own failings and learn how to grow from them.

See, for me, I want to be dating - I'm super social and love meeting new people! But FDS has helped me come to the realization that I'm not capable of forming quality romantic relationships right now, and that's okay! I'm focusing on myself and expanding my friend group with people who make me want to be better and a big part of that has been the lessons I've taken away from the handbook and recommended posts in the sidebar. And when I do start dating again, I'll have the strong foundation I'm b…

You deserve peace, happiness and to feel content with your life. If someone is disturbing that, don’t let them be part of your life anymore! You are more than enough company for yourself - focus on making yourself into the best person you can be, and someone will come along who matches that energy, and until then, you are lucky enough to be in your own company.

Sometimes all we need is an outsider's perspective :) You deserve to be happy, and you should put your own happiness and well-being first - and he should put his own first, as well! Remember, the "right" guy at the wrong time is the WRONG GUY.

No response is a response. Him not communicating his needs to you is enough of a sign that he's not the guy for you, because it's clearly already upsetting you. Him being depressed and in recovery is a legitimate reason for him to not be communicating, and him not communicating is a legitimate reason for you to not be with him anymore - you don't owe him anything, especially after only 2 months. Don't wait around for a man. Don't waste time trying to justify his actions and using those justifica…

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume we’re taking different meaning from your original comment. I took it to mean that you think she looks ugly and disfigured because of her plastic surgery, the way people often describe Donatella Versace to look. If you meant it another way then it was unclear to me.

Nah the OG comment is clearly a mockery of her looks. The same user then expanded on her criticism being rooted in the choices and what the fillers represent (which I actually wholeheartedly agree with), but that’s not what the first comment expresses. I’m just not here for women being mocked. Criticized, in a respectful and eloquent way, absolutely. But I feel gross about straight up mocking other women.

I agree with this sentiment. Your original comment, however, clearly mocks her for her looks, not the choices related to them. It’s an important distinction.

I quite literally got a message on tinder the other night that said "hey, I think you're beautiful and I'm looking for someone to have casual sex with. Is this something you'd be interested in?" and when I responded "I appreciate your honesty. That's not what I'm looking for, but thank you for being up front and good luck!" he responded back with "No worries, have a great night. And I was serious about you being beautiful" and then unmatched me after I 'liked' the message. Frankly, if I was stil…

Imagine? I don’t have to imagine. I was- gag I was this girl gag Begged the guy I’d been dating for 7 months to introduce me to his parents. We were looking at apartments together but he still hadn’t introduced me to any family members. I get nauseous remembering that relationship and my behaviour in it, but I also have such a sense of pride at how far I’ve come.

“a man can do all of those things and still be low/negative value” YEP. I just dumped a guy who was 6’5”, gorgeous, made good money and was generous in bed because he was selfish everywhere else, not affectionate, didn’t listen when I spoke, was condescending and took my company for granted. He was SHOCKED - he told me he’d never been dumped before, he’d only ever been the one to end things. Oops, sorry buddy - looks like you accidentally dated someone who likes and respects themselves this time…

Your comment reminded me of an ex of mine. He was overall a LVM and I'm better off without him in my life, but one thing I'm very grateful to him for was forcing me to realise just how insane the physical power difference between men and women truly is. I did a lot of risky shit when I was younger - yelling back at catcallers, threatening men who made nasty comments/touched me/were rude to me in public, walking alone at night, etc. He called me out on it and tried to convince me it wasn't safe f…

Semi unrelated, but reminded me - a couple of months ago I scheduled five different dates with five different dudes in five days, and on three out of those five dates I got cat-called on my way from my car to meeting the date.

Honestly, I'm becoming grateful for it. Part of me wants to *thank* them for showing me who they are so clearly and keeping me from wasting more time on them. Like, "Thank you for making it crystal clear that you're not worth my time and making it easy for me to move on"

As a bi girl, I love using the term Partner with either my girlfriends or boyfriends, and wish more Hetero couples would use it. It normalizes the terminology!! And I like the idea of a relationship being a partnership
