It's computer science vernacular; he's saying that spending time with an LTR isn't the same as wasting time on a plate.

Thank you for making this post. In addition to what you've said, I'd like to mention the importance of shoulder health. It is imperative that you strengthen the rotator cuff muscles and stretch regularly in order to ensure you avoid injuries. After all, many of the fitness icons we follow on social media are always advertising about deep tissue massage and it's perks.

I would recommend a more bodybuilding-esc routine. Meaning, focusing on compound movements, with an addition of isolation exercises to follow. Many routines you see will follow along push/pull splits. For instance, Monday's will include chest (push/press movements), and Wednesday's will include back (pull movements). Here's my suggestion: Monday: Chest + shoulders Wednesday: Back + arms Friday: Legs + abdominals Saturday: Stretching + shoulder strengthening (rotator cuff muscles) to avoid injuri…

Incredible read—beautifully written. Thank you for sharing with us, as I am positive it was anything but easy for you to write this. It is unfortunate of course, but this is the epitome of this cruel world, as they say "life is unfair". Hopefully, you are able to live life the way your father had intended to.

I would recommend you to do your research and construct a proper work out plan, and invest in a gym membership. I advise a proper gym because there's a lot more variety among machines and exercises, so you'll always have room to switch up your routine. I too keep to myself at the gym, because it's what you're supposed to do. I have never met anyone that goes to the gym thinking it's social hour to make friends. Lastly, try and find a training partner, as it can greatly help you push each other.

If you keep thinking like this, it will end up being true. You have to visualize yourself at the top of the mountain, knowing that you overcame every obstacle to achieve what you did. No one is born shredded. No one is immune to lack of motivation. Take it day by day, breaking down the big picture into smaller pieces and conquering them one, by one.

Here is something that no one else seems to mention: bodybuilding is a marathon; the patience game. The only fastest way to get where you want to, is ensure that progress is always steady. This includes making changes when you need to in your diet and training program. I rank diet as more of a priority as even minimal training can yield results, whereas a poor diet won't.

I don't get it lately, I'm extremely exhausted at the end of my leg day. I think I work out too soon after my afternoon meal. Trust me, eventually you'd rather get a pump than run.
/r/askTRP18/02/17 11:40 AM

Sounds about right. I'm preparing for my legs work out right now, and I go to a very small gym so I always have to improvise for my hamstring extensions. This how I do them: https://youtu.be/xSjmKTf4QbA Get ready for a hard time to walk tomorrow.
/r/askTRP18/02/17 04:51 AM

As you learn more, you will be improvising a lot more during your work outs. I have often read advice where people are told they will not activate muscle growth unless they are sore the next day. This is false! I highly recommend this video, which discusses the signals for muscle growth. Lastly, after two weeks, I would recommend slightly increasing the weight while trying to maintain the best form you can, too use progressive overload.

I would take a look into Khan Academy. Anything that is worth something cannot be attained with ease.

Exactly! As it goes, "Watch they do, not what they say."

If there were a movement that pushed "fat acceptance" for men, you would hear something along the lines of "Why does it matter if he's 300+lbs? You should date him for what's inside. Don't be shallow." But, you don't. Hence, why certain women are completely confident within themselves when approaching any man—they know the rules are skewed for their gender.
/r/TheRedPill15/02/17 08:53 AM

I would argue that the trend of "dadbods" was a construct made by insecure women. I asked my female friends, that why they would choose a man that does not care for his health, over someone that is disciplined and hard working, and the answers were always the same: "I don't want a guy that's obsessed with himself—a narcissist." "I think it's cute when guys have a little chub to them. Plus, they're not try-hards." You get the idea. Any woman that is strong and confident would much rather choose a…

Message me if you'd like advice in the future as well. I know I would've appreciated guidance when I started out. "Do to others as you would have them do to you." - Luke 6:31.

Well put. The math is challenging, but you have to realize you aren't the only one who struggles with it. Furthermore, it does end at some point, and it is better to know that you were able to grow mentally and overcome it, rather than simply giving up.

I am currently enrolled in pre-calculus, and it is challenging. But, I am determined to do my best, and get an A/B. Overcoming my troubles in mathematics has been one of my most excruciating journey's in life, and I will defeat it. Additionally, I am taking Java as well, and it is proving to be more difficult than I would've imagined. I will most likely have to pursue CIS instead of CS, because I have to be somewhat realistic in terms of my capabilities. However, I am choosing to take some progr…

Yes, those are rest days. Great! That means you made an effort. You will be extremely sore the next day, and it will get a little better every day after that. Just stick through the first week, the soreness will be completely normal as you're body has never done this before.

But you can never get to B if you don't achieve A? Take everything one step at a time. Every meal, every work out, every day, every week—one at a time. Grab a piece of paper and write down one big goal, and then break it down step by step. For instance, you want to bench press 225lbs: Bench press 225lbs focus on chest twice a week implement variations of work outs (drop sets, 1 rep maximum) practice form See? If you want to go from 1 to 2, you must go through 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and so on. Slow p…

That's the spirit! But, keep in mind you have to do this for yourself. Your competition is with yourself—the man in the mirror. If you constantly look at others' progress, it will negatively impact yours.

Welcome to the world of bodybuilding. A lot of people start out because they want to attract girls, but then they realize, they're doing to be better than everyone else. You will experience new heights of confidence, respect for others who practice discipline to a great degree, and earn the respect of others. The nature of man is to change, to adapt and grow stronger. You know what to do.

Awesome! I myself am guilty for not having a variety of foods in my diet, but that is starting to change. Be sure to learn how to cook to some degree as well, otherwise it will feel more like a chore, rather than a pleasure.

I suggest one day/week because it's enough to shed off some weight, without hindering muscle growth. Keep in mind, dieting is just as important, if not more for your physique.

Rotator cuffs are small muscles deep within the shoulder joint, that essential to healthy shoulders. A simple Google Search will yield what you're looking for. Monday: Chest + Shoulders + Triceps Chest - Incline dumbbell press (3 sets x 8-12 reps) Barbell bench press (2 sets x 8-12 reps) Push-ups (2 sets x 8-12 reps) Shoulders - Barbell military press (3 sets x 8-12 reps) Lateral shoulder raises (3 sets x 8-12 reps) Seated bent over-over rear delt raise (3 sets x 8-12 reps) Triceps - Bench dips …

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend weightlifting M/W/F, and running on Sunday's. However, I'd slice the running in half, and include stretching + strengthening rotator cuff muscles on Saturday and Sunday. If you need help constructing a program for bodybuilding, let me know, I'd love to help.

Some argue that training and dieting are quality important, but I'd place greater emphasis on the diet aspect. As I've returned to bodybuilding in the past months, training with 3lbs dumbbells and eating properly yielded far better results than when I was in my prime, but slacking off with my food intake.

This is why I love MyFitnessPal. I thought tracking calories and meals would be a hassle, but it is incredibly easy. In my opinion, it is the best app for anyone interested in training and eating healthy. In a matter of weeks, anyone can kick-start their way to improve their eating habits—IIFYM.

The big picture is frightening. In my second day of learning Java, the professor mentioned tackling complex projects piece, by piece. That approach is the best approach, as it is a means for progress—slow progress is better than no progress at all. Personally, I've been off track with my diet because of school, but I've recently ordered some supplements to give me an incentive to make more of an effort. Lastly, I'd put diet above training in terms of importance, because it will dictate your enti…

You'll learn to love the weights once you see results. Keep in mind that the number on the scale is only one indicator of progress, since you can measure progress by the amount of weight you can lift, for how many repetitions, etcetera. I like the route of eating slightly above my maintenance calories, allowing me to gain slowly, while I successfully maintain my lean and vascular look. Once you experiment with your diet and training program, you will eventually look far bigger in comparison to y…

I am grateful for naturally having a wide frame. Seeing others with a narrow build is a sad sight. Yes, they can overcome it, but genetics can sometimes truly make, or break you.
/r/askTRP12/02/17 11:38 PM

There aren't enough compound lifts for the hamstring. I'll have to give this a try.

Fantastic quote! A great asset that helped learn quickly, was following fitness models. I immediately subscribed to several YouTube creators to follow their content. Many of them post great guides to bodybuilding, eating and shaping your life towards a better future. Don't forget, they also use Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Lastly, everyone has to start somewhere.

I injured myself due to negligence regarding my shoulder health and too much emphasis with the pectorals. I recently began bodybuilding again a few months ago, and I cannot do any form of overhead movements. However, I am still making fantastic progress. But yes, pull-ups serve as a stepping stone to a perfect back, as variation with the grip can allow you to make for a grueling set. I have noticed many individuals like to focus on biceps and chest far more often, than back or triceps, simply be…

No problem! The best part is, it will only get better from here. I love envisioning the future and building for it; the massive shoulders and wide v-taper, alongside sculpted arms and the chest. I suggest you imagine yourself at the finish line too, as it will only motivate you.

A big aspect of training that is overseen among newcomers is diet. The word diet doesn't refer to shifting your eating habits to drastic measures for a wanted outcome, but instead it means what a personal normally eats. The saying, "what's on the inside, will show on the outside" holds very much true. As a beginner, I wanted to immediately invest in protein powder, seeing the results I thought my brother achieved with them. But instead, it was his complete diet that contributed to the success. S…

You are already moving in the right direction by identifying the problem and searching for a solution. If you haven't already, start searching for ankle exercises online—practice standing on one leg at a time for 15 seconds, 4 sets every day, and increase the time as you progress. Furthermore, start walking, everywhere. This will help you lose weight, as well as strengthen your legs. Lastly, a big part of training is to do whatever works best for you. Whether it is wide stance squats, pause reps…

It's a start, and it's better than nothing. It truly is overwhelming with the options available. u/Pitchfork51 listed a simple, yet effective work out for you to start. Additionally, if you struggle with pull-ups, lying down on your back, and pulling yourself up with a barbell in a power rack/smith machine, essentially like an inverted pull-up. Furthermore, you'll want to lose weight, but gain muscle at the same time. Thus, you have to start doing some form of cardio. Personally, I hate running,…

What's is your body like? I am positive you are very sore as it is, but learn to fight through it, for now. I would recommend going to the gym three days a week, for 45-60 minute sessions/day. However, if you feel as you've accomplished a great amount in 30 minutes, then so be it. In the beginning, compound lifts are essential—being the barbell/dumbbell bench press, deadlift and squat. Likewise, technique/form is essential; perfect your form, and the weight + mass will increase rapidly. Somethin…
