Gonna get downvoted to hell, but I'd answer yes. I know real life feminists, and most are sane and actually good people, who don't hate men. Not saying that extreme man hating nutty feminists don't exist, but they're actually pretty rare outside the shitshow we call the Internet.

In my experience (that's gonna be really unpopular here) these groups are mostly about whining and not at all about doing. Men's rights groups are more about complaining about feminists than actually doing anything. The responses here about Roe vs Wade were very telling. Men's rights groups are energized by antifeminism, not actual mens rights.

Male circumcision doesn't touch the lives of most Finns, so it's not something that comes up that much. The reason why FGM is on the table, is due to some quite nasty cases where immigrant girls have been mutilated or taken abroad to be mutilated, and that has risen some heat, so that has been handled. The point is that boys aren't circumcised that often, so it's not seen as something that needs stricter laws. Not arguing, I too think that a more gender neutral law would be a good thing. Just explaining why this is as it is. Edit: why the downvotes? I'm not saying that this is how it should be, just explaining the situation in Finland.

Male circumcision isn't at all common in Finland, so this is not as big an issue here. The reason for the bans on FGM is mostly related to immigrant women.

This is somewhat expected. We live in a culture where men are expected to always want sex. The female abusers in these cases don't perceive themselves as abusers for this reason, so there is a case to be made that abuse might come easier for women. They simply have none of the many social implications that penalize a man who would act in an abusive way.

Note that I didn't say patriarchy. I was very carefull to talk about partiarchal thinking and that is not a nebulous catch-all word. If you have better word to describe the idea of "man strong, woman weak" than patriarchal thinking, let me know. Until that, I'll keep using it. I see little point in reinventing new terms for things we already have terms for.

I agree on your three types of equality and I was actually talking about the equality of outcome here mostly. I fully agree that not all protective laws are bad, but in most western countries the real equality issues women had have been eliminated from the law. Due to this laws of equal opportunity are being put forward less and less and laws of outcome are much more prevalent.

We sometimes give good reasons to compare /r/mensrights to crap. There have been more than one thread with our numbers upvoting murder, assault and other nastyness. I remember (a now deleted) thread that had a good number of upvoted comments yelling for blood and downvotes for comments asking people to stop advocating violence. We really need to stop that.

When looking at the genetic side, races seem to vanish utterly. To simplify, he only sign of a race is that we find certain features that tend to go together, but calling them a race presents us with a problem: it doens't match our current "races" at all. For example, imagine an asian female, a person who looks asian. Now this imaginary asian woman looks asian but when we look at the genetic level, we find that she's closer to a europian than an asian. And you don't actually need to imagine this…

Any movie or piece of fiction can be interpreted as pretty much anything if you try hard enough. Reminds me of the South Park episode where the boys write a super-dirty novel with the sole purpose of being offensive - and people reading it start finding all sorts of things from the book.

About the pay gap: the problem isn't that men make more money because of choosing better paid careers - its a sad fact that some jobs pay better than others. The problem is that men make more money than women in the exact same position! This can be explained at least partially by the fact that statistically men work more hours and have less sick days.
