Assume Tiger didn't cheat on her - would choosing Chris Cline over Tiger Woods even be hypergamous in the first place? Maybe Tiger never had $2 billion, but he was certainly rich enough for that not to really matter. On top of that, Tiger is/was one of the most famous and recognizable people on the planet and he has the body of a professional athlete (yes, he's a golfer. But have you seen the guy up close?). I don't think Cline has a higher SMV, especially from a woman's perspective.

I usually go with some variant of "Yeah, I'm 5'9. If I were 6'2 do you think I'd be talking to you right now?"

Obviously there are exceptions, particularly as far as winter shoes are concerned. Generally speaking though, I think it's a reasonable guideline for someone who's clueless about shoes.

And if now you're left wondering what he means by "nice shoes", a recent post by u/ColdEiric resonated well with me: Imagine that you have good-looking, slightly more expensive shoes. Shoes which you care about as much as idiots care about their smartphones. Imagine that you dropped your smartphone in dirty water. It's ruined, isn't it? You need to get a new one, don't you? I agree, you do. Now imagine that you stepped in dirty water with the shoes you're wearing. Are your shoes ruined? Are you …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
