I've been here for 10+ years now, under one account or another. I stumbled across TRP and its affiliates in late high school. I grew up in a literal fundamentalist cult, and still had never experienced such blatant and rank misogyny before just out in the open. The manosphere now is fucking tame compared to the shit that was out there circa 2012. It shocked me, and I naively thought I could prove that women are rational humans just through debate. I quickly realized that RPers rarely argue in go…

This is so true. The mortgage, utilities, and car payment all get paid by me, because I'm the one who makes enough to cover them. If it's going to be a tight month, I'm the one who has to pick up OT because I'm the one who makes enough per hour for it to matter. And somehow it's still also my job to figure out dinner when I get home at 8 when he's been home on Steam since 4. Or even worse, when he's had multiple days off in a row while I've been grinding back to back 12 hour shifts and the house…

LOL @ Anglo society being more matriarchal than Scandinavian, where women have a longer history of economic parity with men than anywhere else in Europe.

So if contributing to society is Just For Men tm does that mean I get all my taxes back? Or does that mean I'm secretly a man because I pay taxes, serve my community via volunteering, and risked my health by working 72 hour weeks in a COVID ICU? Were all my CPR saves over my career actually performed by a man and I just hallucinated them? What about all the animals I've brought in from the streets, did a man do that for me? Just a carnival prize wondering what it must be like to contribute to so…

As someone relatively in to a well-kept dadbod, I wouldn't say a single one of those dudes is an example. Almost every single one has been, or still is, a sex icon... two Bonds, the Hof, nary an unworked bicep or trap in sight. The only difference is that working different muscle groups is in fashion right now as apposed to then. I don't think anyone would disagree that they are all incredibly fit.

So as long as the group doesn't have a charter that explicitly says "no girls allowed," I'm good to go then? Because I ain't leaving my gaming group or my skeet group.

If you asked me a year and a half ago, I would've said yes. Now, not so much. I tore my labrum at work, dealt with complex traumatic stress from watching Covid patients die in front of me every day for 2 years, ran the farm alone while my husband was deployed, and turned to wine and junk food to cope for a bit, and that took its toll to the tune of 35 lbs. It's humiliating, frankly. I only wear sweats and leggings from Walmart and Goodwill now because I couldn't justify buying nice new clothes w…

This. When I got married I was a 140 lb gym bunny. Last year I severely injured my back and shoulder at work, and over that year put on about 35 lbs. It's something I'm deeply insecure about, and while I trust my husband I still sometimes get scared that he won't find me attractive anymore and such. I'm back on track, slowly losing the weight, but it's eroded my confidence.

No way. Luckily I already found a wonderful, supportive, kind, funny (albeit flatulent) man and married him. Now that I've had a taste of true partnership nothing could convince me to regress into being with a guy who thought I was the "oldest teenager in the room" or felt the need to "shit test." It would be like eating stale McDonald's after having an incredible gourmet feast.

Dumb. It's all our money. My husband and I have taken turns being the bigger earner- it used to be him, right now it's me, and once we start having kids in a few years it'll probably be him again since I'd likely go part-time at my job when they are little if we can afford it. Plus a joint account just makes it so much easier to be on the same page about finances and budgeting. It doesn't matter who contributes what % as long as our needs are met. The social media aspect is definitely huge. My 14 year old niece has a killer makeup routine and looks like a damn model 24/7, with a fully adult-looking wardrobe, wearing adult heels, carrying an adult bag, with an adult hairstyle. She learns it all from tiktokers like Brad Mondo and Nikkie. When I was her age in the mid aughts, I didn't know anything better than sillybandz, Harry Potter and Kingdom Hearts fandom gear from hot topic, the uggs that all the other teens in my town had, and layered…

12 hour shifts here, so that's three days a week at work unless I pick up OT. On a regular workday I spend about 15 minutes in the morning washing my face and putting my hair into a braid or bun. No makeup because why would I even, and I just grab whatever scrubs are on top of the clean pile. 20 minute shower after shift. I might redo my braid on my lunch break if I'm looking rough, so throw in 5 mins. So that comes out to about 40 mins each workday x3 = 120 mins. Days off are harder to quantify…

Snooping is a no-no. But so is being weirdly secretive. My husband and I know the passwords for each other's everything, more out of convenience than anything else. I don't ever snoop for the purpose of snooping (and I doubt he does the same to me), but we do go into each other's emails to find pertinent things, or photos to find that one ridiculous meme from 6 months ago we just remembered, etc.

It's not something the majority of men do, but it's enough that I'm wary about how friendly I am with a guy if I'm alone. For example- I'm a pretty easy-going girl, I'm not exactly an extrovert but years in customer service and healthcare has taught me how to have a conversation with anyone. I hike a lot with my dog, so that naturally opens up conversations with other hikers. A few weeks ago I was out enjoying myself, and a guy approached to pet my dog. I chatted with him briefly and then headed…

Is it really that hard to believe that women like and want sex? Sure there's a wide range of libidos, but women aren't categorically not wanting to do it.

Married millennial woman here- besides the church sanctioned intimacy and difficult to quantify "feelings" benefit (like devotion to unity, companionship, becoming part of each other's families) there's been a few great practical benefits from being married. Not at all an atheist. My leftist leanings include socialist economic views (Luke 12:33, 1 John 3:17, Acts 4:34-35), strongly held social justice beliefs (Micah 6:8, Gal. 3:28), and environmental concerns (Gen. 2:15, Rev 11:8). The only major non left hill I die on is pro-life, but to me the American "Pro-Life" movement is a disgraceful abomination and I refuse to put myself in that camp or let that dictate my ballot. Pro-Life means all life, so access to healthcare, parental leave, subsidized c…

I might be heavily tattooed, rocking an undercut at the moment, and sporting 7 piercings, but DEFINITELY not a liberal. My husband has glorious golden hair that he used to keep in flowing trusses cascading to his shoulders before joining the military. It's still great though, and one of my favorite features on him, but I know I'd still find him attractive if he went bald because I've seen him bald with a freshly shaven head. It kind of shocked me at first because I was used to him with long braidable hair, but after blinking a few times I was still just as ready to get it on. If he started balding, I'd want him t…

Not much. Now it's true I grew up in an insular homeschool cult and then attended a strict Evangelical college, lived in the Middle East for a while, and then almost became a literal nun before marrying young, so that might be skewing my sample a bit, but in my little orbit I only know like one or two chicks my age who talk about or exhibit the behaviors of hooking up with people. I'm very content with my life. Situationally things suck right now because my husband is deployed, but he'll be back soon enough. Mine was extroverted (50), emotional stability (62), agreeableness (51), conscientious (9), and intellect (91). I just about spat out my coffee over the emotional stability and extroversion being so high, but the conscientious score is right on the money, I'm about as scatterbrained as they come. I've seen a man be gunned down in front of me, been shot at myself in the deserts of Palestine by the IDF, woken up to my apartment on fire, watched an aortic aneurysm burst in real-time in an open chest (which was then closed by a female CT surgeon), worked untold amount of code-blues, and sailed into a water spout in a sunfish, which was honestly the scariest situation of them all. I absolutely do not think my two best guy friends want to, that's too weird for me to even fathom since one is happily married to someone who looks nothing like me and the other is probably gay but just super deep in the closet. I've never been romantically involved with either. Other guy friends in the past, maybe, but I usually didn't think about it. I've never gone out looking specifically for male friends, it's just happened that I have a lot of them. I didn't mean to detract from LPNs- merely point out that the job market ain't so great these days.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/21 05:38 PM
1

Nah. Unless they're working in an area with a massive RN shortage, the vast majority of LPN jobs are in nursing homes and maybe the odd urgent care clinic or family practice (though MAs are replacing them). That's not to diss on LPNs, I've met some phenomenal ones in my time, but the reality is that hospital LPN roles are extremely rare and most jobs are gonna be shitty.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/21 05:13 PM

Because typically they don't get cool nurse jobs like working in an OR or trauma unit. Except for the most RN-strapped areas, they have two choices: shitty nursing home, or cheap urgent care clinic. The hospital I used to work in had a few dinosaur LPNs doing bedside from ye olden days, but eventually they just turned them into either unit secretaries or CNAs. The military is the only major of employer of LPNs for clinical in-hospital roles, and even then they just function as an appendage of th…

The best first date I went on was with my husband. We met up at a warm, dim cozy irish pub in Chicago under the premise of just a quick beer, but ended up sitting at the bar talking until closing time. We talked about everything and anything, but mostly about how cool it would be to raise bison on the prairie and domesticate a bobcat. We split the tab. It was snowing softly, and I didn't feel comfortable driving with a few beers in my system so he walked me a mile home and made sure I got inside…

Eh, no. That's so weird. I actually like being around my husband. Twice the expense and twice the upkeep sounds like a nightmare as well. That said I feel having your own space is important, when we lived in a cramped 1 bedroom apartment I really craved it. Now we have enough room for me to have a craft room and him to have a shop shed. I could even spring for separate bedrooms someday to cut down on the snoring issue, but still in the same house.

Yeah, it's all about the situation. Two of my best ride-or-die friendships are with dudes, and having previously worked in a primarily male industry (until I became a nurse that is), most of my work pals were dudes. I'm married, my husband doesn't mind BECAUSE I maintain appropriate boundaries. I'd never have one of those guys over, or go over their places without my husband or a group. Optics matter. Guns aren't a great example. I think a lot of women are just afraid of guns, especially if they've never handled one before. And I'm saying this as a female who owns multiple firearms and occasionally carries concealed. I was terrified of guns until I trained on them, and my mom was as well until I bought her a gun, taught her how to break it down, clean it, fire it. Some probably yes, some probably say that but with conditions, some say it and might not mean it, some might think they mean it... people have different priorities. I for one outearn my husband almost 2:1 at the moment, and I'm not exactly raking it in, either. When we met he was essentially penniless and I didn't GAF. But we are both OK with living simply and don't live a super materialist life. As long as our basic needs are met and there's something in savings for an emergency, I'm happy.

Yeah they have to actually care for the long hair. When I was in college, there was a trend among the football and basketball players to grow out their hair, but they must've still been using their old spice 3-in-1 because they all looked stringy and nasty. My husband had glorious shoulder length hair when we met, the difference was he actually used nice conditioner and a brush.

When my husband had to buzz cut his long blond hair for the military I actually cried. Developmental psychologists these days are positing that the stage of Young Adulthood (defined by marriage, beginning a stable career, financial independence, blah blah) shouldn't come after adolescence anymore, and that a new stage of "emerging adulthood" should fill the gap. Traditional wife checking in: no way in heck would I be doing all the from-scratch cooking, sewing, canning, fermenting, cleaning, and laundry, and fire feeding that I do if my husband wasn't also maintaining our house, cars, guns, woodpile, and plumbing. If he gets to outsource skills, I should be able to as well.

Of course. There's the age-old phenomena of going on a date with someone you think is nice and charming, but it turns out he's a massive creep. Outcomes range from mild discomfort to date rape and assault. It happened to me, it can happen to anyone.

I mean yeah, someone could be a titan of morality, but if he had a boring personality, I wouldn't be all that interested. Of course I'd rather hang out with the exciting rogue than a dreadfully boring lawful good paladin, but character and personality are not mutually exclusive at the end of the day either.

We both have. My husband grew up homeschooled on a small farm in rural IL. I only spent summers on my grandparents' farm, but did some off-grid stuff in the Middle East for a while after college.

eh it's not so bad. My husband and I have a lot of hobbies in common, and it's what got us talking to each other in the first place. But he's got other hobbies, and it's the least I can do to let him tell me about his Tarkov game over dinner or wax on about the virtues of a tenor banjo vs. a long-neck banjo. God knows he hears me rant about yarn too much.

I think it depends on if they had a longstanding friendship before the guy asks her out. Losing a friendship hurts. I've had it happen where someone whom I thought was a good close friend suddenly ghosted me after I said I wouldn't date. Years of support and good times suddenly meant nothing. It was like losing a relationship with one of my blood brothers. It was shitty. I understand needing some space or not being so close after a rejection, but he just straight up pretended I no longer existed…

I want to settle down on an off-grid farm in the middle of nowhere, crank out a few kids, have a bunch of chickens and a cow or two, start producing my own yarn. That's about it. Maybe go back for a Masters' at some point but also maybe not. I've already found and married the man I want to grow old and do all that stuff with. We haven't had any children yet, but they're an eventuality since our birth control method is just a calendar and a pencil. My only sex goal is not letting future children …

Normal women don't agonize over their market value, geez. We just go and live our lives, and then date people we hit it off with. It's honestly heckin weird how much you guys overanalyze people getting into relationships like you're trying to shortsell Wework or some shit. Some people are more self-aware than others as far as knowing their "League."

Let's be honest, "debate" is a little bit too cerebral of a word for what actually goes on here.

For real though, I love the FAM life. My husband and I hated it at first (because, you know, initially it meant less sex) but now we have even more sex and it's better sex. No hormones, no copays, no side effects. Just a calendar and LH strips.

Damn, some of you have never experienced a massive traumatic event and it shows. If you survived a ship sinking when literal thousands of people died including your romantic interest, you're gonna hold on to that. I still get flashbacks from MCIs I've worked, and probably always will.

I like it when my husband calls me "mine" because I am his wife. I call him mine because he's MY husband. But if he ever says it in a property-ownership way and starts bossing me around like a piece of chattel, well, he better make sure that couch is comfy.

For me, my personal goals included someday having children and building a homestead empire from the ground up, which would be hard alone. I also am a religious person so that factors in as well, but even without that on the table I like the idea of doing life as a team and facing obstacles as they come together. ETA: as far as "dating down" goes- I don't think that's always a fair descriptor. By PPD's definition, I married "down" because I have two degrees and my husband is a high school dropo…

It depends on the guy, honestly. I approached my husband and...now he's my husband. Meanwhile my best friend (who is a total BABE) approached a few guys after working up the courage and got feedback that they preferred to ask people out themselves. She's now getting married to a guy she met on a dating app that has the female reach out first.

I would wonder where I went wrong. He would still be my son but I'd be disgusted by his behavior. I hope my husband and I can be better role models to our future children so they can see why the notion of buying and selling sex is gross.

25F married to 25M. Only married a few months but together 4 years. Extraordinarily happy, but again we literally just got back from our honeymoon. Fame? Oh fuck that. We are both deeply private people, to the extent that we live in the middle of nowhere by choice and are trying to go even more remote. It would be a strain, but judging by how fleeting media attention is, I'm sure we could escape the public eye eventually and get back to our quiet lives. Money would be nice, we could finally buy …

As another poster has mentioned, if MGTOW was simply just men going their own way, then yeah, go ahead. Get fit, find your inner self, stop valuing yourself based off of women and what they think of you. But sadly, that's just not what MGTOW is. They claim they are going their own way, but take every opportunity to bash women, degrade them, and spread some really toxic shit online. Men who truly go their own way just *go* without feeling the need to whine about it. I like to think of my uncle as…

EMT and student nurse, in a few weeks I'll be a real nurse. Perfect fucking timing, amirite? My dream would be running an off-grid homestead with my husband, specifically producing specialty meats and fiber animals (alpacas).

So what? The fact she has a tall boyfriend doesn't make her a hypocrite necessarily. I have a tall SO, but I never exclusively dated tall men. My long time ex was only two inches taller than me, and I'm short as hell.

Not much different, we're both essential medical personnel so our routines are largely the same. We both bring home more stress from work than usual these days, but we are figuring it out as a team.

I only can speak for the sample size of my facebook friends and IRL acquaintances, but that's what I'm seeing. I will say that the majority of my friends are gainfully employed (most in healthcare like myself) or SAHMs who were formerly gainfully employed and put their career on pause to raise kids as their husbands' incomes allow. But it's still what I'm seeing. Also knitting is really fun.

For me, the vows I will say at my upcoming wedding are a solemn oath before God that I will love, respect, and cherish my husband as long as we both shall live. No redos. Unless there is abuse or we enter into this with bad faith, too bad, that's it. So I have a pretty high impetus to not screw this up. My goal is to not ever fall out of love by building a strong foundation in the first place.

Women are damned if they do, damned if they don't on this sub. I thought loyalty was a sticking point for the red pill types, but somehow staying loyal to someone despite distance is bluepilling them? Yikes.

Same. I met my fiance a few months before I had to move across the country. I'm so glad we stayed in touch, I couldn't imagine being with anyone else but him. It took over a year for him to be able to move closer, but it was so worth it. Technically we are long distance again as he's completing some military training, but this time with a sure light at the end of the tunnel that makes it so much easier than before. LDRs don't have to be a relationship death sentence if both parties have the righ…

Bizarre. My fiance and I used to be long distance, and there have been a few times when one or the other of us has fallen asleep on the line on late night calls, so we just hung up instead of being freaks who listen eagerly to the other sawing logs. Ew.

Yep, the irony is not lost on us. I'm just glad that our obnoxious social butterfly friends won the battle there for once.

I mean, I met my fiance by being antisocial. We both were dragged to a party we didn't want to go to, and both ended up sitting outside on the front steps of the house at the same time for a "smoke break" to hide from everyone else. I struck up a conversation with him about his jacket to break the silence, and the rest is history.

Alright, instantly is a bit of a hyperbole, but within a few weeks I knew I was going to be dating him with the intention of marrying instead of just dating to date. We had a lot of absurd things in common, and I could tell he was a good man with congruent views on things. We came from similar homeschool cults so we had a reference point for each others' baggage, had similar unconventional life goals that aligned well. Distance was the original challenge but we worked that out.

I'm 24 and engaged; by the time the wedding rolls around we will both be 25. Having grown up in a fundamentalist evangelical environment, there was a cultural expectation for me to marry even younger than this, but I was never in a rush. 25 always sounded about right to me, and the cards just kind of fell into place. I met my fiance at 22 and instantly knew he was the one.

It depends. He's helped me through some minor struggle times, I've helped him through minor struggle times, and a few times, we struggled together, but the effort to overcome was always there. We've never had to weather anything earth-shattering though. So hypothetically speaking, if counseling is a viable option, I'm willing to make it happen. But if time has elapsed and he refuses to put the effort in, or if drugs or abuse entered the equation, then... well, I just hope that's not on the horiz…

Yeah drugs are a dealbreaker for me. I've stood with my SO through some rough times and he's stood by me, but drugs... I mean, if future me became addicted to something like heroin or meth, present me hopes he'd leave before I drag him down. And likewise, if he decided to pick up the needle or methpipe, honestly I don't think I'd stay for long if rehab doesn't happen soon.

Oh man, calm down. I personally only wear make-up on special occasions like fancy date night or holiday parties, but I have nothing against women who do it daily. In fact, it shows they are willing to put in the effort to be presentable and well groomed, whereas I can't be bothered to get out of bed 10 minutes earlier to do anything more than brush my teeth and half-assedly put my hair up in a bun. More power to them.

It's super fucked up IMO, any assault is, but people treat news as entertainment all the time. Just think about any Floridaman discussion you've ever seen- we laugh, but it's almost always super tragic.

My high value man is handsome, smart, industrious, shares the same critical philosophical values and religion that I do, values monogamy, and is kind. We waited over a year for sex. It's not a deciding factor for me, but it's great when you have it. Like I dated men in the past who weren't fighters or in top physical shape (ie, skinnyfat) and it didn't turn me off or make me feel unsafe, but now that I'm with someone who absolutely could protect me if shit hits the fan, it's kind of great. There was one time when he protected me in a sketchy situation and it changed my perspective a bit. Now whenever he's away with the military and it's just me at home, I feel less secure, …

Traveled alone in the Middle East. Yeah, I was there studying and researching with other Americans at the time, but I hitch-hiked alone a few times between smaller cities in Jordan, which in retrospect was rather dangerous... though I always felt safer there than I did on some of my solo urban exploration adventures in Chicago. Besides that, I generally solo camp once or twice a year in a hammock, and used to pick up single-man flycar shifts when I was an EMT which had me going into emergencies …

I've never met a boyfriend or potential romantic prospect through a dating app or from a cold encounter without at least one acquaintance in common. My exes (not that I have many) were people I met from class or work, or was introduced to by a friend. I met my current SO at a party being thrown by mutual friends, and now we're set to get married next summer. For reference, I'm 25.

Hey, thanks so much for the advice! We probably still have at least another year of jumping through military hoops before we can grab a permanent homestead spot, but I'm starting the research now and people can be so uppity about it. My SO raised a meat steer every year growing up, so it isn't completely uncharted territory, but dairy is a whole new thing. If we do get around to it, I'll be in your PMs :)

If someone says they endorse the Red Pill, I can only assume that they have automatically written me off as a solipsistic succubus with the mental capacity of a child, who lives a two dimensional existence scanning for some poor rube to shackle down so she can finally get off the genital-go-round, quit the labor force, and gain 50 lbs immediately. Of course I'm not gonna be thrilled to hear it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/11/19 07:31 PM

It really is. It was hard for me to find a guy whom I could trust for these things, too.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/19 04:42 PM

I did notice it, yes. I know it's a TRP truism that women cease to work the moment they con a man into being with her, but the fact is that 72% of women over 25 with a bachelor's degree or higher are labor force participants. It's a lot easier to split the bills than hacking it on your own. Perhaps not a key motivator of finding a relationship, but it does shape decisions about cohabitation.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/19 04:41 PM
7

The same thing that a man could add to hers- companionship, a battle buddy for when shit gets overwhelming, stability, another set of hands around the place, a second income. Of course if a guy is happy without those things, then good for him, he's not obligated to find a relationship if he doesn't want to.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/19 04:35 AM

Of course I'm building a career, ffs this isn't 1850. I couldn't imagine being so vapid and passionless about anything that I wouldn't explore any of the many meaningful and interesting vocations that exist. I found a field that I love, so of course I'm going to pursue it and make money along the way. On a purely financial level, it's also silly- most guys in this age range are just as broke as I am, so good luck finding your ticket out, as it were. It simply cannot exist for most people. And he…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/19 02:57 AM

Only if he's a) dishonest about our finances (ie, never told me he lost his job and pretended to go to work, giving me no heads up to budget differently), or b) REFUSES to try and fix the situation (ie, refusing to attempt finding a new job, refusing to keep buying expensive widgets to the point of us not being able to make rent). Shit happens, and I said "for rich or poor" and meant it, so it would have to be an extraordinary case.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/19 02:46 AM

I wouldn't ever want to be the sole breadwinner permanently, but I'm ok with a temporary situation like that. For example, I'm in school right now and working part time while my SO works full time, but when I graduate those roles are going to switch so he can finally cash in on his GI bill and go to college. Housework gets done when possible by both of us though.

Simultaneously hilarious and insulting. Some of the thought processes I see laid out *MIGHT* have rung somewhat true for me when I was 16 or so, but as an adult woman the classic TRP picture of a solipsistic childbrain scanning the SMV for her beta bux looks like a grotesque caricature.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/19 11:31 PM

Low stakes hanging out for coffee or a beer first, then nicer stuff if that goes well. Then again, my first date with my current SO was an Ash Wednesday Mass complete with surprise choir practice, then our second date was the shooting range, so YMMV.
