I re-read your post and realized that I forgot to relate the “car seat fight” situation that was identical in my case: before the divorce my kids would fight for the seat next to me. During these court-appointed visitations that I tried to have with them, they would try to sit right behind me, so I couldn’t really interact with them. How come there is so much identical behavior? As an alienated dad, I experienced most of what you mention of your dad's plight: courts, trying to get through to my kids, court-appointed counseling, my kids saying that they would like to have a dad - just not me. The rejection of my parents. Ex telling the kids how I love my son, but don't care about my daughter.
