I actually just broke up with a LTR for the same reason. It hurt a lot afterwards for about a week, but I'm doing a lot better now. No regrets.

Thanks OP, just recently got over a breakup with a girl who was alcoholic and came from a family of alcoholics. I tried to encourage her to change, but it was futile. After a tense visit to the ER, I decided to call the relationship off because I didn't want to be dragged down.
