Oh I completely agree. And those aren't even called the same things, legally - one is rape and one is statutory rape. I was referring mostly to the difference between things like date rape, spousal rape, crazy serial rapist rape, etc. And I'm not saying what I believe about that those differences way or another - I was just saying what other people might think.

I've been following this recent iteration of this discussion on reddit, and this is EXACTLY the thing that I'm confused about. Maybe the "dress impacts rape occurrence" thing is wrong. Who am I to say? I haven't done research on the subject. But regardless of whether it is or not, how is being wrong about this sexist? Or is that even what the problem is here? The thing I'm concerned with is whether THEY think of me as creepy, not whether I think of myself as such. All fair points, though. Thanks for the insight.

This makes me so fucking mad. Not so much the fact that the boy was arrested and not the girl (though that does seriously suck), but the fact that consensual sex between a 14 and 15 year old is a crime. This is outrageous. It's this sort of crap that makes me ashamed to live in the US.
