If you said to me that you were raped by a feminist, I feel the comment “too many feminist are rapist” or even “that happens way too often” or better yet “I hate that that happened to you” are far better responses than “not all feminists”. I guess that’s my point. I could have easily said to you “Not all feminists hate men”. Would that have added anything to the discussion?

I have a challenge for you. The next time you feel like it would be appropriate to say “not all men” to show that you are separate for the bad actors, instead say “too many men”. This draws a line of separation while not offering a counter argument.

Once again you speak in generalizations, copying the behavior you abhor.

Thank you for the well thought out reply. The fact that some feminists hate all men is a valid point. Also, this is a “some of them” issue. Not all of them.

I did read that. And it seemed to have a bunch of ideas about how to help lonely men be or feel less lonely. At best it’s a misguided attempt to actually help and at worst, it’s victim blaming. I didn’t read it as hate though.

Can you give examples of feminists hating lonely men?

As a woman, I can tell you through my teenage years, I thought of nothing else.

Can I ask a few counter questions? What do you think of a man who cries? What do you think of a man who is submissive and prefers the woman to be dominant?

I would argue that any gender is more “determined”. I would argue that suicide by medication/drug overdose has a much lower success rate and that this is the method usually chosen by women. I called the one man determined because he chose to use 2 methods at the same time. Edit - wouldn’t argue that any gender is more determined

So, I am a paramedic and have responded to multiple suicide attempts/successes. I am not sure what the original person was trying to say, but what I can tell you is that the majority of suicide attempts I have responded to are done by women. The most common attempt method is by medication overdose. I have never been to a immediately successful meditation overdose suicide attempt (some did die weeks later due to organ damage). The majority of suicide successes that I have been to are men. These a…

Someone who will not compromise is not partner material. Remember the women you have dated are young and inexperienced too. It takes some people years to learn how to be a good partner. If you told these people how one-sides their behavior was and they refused to change, the its time to move on. Keep in mind, these kind of conversations pop up in long time relationships ALL the time. I’ve been with my husband over 20 years and we still sometimes have to revisit “I feel X when you do Y” conversat…

I know you will hate to hear this. You are very young. Finding a life partner can take a lot of time. I met my husband when I was 24 and he was 27. Also, lots of people have said “I found them when I quit looking.” They view this as irony but I think it has more to do with your frame of mind. When you are looking for a partner you are much more critical than when you are looking for a friend. I think that very criticalness can get in the way of getting to know someone. Maybe try to not look for …

So I still consider myself a feminist even though I don’t share the views of everyone who claims to be a feminist. I managed to never be brainwashed and keep my critical thinking skills. I believe patriarchal thinking and practices still exist, so I do what I can to illuminate them when I find them. I really think that is what is still the problem is latent misogynistic thought patterns that we don’t even realize we still have, more than institutionalized patriarchy. I certainly don’t mind when …

I always like to swap genders in a story to see if there’s an issue. Replace women with men in your story and see if it sounds like a bad thing. Or maybe race.

Are you certain? I work at a firehouse that is designed a safe haven and we were never told that men could not relinquish children.

I have to say this is a good argument. I had terrible periods, but since I didn’t have anything to compare it to, I just figured it was normal. Everyone thinks their periods are terrible. And since I didn’t have children and the Gynocologist exam is the opposite of fun, I never went. Finally, after one particularly bad period I thought “This can’t be normal”. I mean, I was over 40. Periods are supposed to diminish not get worse with age. Turns out that I did have not 1 but 2 serious issues and t…
