Hey, anytime. I hope you find someone good out there who doesn’t use excuses and doesn’t cheat on you. Good luck in your future!

I see from your post history that this is a recent occurrence for you and I’m really sorry that happened to you. She’s not being fair to you and I think you both could do with someone to really talk with about how that’s affected you. I hope you can both heal from what’s happened.

As someone who has been through this trauma and worked through it, has helped girls in counseling also work through it, I’m saying from experience that this mentality they will cheat because of what’s happened is harmful to everyone involved. I realize that from your perspective you may only have some article someone wrote, and also you have your previous experience. I’m simply saying that doesn’t apply to all girls who have been through this. I’d be resistant to thinking it’s even “more likely”…

I definitely do not mean that sexual trauma justifies cheating and didn’t even address that in my comment. I’m strictly saying that someone who has been through that will remember that person as another notch on the “body count” and that isn’t fair, and it certainly isn’t the most efficient way to find out what you really want to know, which is “does this girl go through sexual partners like they’re nothing?” The fact you instantly interpret this as though someone who has that trauma will instan…

Just putting this out there, asking body count is probably the most offensive way of finding out what you want to know. If you want to know if the girl goes out to find a new sexual partner every weekend, just ask her. Asking for a body count will absolutely discount the girls who have been through sexual trauma, which can raise extremely unpleasant feelings and responses. There are kinder and less invasive ways of asking about her habits.

Yeah I always am ready to pay for myself. The cash idea is a good one - I’m used to having a card all the time because my phone case holds it. I’ll start keeping cash in my pocket for if it happens again.

I mean, that’s definitely true sometimes, but it happens frequently and feels super shitty. I don’t mind paying my half or even paying for a guy if I like him, but I don’t want to be corralled into a place I don’t want to go or don’t like and have it sprung on me that I’m paying for all of it.

This never ends up working out well. As a female, I’ve had guys do this on date 2, but let’s talk about what happens leading up to the date every time. Guy: “I want to take you somewhere nice.” Me: “Well that’s kind of you! Where did you have in mind?” Guy: somewhere expensive that I’ve never been to OR somewhere I specify that don’t like to go to, but “it’s more romantic.” Me: “that does sound nice, although we could also do cheaper option so I can pay if needed/date doesn’t go well/he “forgets…

Yeahhh don't do this. Dating girls who've explicitly said they want boyfriends - when you know that isn't what you want - makes you a complete asshole. You're disrespecting their clearly-set boundaries.

I'm glad to hear this! Guys do this stuff all the time too and it's super frustrating. I've also been chewed out for not wanting to "hang out" with guys who "aren't ready to date" when we met on a dating site. Super glad to hear you know what you're looking for and aren't willing to accept less!

She may not be able to answer the calls if she's at work or explains she was in the middle of something. She also may be shy and hate phone calls (in that case, maybe even a video chat would be better because you can actually see the other person). Ask if she'd like to do that, if she says yes then ask when is good for her. That may not sound assertive but there's a fine line between being assertive and being rudely inconsiderate. If she has any mode of transportation, she can come to you. I'm g…

I think that depends on a lot of things - mostly where you stand. Did you like her enough to do that again? Do you see a possible future with her? Is she only temporarily without a car or does she not know how to drive? Is the answer to that last question a deal breaker for you? Guys rarely seem to have any standards about the girl other than that she doesn't look too much like a troll and has a vagina. It's most attractive when you know what other qualities you want to see and you go straight f…

I've gotta say I think this applies to a lot of pickmeishas too, though. Like, women who are army wives want to be called by their husbands' ranks even though they didn't do the work to earn it, or girls who act like they can do anything they want because "my daddy is an xyz" or their husband/boyfriend "plays golf with someone higher-up" etc. This is a crappy behavior, but I just don't think this one is localized to men.

I actually love it when they say this - it beats getting involved with someone with that mindset and finding out 2 years down the road they still just want to be sex buddies. If this is their approach to relationships, I want to know up front.

May be more likely, but still common occurrence that violence happens with no prior relationship. I'm glad you were okay but I hope you're a bit more careful these days, sis.

Yeah you're welcome! Some people are late bloomers and she may just not be in a place to understand dating doesn't have to be a life commitment - that desire is a thing that grows, not something that you always know right off the bat. Good luck OP! Even if you wanna think about it or feel it out some more, you could invite her to do direct things to get a better idea of who she is. Be specific. Grab coffee at x time on x day, go for late night pancakes after x, whatever you'd want to do on your …

What do you like about her? If she really is special to you because she's unique, evaluate her other qualities. From this post you've stated she ghosts everyone. It's very possible she will do this to you as well regardless of your feelings and hers. Are you okay with that? (No one is judging you if you are ok with it, but awareness will help you cope if it happens, so it's important to know your thoughts and feelings about it beforehand. Gonna hurt, btw.) She's shy. So, she's probably not ever …

Mostly, though, it's protection. Every guy I know has been appalled at some of the behaviors other men exhibit when they're alone with a woman. No one wants to be threatened or harmed. If you stutter around, my instinct isn't to think I'm so hot that you just can't find your words. Maybe it's true, but it's also possible you have a social disorder and won't understand boundaries when I state them. That may sound like an extreme jump to a man, but for women, we constantly have to be aware of some…

Wouldn't that be 100%, tho? So like... are they saying the guy should pay 100% of the bills because he makes twice as much as her?

You know what... it just dawned on me that a similar thing happening to me happened to Elle!! Omfg I went on a first date with a guy who got upset I had stopped at my boss's house that week to take him dinner (58m, had fallen and broken his arm and sprained both ankles, also he's my neighbor so it was convenient to help). Guy said "if you're going to be stopping at his house all the time, this isn't going to work. In fact I'm kinda jealous he can hire a hot young secretary." (I'm 33, overweight,…

I never claimed to speak for all females, you're entitled to your opinion, which is valid. I only claimed that I am one so "all women want" statements may be false, which in this case, they were objectively incorrect.

Your statements were blanket statements of "women want." So it does matter that I'm a female, because me (a female) not wanting the things you say women want means you're wrong. Regarding the third point, you mentioned wanting rougher/doggy style sex but that "women don't want that from (their partner)." I'm trying to say that you have to articulate more than just "hey, woman, I like sex, do you?" Being specific will help you get more of what you want. You are right in that finding out whether o…

As a female, I mostly agree with your first point. (Assuming that there is at least some chemistry, that the girl wasn't raised conservatively [this is an important part], and also that the guy isn't ugly as sin.) Your second point is objectively false. None of the ladies in my social circle entertain dating someone they don't see themselves being or becoming passionately in love with. That's the life we seek, so there will be nothing to fantasize about "from the good old days." And your next po…

If you're wanting a relationship that lasts a few months and is fun, it's probably fine. As someone who's dated several guys from varying ethnicities, I've got to say the approach to relationships is totally different around the world. Once you start getting into deeper things you want or need to talk about, it becomes difficult for adequate communication to take place. You are right to be concerned about this - even people who speak another language very well often have trouble understanding de…

I think her super religious background has everything to do with the kiss denial. She's not ready and probably doesn't want to be made to feel like a hoe if things don't work out. Families put a lot of pressure on girls to get married and not put out for flings. If you like her, please just be patient. If you don't like her, move on. Source: grew up in a super religious/conservative family.

Sounds like she never found someone she wanted to have kids with. That's a big part of it and maybe her standards were high, but didn't pan out.
