I don't necessarily think snapping at him would help him find a job.

I agree with many of your points. I think he knows that he isn't pulling his weight and is definitely embarrassed. Do you have any suggestions for me to help change his behavior?

I don't necessarily think that she should've gone off the drug; however if she was consistently turning you down, I think it would've been a good thing to inform you of.

I honestly wouldn't worry about that. Health is totally more important. At a healthy bmi (if you aren't at one already), you'd be far ore attractive than someone who isn't healthy but has large breasts.

Women tend to work men up to the point where they can deny sex to prove that her man needs her more than she needs him. However, I think you handed her perfectly, the power to be generous swings both ways.

Thank you for your outlook. It must be difficult to be away and not being able to offer physical support. How do you manage to stay connected with him? My love language is touch, so I can't even imagine how sad I would be without my SO in the same location. Are there any core pieces of behavior that you think could help me in this situation? I'd love to read the book as well, but I'm trying to implement some things this week in particular.

Woah. That's amazing that she didn't have an honest conversation with you about it. Had she been taking it before you started seeing her?

This comment is right on the money. Sex is an act of healing for a relationship, any decision to hinder the act is a direct blow to the man. It's easy to say "I'm not in the mood" without realizing the repercussion of it. I'd advise any woman to think of a way to pleasure your SO rather than outright rejection.

I'm glad to have something to contribute! The article I linked is from a women's perspective, and it includes some gems (like this one below) about the benefits for women as well. There is no substitute for sexual intercourse. "Self-pleasuring and other substitutes didn’t offer the blood pressure–leveling punch of actually doing it. For women, sexual intercourse triggered key nerves in the vagina and cervix, was psychologically satisfying and released calming hormones in the brain, more so than …

Honestly, I don't think most women need them. Men love breasts, period. And it's a huge investment that needs to be maintained on a regular basis. I think having a proper BMI and good hair/skin are far more important than cup size because they show you are a healthy mate.

Agreed, I think that clean white teeth are a sure sign of health. And a bright smile is worth more than you could ever communicate through words.

This is an excellent piece. And it is incredibly relevant to my relationship with my SO. I think women don't notice the power of sex as a release for men. My SO has been going through a rough time; when I am available sexually for him, his mood lightens and it eases his stress. Sex is an excellent tool for reducing stress (http://www.nbcnews.com/id/28146086/ns/health-mental_health/t/more-sex-less-stress/). As far as being available for him, there are times when I'm as eager to engage. Instead of…

I love the non-zero concept! That's such a great way of working through difficult things; I'm definitely going to try that :)

We had a long chat about it this morning. I hadn't really told him before that he was hurting me, and the look on his face when I told him what was happening broke my heart. He definitely wants to keep me safe and protect me, so the idea that he was the one causing me pain made him quite sad. And he promised to heck in with me more often before initiating. Thank you for the advice, I'll still be seeking ways to improve his mood :)

I most recently got my SO three short books for his birthday. One of the authors had been interviewed on his favorite podcast, and the other two were books that I had heard him mention interest in. You know your SO better than anyone else, think about what he enjoys and seek a gift in that area. I know my SO was overjoyed with the fact that I simply had remembered the books he wanted. Gifts can show a lot of different traits, mine showed that I truly listened to him. I'm positive that you can do…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
