Saw this all the time back when I was in Uni. Girls would become "Friends" with the smartest guys in the class and use them to improve their own grades - either by working with them in group projects or studying with them. I would laugh whenever my roommate would brag about how he was in a group with a bunch of hot girls. "Have fun doing all the work!" I would think to myself.

One thing you have to remember is that it's not as if she went on 77 blind dates... these were all guys she "pre-screened" to some extent. Looks good? check. Tall? Check. Appears to have money? check. "Ok, let's meet this guy for coffee".
