However in a legal sense there's definitely a problem when identical behaviors elicit grossly disparate responses depending on the subjective feelings of the individual. No. Men are just more likely to be arrested and charged. Women are just as violent, they are just more risk-averse, so they tend to use proxy violence and choose targets that can't or won't fight back (eg children and the elderly and men in abusive relationships). For example "comparable frequencies" is true, but they neglect to mention that women are more likely to engage in unilateral physical violence against their partners, and that lesbian couples are more violent than heterosexual couples.
