How can you think you'll get rape threats when a lot of MRAs (myself included) are women? You feminists believe it's impossible for a woman to rape someone.

2XC is the most ridiculous sub on this site. Want to be auto-banned from 2XC without even visiting it? Post once to The_Donald. I got banned that way (and celebrated!) FYI I am a woman...

I'm also going to go against the grain like /u/Landry86 -- I don't think you should give up yet. Is he just saying he's a commitmentphobe, or is he saying that AND being distant? I've found that distance is really the true indicator of how serious a guy is about you. He might say crazy things about commitment or whatever, but if he's texting you all the time and wanting to see you, he's probably into you. And that can turn into a serious relationship or marriage, eventually -- much more than a g…

I don't think ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages are related to age, though. I know the frequency of downs syndrome / other genetic abnormalities goes up with age (especially for mothers over 35), but I don't think ectopic / miscarriages increase in frequency. I am no doctor, though. Anyway, I am sorry this happened to you. 10% is not much, and I pray you get a healthy, happy pregnancy and baby.

But legally, their money is intertwined unless they signed a prenup. So there is financial commitment. Also, many girls would never marry a guy who's been previously married, even if it was a sham marriage (myself included). So by marrying her legally, he knocked out a lot of potential women that he could date in the future. Of course a normal marriage would be much more commitment than this. But in today's age -- when people call silly things like a Facebook relationship status or moving in tog…

The issue I had started my senior year of high school when I finally started dating a boy who I didn't know was severely bipolar. When I broke up with him he attempted to commit suicide and was sent to a psych ward. It is something that makes me uncomfortable to think about, but not anything I feel guilty for anymore. The exact same thing happened to me, TWICE, with two different boyfriends. (Neither actually attempted suicide, but both threatened it.) I understand you, but we should never feel …

Eat healthy (keeps you busy making home-cooked meals & grocery shopping) and make your own desserts. I second this advice! I have a lot of anxiety if I am alone with my thoughts for a long time. Meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking new things really helps occupy my mind and makes me productive. And hey, everyone needs to eat, so at the end you have something every practical. (unlike other hobbies, like painting or something.) (Edit: other hobbies like painting are fine and wonderful, of …

I mean, if he legally married you and he's living with you, aren't those two big commitments already? I feel like he wouldn't have legally married you if he wasn't certain about marrying you in the future. My (now) husband wanted to get legally married a year or two before we planned to because of tax reasons. I said no, in part because of that 0.01% chance something would happen that would make us choose to not get married down the road. So if your guy was only like 80% sure he'd eventually mar…

That's great... In my social circles/culture, 25+ is too old (I got married at 25 so I was living dangerously! Haha.) Best of luck to you and I hope everything works out :)

I'm actually really surprised at the responses to your post. To me, that doesn't sound like a deal-breaker. A source of friction, sure, but a reason to call off a marriage? Nah. Also, since you're in your early thirties, it'll be very difficult to find a different man to marry. All the women I know in their thirties basically grabbed the first guy who was willing to put a ring on it, despite glaring discrepancies in wealth, earning potential, age, intellect, etc.

Mostly feminist, but also liberal in posting anti-Trump things once a week or so (which would be fine if it were a political sub)

Congrats, and thanks so much for the info! I'm having a baby in a few weeks (due April 28) and this is really helpful. Especially because BabyBumps is a bastion of liberal nonsense.

Ask yourself, has he ever offered to house any male friends who lost their jobs and couldn't make rent, or who needed help for another reason? This is the crux of the issue, right here. If the answer's no, then the answer to having her live with you guys is no.

You probably already do this, but let him know how awesome/smart/successful you think he is. My husband loves that kind of support, and really makes him feel a lot more confident :)

Yet, I still felt like in-between dates he was too distant. He does have a lot going on and he did say he likes space, but it just made me feel like he wasn't that interested. This is a super red flag. Distance almost always means disinterest, no matter the circumstances or excuses.

I am a woman who actually wants to be a housewife. I am not religious and I am college educated ... I keep hearing people pay lip service to the idea that today women are allowed to be "anything they want", but if what you want is to stay at home and be a wife first, suddenly people act like there is something wrong with you. Perfectly said. I'm a housewife, also college-educated, but we are both Catholic. So I'm not totally sure where to find non-religious men who want a housewife. Going to a B…

Yay twins!!! :D I got this rosa clara/aire barcelona dress. Was shocked that the dress was long enough, (especially in the torso area), but I guess most girls wear huge heels when they get married!

Sounds good :) Haha I agree with the shorter guy thing. I've experienced similar. It's so weird!!

Thanks!!! :D Yes, lots of us exist!! :D Edit: reading some of the other posts, I want to add that I actually don't recommend wearing heels. There are a lot of guys who like girls 5'10" - 6' 1", but not a lot that like 6' 2"-6' 5". Even my husband, who is 6' 5" himself and loves tall women, thinks I am significantly less attractive when I am wearing heels that make me more than 6'2" or 6'3".

Hello, fellow Amazon! I'm a 6' 1" 26-year-old girl and got married this past summer. It can be done!!! My "strategy" was just introducing myself to lots of guys, especially tall ones. I think I may have come off as a bit desperate, as someone else said, but hey... it worked. And there are lots of men who love tall women unrelated to submission. My husband loves tall women! And he is the "captain" of our marriage lol :) I'm not a "petite" tall woman either. I'd say I'm about average, maybe slight…

Thank you so much for the advice! :D My husband is a big fan of "together alone time" (like sitting next to each other and browsing the internet on our own computers), so nursing while he does some other activity is a great idea. :) Right now we're actually living with some of my family, so that may help a bit with the workload. I will still be caring for baby 24/7 because of various things, but I probably won't have to worry about grocery shopping, for example. That should help a lot as we rais…

Man always pays. Now, if you're in a long term relationship, then things can slide. Man should pay more than 50% of the time -- maybe 75% -- but he can't be expected to pay 100% of everything for five years or whatever.

I think an LDR can work. Even if an in-person friendship/relationship was never established. My husband and I were in a 5 to 6 year LDR, separated by a few hundred miles. All of our communication before dating was online. We did have some mutual friends, however, since we both went to the same college (he graduated before I started.) It worked out fine! That being said... I highly advise against having sex with him. You need some kind of tangible commitment before doing that. I'm especially wary…

Really interesting article. Thanks for sharing! In about 2 months, my husband and I will have our first baby. I am worried that I will put baby over husband, but hopefully it will reverse after the first 6 weeks or so. Any tips for navigating this time, where the baby will likely be taking up all of my time and energy, and sex is medically not allowed? Saving some time/energy for the husband at the end of the day is something I hope to prioritize.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
