An example would be to meet in a public place but wear a short skirt and a looooooooooooong jacket (and nothing else. short skirt optional). There's a fine line in this scenario between showing desperation and swallowing your pride and admitting you made a mistake. You know this, though, because you mentioned not wanting to cry.
