I think Dave Chapelle had a bit about the underlying idea here. He said he has a tendency to blame the victim of actions. For example if someone is jailed for hitting his wife, he asks well what’d she say to him? It’s an interesting perspective. I heard that she was a peddler and he refused to buy something from her and she got upset at him for buying food and not spending it on stuff she was selling. I also heard another story how they're actually husband and wife and they just got into a disagreement.

Opinion: she's asking the wrong question. She should be asking "should convicted criminals be allowed to vote on the law(s) that they broke?" The problem with making it illegal for convicts to not vote on the law or laws they broke is who decided what laws they cannot vote on? The law could very well be unfair and should be changed.
