To all the commenters offering reasons why one might not succeed, I imagine it was for you that Watterson created this strip.

You know someone is a radical feminist when they consider rape to be as bad as, or worse than, murder.

As a man who divorced over a decade ago, I can attest to the fact that, despite being athletic, articulate, and successful, I have more or less left the dating market because it just isn't worth the time, effort, and expense. In other words, his analysis is spot on. As he says, my bachelor activities are much more rewarding.

Instances of men being deeply, viscerally wanted and loved are conspicuously sparse in the recorded legacy of our race. This is very well said, thank you.

My marriage counselor contributed directly to my divorce because he would not acknowledge any of the bad actions of my (now ex-) wife. He sided with her on every issue, reinforcing her shitty attitude; I left soon thereafter.

Spend a little money and establish and LLC. Then you can honestly tell people that you run your own software company.

What you have to work to ingrain in your subconscious is that nobody else's opinion of you has more validity than your opinion of yourself. If, as you say, you're reasonably good looking, you keep yourself clean, and you act in a civilized manner, anybody who condemns you is an asshole and should be disregarded as such.

This commercial perfectly encapsulates the difference in attitude between AFCs and non-AFCs. Thanks for posting it.

our culture is designed in such a way that if you don't play ANY games than you are negatively labeled And this, in a nutshell, is why many choose to remain single.

It sounds like you were one of a pool of potential hookups and she chose another.

Great story. I'm sorry I only have one upvote to give, considering you used WoW analagies in a post about f-closing through the friend zone. I hope it works out for you two.

Agreed. This is an excellent comment both because it's true and because it flies in the face of conventional wisdom.

That sounds like a good-natured, positive competition between friends. Mine is not. They will actively tear me down in order to feel superior. It's actually caused me quite a bit of damage over the past couple of years, pushing me into depressed states that I had never before experienced.

I've often thought to myself that if anybody said the things to me that I say to myself, I would kick their ass. No doubt, I am my own worst enemy when it comes to confidence. That said... Some of my friends know how amazing I am and like to remind me of it. They know full well about my social problems, anxiety, and my lack of ability with women, so they reinforce the good things about me. Its good to have a support system! I really need friends like this. My current group of friends are all hyp…

This is a move to kill off the competition. I'm disappointed that the creators of OKC agreed to the deal. :(

In articles like this, "nice" is used as it relates to seduction. Being thought of as "a nice guy" by a girl you want to fuck is a death sentence, and we all know it. In this context, the article is spot on.
