I (and IMHO, she) would be more concerned if you didn't cry at all.

Everybody gets one. She does it twice, nope nope nope.

Unless she's the only available female in a 100 mile radius, why should you have to deal with a personality that's not at all a match with yours? 2 more dates, and if she doesn't open up, move on.

There are no rational answers to irrational questions. The answer, 99.9% of the time, is NO. Become impervious to manipulation...

You might ask yourself, especially now in hindsight, how much energy she deserves. The answer, if you're unsure, is very little. Simply keep moving forward, take very little of her behavior personally.

Be just as selective about the men you hang out with, as you would the women you hang out with. Higher standards, all around.

Less questions, more actions.

In most Western cultures, there's no rites of passage for young men. This is a problem. Then throw video games, television and other mind-numbing, maturity-preventing obstacles in front of them... and there's your 40 year old male, who has zero idea who he truly is.

Matty nailed it... "The result is that you can only own yourself, you can only invest in yourself. You have to accept that relationships can and will end, and treat them accordingly. Never base your life on a woman..."

The old saying goes "know yourself, know the way in all things". Seriously, though. Start a meditation practice, and read about self-knowledge and get right in your own head. If you're in a decent size town, there's meditation groups everywhere. Go sit down, shut up and be with your own thoughts. You start doing that, you'll get the inner confidence of You, knowing You. Can't nobody take that once you got it. Good luck.

Being in Los Angeles, we get that question, "what do you do?" all the time. I've learned not to ask people unless they bring it up. When people ask me, I tell them (with a smile) "I don't let my job determine who I am", and get a fair amount of blank stares back at me;).

I've got a few years on OP, and I sympathize. That said, stop drinking. Separate yourself from the pack of idiots you may/may not hang out with. You being sober allows you to be in control, present and capable. Being drunk just makes you drunk. It will not get better, only worse. Make a change now.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
