It makes the situation more uncomfortable and awkward some would say, and nobody does it. Sure they're is nothing wrong with it, it could help them get ready or something of the sort. But if you need consent to kiss someone, then you'd need consent to handshake someone and if you needed consent for that, you'd have to be given consent too even walk on the same ground as people barefooted.
