I guess what I'm trying to get at is, I'd admit that the problem is really difficult if you didn't find anything funny, but you do apparently. They're doing something that you recognize as funny, which means you can figure it out. I'm sure it's really difficult, but you can do it with practice. Well, as someone who does math as a large part of my job, and I think it's fair to say I'm good at making people laugh, let me say that logic is a large part of humor, and there's a decent amount of creat…

You already have a huge in because you're in a class together. You can talk about the prof, the class itself, other people in the class, etc. Sit near her, make some comment about the above either before or after class.

Hm, I guess. Still, I think it's very learnable, even if you're at a disadvantage. Well, I brought up math because even if you can't empathize with people on that level, you can view humor as a function. You give an input (a joke of some sort), and you get an output (laughter or not). That's something you can empirically gauge, even if you don't really understand why it makes them laugh. Sorry, I don't really know your situation. Do you have friends you joke with? Do you find anything funny in g…

Hmmm. Well I'm not in your position, so I don't want to be ignorant and insensitive. But, I do believe humor is a lot more teachable/learnable than people think. For example, if you listen to comedians talk about their craft, they go about refining it a very analytic way. Not to play up a stereotype, but are you good at math? It's relevant.

There are a couple parts to this. First, how sure are you that she's actually into guys still? Second, I wouldn't worry about the age difference. 22/18 isn't crazy, and girls typically like older guys. If she just broke up with someone, though, she may not be looking for anything else. The cuddling thing is good, but do you have any other evidence to suggest she might be into you in that way? Lastly, there's not really any way around it. If you have romantic intentions, be clear that if you act …

The other guy said some stuff, but IMO it all falls under two categories: being funny, or being interesting. IMO, it's hard to be interesting without it looking like you're just bragging, or coming off as pretentious. Maybe if you were already talking about something and you offered an interesting opinion. I think it's better just to be making her laugh, and associate you with good feelings. Most guys aren't actually funny, so if you make them laugh, you'll be unique.

I agree with you about the actual reason rejection hurts, but what you're saying basically boils down to "you can't lose if you don't play." Definitely true, but you can't win either, and most people would say that it leads to a pretty bland life. And like... Would you really rather not know if there's a negative trait you have and could fix? I definitely would.

Hmmm, I'm about 6 years out of college and that hasn't been totally my experience. I guess it's technically true that I don't remember most of the people I met, but I'm still friends with a bunch of people.

I can't tell from your post whether you're still in college or recently out of it, so I dunno if I'm preaching to the choir or not. But, post college life is really, really different. You don't realize it until you're out of college, but in college friends/potential romantic things are being fucking thrown at you. I was relatively antisocial and I still couldn't help meeting a lot of new people. There are reasons like, constantly getting to meet new people from different classes every semester a…
