Do more things! Be interesting. There is so much to do in school. Want to learn to cook? Want to watch awesome classic movies? Do it with people! Organize group activities. Try out for a musical or play. Join a school club if there's one that works for you. Decide you're going to learn how to make candles or ice cream or do songwriting or whatever. People in high school are surprisingly receptive to initiative if you do it with relatable confidence. The skills you learn now will serve you later …

I can see that, but I really think you're in danger of venturing into analysis paralysis. Don't overthink the situation. If you do the favor in a subservient way, then yes it could reflect poorly on you.
