He didn’t make her an account, she’s using reddit language that one has to be familiar with before adapting properly into a post..: bet he doesn’t even know she posted it, and would be angry for seeking an opinion outside of the relationship

Okay I would argue in this very hypothetical situation/ train of thought that if it were the case that all men are ‘just gay’ then they would’ve probably worked that narrative into their history, making it less stigmatised and something to attest to the superiority of men… maybe enslaving woman to just be reproductive tanks on a political dystopian level lol. I think some men can genuinely love, care for and be sexually attracted to women all at the same time … they’re just rare.

I’m really sorry that happened to you, I was about to type ‘I can’t believe he did that’, but yeah actually I can believe it. I just hope you’re healing as best you can right now and enjoying other aspects of your life, I think that taking time away from dating after something like this happens is the best medicine— you build up your armour and get perspective on what truly you want/ makes you happy. Big hugs

Love how he’s whining for a whole paragrah about how she’s supposed to be SpIrItuAL and above material things because that’s why he fell in love with her and then in the same breath says he’s only still with her for the $140k salary... like, dude shut the fick up

Agreed. I have only used the phrase ‘it is what it is’ when my LV ex apologised on the phone for treating me bad. I specifically used that phrase instead of telling him it was ok or that things weren’t that bad because I had checked out emotionally and didn’t want to fix the situation. They know what they’re implying by using that phrase, everybody does

I felt like this a few weeks ago and read the book ‘Circe’ by Madeline Miller. It’s a beautiful book that charts through some myths from the Odyssey from the perspective of Circe who has some TRASH relationships. She ends up living alone on an island making a life for herself and it’s written just.... so well. Deals of themes of grief, loss, abandonment and alienation as well as regret. There’s a full audiobook on YouTube too which I can link if your interested. Maybe it’d be a nice book for you…

I can’t fathom how they could look any partner in the eye on their birthdays and not even have picked up a card or a small gift. Like... the shame and guilt I would feel if it was me! Honestly at this point I prefer not to understand the inner workings of their brains

Thanks so much, it does help. He would clench his jaw all the time and speak through gritted teeth when he was really angry. All the rest of the time it was like he was detached from what was happening. I used to want to be like that and feel no emotion and sometimes I still do but it’s just the way it is. Like I said before, I love your list and I think it’s really important to keep reiterating these traits of HV people. So many women throughout my life have had terrible role models for relatio…

I really love your list. The ‘calmness’ one scares me a bit though because I’m still learning how to differentiate the people who are truly calm and at peace with themselves/ regulate their emotions vs ‘calm’ men who actually just don’t register emotion and have little empathy for others. I’ve only have seriously dated the latter type of men and I know it’s a ‘me’ problem but I’m still recovering from the trauma of all three of these relationships (being made to feel crazy for literally just exp…

I’m so sorry, all that labour is too much it’s just exhausting to even read. I can’t believe after all that resolve to push him to do the paperwork he can’t even sort that out. I’m so sorry but honestly (and unfortunately) I’m learning that if you want a job done right (or at all) you have to do it yourself. People can be so lazy and thoughtless and spiteful

This is so true, but just a random anecdotal story— in the beginning of an old relationship my ex said I was romantic because I drank coffee in the morning everyday and doodled on some napkins while we got breakfast once. I remember having an inner dialogue convo with myself thinking ‘Jesus Christ I don’t think this guy knows what romantic means’

I wish I knew the men you did! I’m in my early 20s and Australia is just crawling with no job, drug junkie men in that weird twilight zone of not feeling the need to commit to a career path or a relationship. I take the way I responded to it at the time as something to be written off or ‘no big deal’ as a huge wake up call about how so much never goes reported. I mean for gods sake it’s happened to x3 woman in my family already (incl. me). Seeing the way my sister felt dirty and broken made my heart ache. She’s only 19. I don’t even know how to begin approaching the whole thing, I’m just so angry

I’m British Australian and find c*nt a horrible and vulgar word. My parents both tell my brothers off when they use it and say it’s disgusting. It’s almost used interchangeably with the word ‘asshole’ where I live but I don’t really hear too many people who I talk to use it. Just doesn’t come up in conversations

Told me he loved me and that he wanted to travel to New York with me while I did an exchange for art school, UGH. Uncanny! A week ago I had a dream that a random man on reddit posted my selfies and linked to my insta and wrote a false article about me involving sex work and I woke up feeling so anxious and awful (and SO glad it was a dream). I’d been binging a podcast about social media companies mining our data that night so I know what warped line of dreaming logic it came from but my goodness... it made me regret getting Facebook at 16 and thinking about silly pictures people may have saved of me out of …

As a 22 y/o artist myself whose just graduated art school, I can tell you that most women in my year group at uni thought NSFW drawings were gross and exploitative. We all agreed that it’s just porn— there’s no free card because the drawings are technically good or the person drawing them is talented. There’s a huge difference between figurative life/ nude drawing vs drawing straight porn. I’ve frequented subs like ‘Artist Lounge’ and ‘Art Crits’, there are SO many men posting hentai style NSFW …

I never would have left my ex if I hadn’t been consistently seeing posts in FDS that made my soul ache and resonated with the shitty way I was being treated. Like I would NEVER have left. It still shocks me that dudes are online so much that they know these websites exist (or more likely, are that sad that they actively go looking for them)? Like last time I used an online calculator tool was when I was 11 and you type out your own and your crushes first name to test compatibility 🤦‍♀️

That’s so awful, and I can relate to the stabbing pain of shock and hurt you’re describing— it should never happen in a relationship where the other is supposed to care and cherish you. I hope the situation weighs less on your mind now and you’re happy 😊

I was the same, always in and out of relationships. I had never been single (until 4 months ago, thanks FDS) since I was 14. I come from a home with a lot of DV, but have a big family and need to take care of my mum and little siblings so moving out isn’t an option for now but... Since dumping my ex in August I’ve graduated uni with 2 degrees, landed four solo exhibitions for painting in 3 major cities and made new friends... all on my own at 22, during covid in Aus. I didn’t need him or anybody…

The most freeing thing I’ve learned is that their actions RARELY have anything to do with you, they’ve made up their minds long before they drop the news. The best thing you can do it be yourself and never invest wholly into another person!

God, monkey and mouse are awful... literally playing to negative traits, mouse being meek and monkey... well 🥴 (which I’m sure you do not have in that sense?) Honestly I used to love pet names, before this ex it wasn’t a problem. But now whenever anyone calls me anything except my name (even my mum calling me pumpkin) it makes me uncomfortable. Sucks how men ruin literally everything sacred

I’ve always known my worth but sometimes growing up in abusive households makes you question your ability to reason/ dulls down your instinct. Tactics like this have worked on me in the past before I started understanding they were calculated methods/ patterns to spot. It wasn’t that I didn’t believe I had worth tho. I’m so glad this sub articulates abusive patterns like gaslighting and this ‘hot n cold’, putting it into words is so valuable
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/10/20 12:22 PM

This is such an important comment. The impetus to manipulate women in this way with the hot cold tactic & the basement example share the same root way of thinking. Obvs the basement example is an extreme but on a base level... they operate in very similar ways

I think you are a very strong person for standing up to her. Your mum would be really proud of you— you defended her and stood your ground to some you consider friends, and that takes a lot of courage. I also love that you owned calling her names. It was wrong but understandable and I would have reacted the same, especially after a drink. It sounds to me like you are an honest, brave and loyal person, and those are the qualities I admire in my bff. We are also opposites, but in a way that helps …

You hit the nail on the head. I disagree with my long distance BFF on lots of political things (not feminism) but she has ALWAYS shown me kindness, respect and empathy with anything I share with her. Never kicks me down. Never makes me second guess whether I am blowing things out of proportion or am being neurotic. The issue with this friendship dynamic is that OP has shared something personal and troubling, and the ‘friend’ of 25 years can’t even step back from the whole rAtIoNaliSing POV to ev…

There is a serious lack of empathy from that woman, to the point where it’s alarming. How vile that she would even SAY that to you and verbalise it thinking it is in any way appropriate, let alone be genuinely thinking that way. In the end it’s a good thing she had no filter because holy shit, now it’s right in the open. Totally! I was THAT person who had literally never been single (until now) since I was 14! I’m now 22. I was a serial monogamist, and let me tell you it was pathetic. Always needing validation, attention and approval from men. I was so unhappy but also not willing to take a long hard look at myself and have the courage to address my issues. It’s really difficult because so many people we previously considered friends are actually very non commital/ don’t match our effort or energy. It’s important to put yourself first but at the same time you don’t want to end up completely isolated. Is a kind of crappy support network better than no support network? I don’t even know. That’s so strange to me. I’m on the path to recovery BUT even when I was a full blown pick-me I always admired the women around me that were comfortable being single.
